I thoroughly recommend the Park Hotel in Kenmare, provided you place a premium on service, over modernity. Come here to enjoy a welcoming experience, in a well-run establishment. As a stickler for good service, I am on the look-out for deviations from same. If you pay good money, it's fair to expect this in return and the Park delivered this on a consistent basis, with only a single minor exception. The staff members are friendly, attentive and welcoming. They know what they are doing and what is expected of them. The food is excellent, particularly the fish, which is even recommended for breakfast! The rooms are old-fashioned, which is fine, provided you are happy with this. The fitness center is acceptable and my wife tells me that they have a nice spa and relaxation area. They have a very good 25 meter swimming pool. While narrow, it's certainly perfect for doing laps. Beats most hotel pools. Another attraction is that the Park is located within the town of Kenmare. You can walk to any place within a few minutes. There are some nice restaurants and shops in the town as well. The Kenmare alternative to the Park, is Sheen Falls, where I have also stayed. In my opinion, the Park is the winner, hands-down. The location is better, the food is better, the staff are more committed and better trained. Sheen Falls is not located in the town and requires either a car, a taxi, or a long walk, while the Park is right there in the middle of Kenmare. Also, if you do opt for Sheen Falls, ask them if they now have a fitness center. They didn't when I stayed there, even though they had signs stating that they did!! Collapse

From check in to check out, this hotel was incredible. Welcomed at the door, bags taken from my car and straight to my room. Service with a smile. Drinks at the bar with Brian , informative young man regarding his whiskey and ever so friendly. Breakfast outside on the patio was a breathtaking experience. Staff could not do enough for us . Food was homemade and delicious. Dinner that night was tasty and beautifully presented. Wine as described by our wine water and was the perfect temperature. Words of Wisdom: While staying in Park visit Drimquinna Boat House for Lunch. 7 KM out the road. Well worth it. Partake in the hillwaking with John Moriarity. A fountain of knowledge and very pleasant company. I was surprised to have him serve me my drink that evening before dinner. You will not be disappointed with your visit. It is truly a gem . Collapse

Overall, the staff members were attentive, helpful and courteous. The rooms are old fashioned but we were expecting that. The spa and pool are excellent. The food was also wonderful. On our second last day we returned from the Ring of Kerry to discover a bag was missing: nothing expensive, just some chocolate gifts we bought in the town, valued at less than 50 euro. The paper bag had been left on the table, and we put it down to an error. I can understand managers wanting to protect their staff, and I still regard the whole incident as something of a mystery. We managed to purchase some of the gifts again and these were paid for by the hotel. Being asked for a third time if we had left the bag in the car was not something I had expected. It took the sheen off the whole experience, and prevented us from visiting the Farmer’s Market on the last day due to time constraints. Collapse

Stayed here with my family following a family bereavement and couldn't have had a more enjoyable weekend given the circumstances. The staff are second to none, particularly Aideen, who arranged for the children of the group to be looked after both nights. Nothing was too much of an ask. As for John Moriarty, we could have listened to his stories for the entire weekend! Perhaps the best spa experience I've ever had, with Valene. Overall, couldn't fault a thing. Will definitely be back Collapse

Stayed for 3 nights, had a really spacious room. The bathroom was small though with shower in bath which I don't like. The room was very quiet and had a balcony. We ate in the bar one night which was really great. There is an excellent choice of restaurants in Kenmare though so lots to pick from - The Lime Tree beside the hotel is very good as was Packies. The hotel is spotless. Staff are very friendly. Your windscreen gets a wash at night time which was a lovely gesture! Would have given 5 stars but dropping one as you need to pay extra (€25 per person) to use the Thermal Suite which in a fives star hotel paying the prices that they charge is a little much to expect. There is a pool which you can use but it's just a lap pool and there is a sauna. But going to a five star hotel with the facilities it has I'd like to expect to use them all! They do offer free yoga etc which I did enjoy on two mornings. The hotel is really beautiful but they should consider offering access to the Thermal Suite as complimentary for guests... Collapse
