I've stayed in this hotel many times for work, the food used to be good, now it's average at best, mixed grill isn't cheap but I'd have preferred a take away for half the price, it really has gone down hill! So the hotels online website doesn't work, they didn't receive my booking, even when I provided them with the confirmation number they still didn't have it, this has happened before so I would suggest always ring and book! Anyway, I got a room eventually. The room was so noisy all night, the heating system sounded like a washing machine. I turned it off but it made no difference. I've read other reviews say the same! It really was unbearable to sleep. The noise from the motorway is ridiculous if you are on that side of the hotel! Eventually fell asleep around 3am from pure exhaustion and the fire alarm went off at 5am (only briefly) and again 10 minutes later! Off to work shortly and look like I've been up all night at the pub with my blood shot eyes! Won't be staying again, will ensure my company book me elsewhere. Collapse

Utterly terrible spot not worthy of being referred to as a hotel. Stayed here a handful of times due to work booking it. I presume they use it as some form of punishment for me to endure. Upon my first visit I had my car stolen from the hotel's car park. Staff were completely uninterested and poor CCTV footage was only provided some weeks later after several repeated pleas from myself and the local Police. On three separate visits I've been woken in the night by false fire alarms that have subsequently been reset. Card keys for the doors require resetting by reception almost every time you leave the room. Seemingly your door key can't be within a 10ft radius of a mobile phone otherwise it requires reprogramming. The endless shuttle running back and forth between the room's corridor and reception keeps you fit at least. If you're an early bird needing to get away for a meeting you won't get breakfast. Kitchen staff simply can't meet a simple timing in the A.M. If you're struggling to locate the main entrance just aim for the massive cloud of cigarette smoke. Once you've found you're way through it and eventually stopped coughing you should find yourself at the reception where you will find rude and inept staff who will take an absolute age to process the simplest of requests. Anyone who spends their own money to stay in this place must be desperate or insane or possibly both. Collapse

Got a Boxing day booking, to visit daughter's inlaws. Had a bit of Sat Nav trouble finding hotel. There are two postcodes.!!. Car park did not seem secure and was open to visitors to Leisure facility. Reception not very welcoming. Once receptionist got off of phone we were quickly booked in . Told that we only had an hour slot next morning for breakfast between 8.00 and 9.00????. Not mentioned on website when booking. Our 'Executive Room' was very tired. An unused television aerial wire was coiled and hanging in one corner. There was no hairdryer. Very limited hanging space. Bed comfortable and room clean. Breakfast ok, but too quickly over. Would not return. Collapse

Suspend all disbelief and watch, listen and learn at how to run an appalling hotel. Marvel at the total disinterest from staff. Wonder at how breakfast is cut off at 9 a.m. prompt, reminding us old enough to remember the Blackpool landlady in the cramped B&B. Taste the indifferent bacon and heated-up scrambled eggs. (Perish the thought you might be offered freshly made fried eggs or even poached!). Watch as coffee machines empty and are not restocked or how the bacon runs out and the croissants are not replaced. Or sample the tasteless food during the evening and think - and hope - for one single moment that anyone cares about the quality of food or service. Then try and get comfortable in the low sofas and chairs in a main lounge area which are fit only for the dump. Squirm for hours in a hard, lumpy bed in a tiny room for which you're charged £90, without breakfast. Queue endlessly at the bar as one lone soul deals with drinks ever-so-slowly, like everything in this establishment. I have stayed at this hotel during the last 20 years, stretching back to the days of the old Moat House. It has slumped from being well run, to average, to poor and now terrible. Good location near the M5 and plentiful parking earns it one star. You might think, reading this review:'It surely isn't as bad as all that?' Try it, by all means, and enter a twilight zone of catering and organisation which come straight from the 1950's. Shocking - or funny - depending on your mood and whether you are picking up your own bill. I am self-employed, so pay my own way and have a sense of humour bypass on all useless hotls and restaurants. But even I try and force a smile as I think:'Are you trying to be this useless on purpose? Or is this really the best of your ability?' Collapse

I stayed at this hotel from 7th-10th Dec 2016. They were offering a discounted rate which was close to 60GBP per night. Hotel was easy to find and parking was free, which is good. They have a decent sized parking lot but it fills up quickly, especially during peak times for the gym, so you could face trouble finding a spot. The room was a bit on the small side, but nice and clean. The beds were what you would expect from a 3-star (think Premier Inn). The TV was a small flat screen (< 32 inch) but at least the HDMI port was enabled so I could connect my laptop. That is a definite plus over some of the hotels I have stayed in. The spa was just ok. Wet floors in the locker room without the drainage mats. No one in sight to do any wiping. Usually there is at least one curtained area in locker rooms if you want some privacy when changing, but not in here. Pool was nice and warm. Steam room was a bit small but ok. The hot tub was out of order. We couldn't find any facility to dry our shorts. Getting back into gym clothes was a hassle on wet floors in the locker room. The fitness room was also a bit small. Only two treadmills and therefore even at 11AM on a working day, I found someone waiting while I was doing my 30 minutes treadmill. The weights were ok for a decent workout, but again could have used an extra bench or two. The staff were nice and friendly so no complaints there at all. But without any discounted rates, you can do MUCH better at this price point. Bigger rooms, larger TV screens and a better maintained spa. Collapse
