2nd time I have stayed here, I wasn't expecting much as my 1st visit was disappointing. Hotel is clean & well presented on the inside, although the exterior looks like a 60s block of flats. I stayed on the 6th floor & my room had a good view looking over the river, a clean & very spacious room with air con. Tv was a little small & emphasised the size of the room as you need great eyesight to watch it when lying in bed. No bath but quite a big shower with some decent toiletries ( i presume these are for people to take home & put in a cupboard but never use). I enquired about the gym, apparently there is one but it is unattended with no changing facilities, it also has a sauna but I was told it can't be used as gym area is unsupervised (ridiculous). Didn't eat in the restaurant as hotel is close to town centre which has a good variety of restaurants, did have breakfast buffet which was ok & only ok, not a brilliant selection (cooked), a Premier inn is a lot better for breakfast, also on my 1st visit here about 6 months previous, I arrived for breakfast at 8.50am to find the team packing it all away as they stop serving at 9am (surely that's not normal hotel practice) I did manage a bowl of fruit & a coffee on that occasion. The car park is behind the hotel and is signposted, trying to find it in the dark isn't easy as signs aren't the biggest, I had to do 2 laps of the one way system to locate it. I use this hotel for business as it fits my companies expense policy, although I wouldn't book it if visiting with my family. Collapse

Comfortable, modern hotel interior housed in a rather unattractive tower block. The hotel is located on the river bank with great views of the river. It has ample parking at the rear and is conveniently located to the town centre. The room was clean and modern and maximises the use of space. The only down sides was the poorly situated toilet and only half a shower door. Overall it has all the conveniences of a modern hotel and perfectly adequate for a short stay. Collapse

Room was very big but the TV is far down the other side of the room so you'd struggle without glasses. The food in the bar/restaurant was good, a bit over priced but what you'd expect from a hotel. Overall I would stay here again if needed for work. Collapse

Spent 5 months at this hotel as I was working in Bedford. First impressions didn't seem anything special especially from the view outside as it more looks like a block of flats than a hotel!. However inside its a different story. The lobby and reception area are very nice along with the restaurant/bar area. Rooms are a bit hit and miss with some having baths, some not, with the best rooms being from the 4th floor up, but all very clean and well looked after by the maids. Breakfast was ok ish nothing special, with your usual cereal, continental selection and various hot foods including bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, beans and tomatoes. Also aside from this selection you could ask for omelettes and poached eggs to be freshly made, both very nice. Evening food in my opinion was much better, with plenty of options on the menu made to a very high quality. But where this hotel really excelled at was the staff. I have stayed in many hotels in my life but never met a more friendlier and accommodating group of people. I can't mention them all but want to give special mention to Milena, Jackie, Salma, Christina and Shirley on bar/restaurant. Milena was a superstar who looked after all my fussy food requirements as I'm gluten intolerant. She went out of her way numerous times to stock additional gluten free items and also did a bespoke menu for me which really helped in giving me more options. Jackie I have never met anyone who works as hard as you, sometimes having to work the bar and restaurant all on her own but never once complained. Also want to mention the fab team in reception, with Inga, Sarah and Nick making my stay as pleasant as possible. Last but not least wanted to say huge thanks to Barbara on breakfast, always smiling and making sure I had everything I needed. Finally thanks to you all for the fab time I had whilst I was there. Hope to be back soon. Collapse
