Make Use Of The Park & Ride

The park and ride is one junction along, on the a48, from the hotel. It is £3.00 per car for the day which works out a lot cheaper than parking in the city centre. Very easy to use too!. See more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a package coach trip, which may be partially to blame for this less than flattering review. On arrival our keys were placed on a table in the reception area which was fine and obviously for ease of booking a coach partY in !! However there were no members of staff there to advise where the rooms were !!.I asked a member of staff who was passing by if the ramp was the way to the rooms, he didn't stop walking, and without even looking at me said " YEAH" Once in the twin room it was adequate for an overnight stay and relatively clean ! The bathroom and bed linen were immaculate however there was sweet paper other paper rubbish on the floor under the console table and bed, his was only found as the beds needed to be pushed closer together to enable a walkway around the bed.The bathroom was spacious with a large double sized shower area, the only major downside was that although the shower was hot and really powerful it was a rain shower !! Which is fine IF you want to wash your hair, and totally useless if you don't !! Showering bent over at 90 degrees isn't ideal ! The room was on the ground floor and although it overlooked the car park it was really quiet which helped towards getting a good nights sleep on very comfortable beds ! The food we were given in the evening as part of our package was served by surly, unhelpful staff and was inedible. The "soup" was so thick once a spoon was lifted out of it indentation stayed and the "soup" didn't move !!!, the main meal of chicken and veg was dreadful with chicken that had the moisture level of cardboard and it was topped off with beef flavored granule gravy !! The sweet of chocolate cake with ice cream was apparently nice by those in the party that ate it but not liking chocolate desserts was not offered an alternative. The prices in the bar are a disgrace charging £4.50 for a glass of coke ! and a glass provided for a bottled beer was returned to the bar as it was dirty !.The cooked food available at breakfast was abysmal , however, the bread available for toasting was lovely, its just a shame it had to be put in the toaster 4 times just to get it to change colour !! The coffee/tea area was a mess and the few mugs that were available were at the back of a high shelf and couldn't be reached without help,I'm 5' 7" so not particularly short !! With the exception of a lady working in the breakfast area, and a gentleman who was behind the reception area on sat evening. here were no smiles on any of the staffs faces maybe they felt like me and were wishing they were somewhere else !!! All stays have been excellent. 2 visits were for 3 weeks each while my husband was in hospital, and all the staff were considerate and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very spacious. Hot and cold AC in every room, but staff gave me an extra radiator. Ample tea and coffee supplies in the room as well as basic toiletries. Very comfortable beds with extra duvets available. Breakfast was buffet with no variation. I rarely dined there but the menu is good. Dorota runs a very efficient hotel with mainly long-standing staff. My special thanks to to her, Kyle, Reece, Stacey, Linda, Amanda, Paige, Lee and Sergei, together with those members of staff I haven't named.Should I return to Cardiff I shall definitely stay there again. Unbelievable value booking through Getaroom. Would do again without hesitation. The price was under half that being quoted by many of the other sites and even included breakfast. I really don't know how they did it.
