The Ambassador may not be the hippest or most luxurious hotel in town, but, as part of the Marriott family of hotels it stands proud for its excellent location and overall value for money for the decerning guest. During this stay we had to put up with a few small issues yet all were fixed once mentioned. The executive club nevertheless could do with some TLC - poor selection of food, poorer even selection of drinks, especially bad wine at offer. With little effort and extra funds a tremendous improvement could be achieved! I challenge management to get to it! Plenty of outstanding examples within the Marriott family to learn from! Still, we will be back and will happily recommend this hotel! Collapse

The Marriott Opera Ambassador is both very well-placed and reasonably priced for Paris. You are quite near the north station which works well for traveling to Paris by the Thalys or Eurostar trains. There is plenty of shopping available….either at the end of the block (Galleries Lafayette, etc.) or a longer walk away in the more elegant Madeline stores. The Metro (7) is also just down the block and will take you to the Louvre in only three stops. There is a pharmacy across the street and plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood which extends down into the Opera area to the southeast. The hotel itself has the feeling of an older property that has been renovated. Our room was quite compact and the closet was one of the smallest I have ever seen again indicating that they were working with the constraints of the space available. Our bed was supposed to be a king but actually was two beds pushed next to each other. That said, they were quite comfortable after a day of walking through the city. The bathroom was modern but only had a shower. If I stay here again I would check to see if they have other larger rooms available. Collapse
Good hotel in a good location

This hotel is situated in the heart of one of the shopping districts in Paris. It also leaves many great sights and neighboorhoods well within reach. The service is, for the most part, pretty good, but there are areas for improvement.

We had a great welcome at the hotel, which was concerned when we did not arrive when expected (United Airlines mechanical issues), and senior staff came out to greet us when we finally made it. The welcome was genuine and warm, and it continued with the rest of the staff we came into contact with during our three-day stay. The furnishings and rooms were clean and comfortable, and my wife was impressed by the large closets and drawer space not often found in Europe. House-keeping crept away when they saw our request to sleep longer after our horrible in-bound journey, and extra towels were promptly delivered and refreshed during the whole stay. Overall, the room was well-appointed and everything worked as expected — when I needed to charge a third U.S. device, the front desk lent me a convertor. The Concierge's Desk had all the maps and advice we needed, and we were delighted to find how many Metro stations were within easy walking distance, from where we could jump on a variety of lines to reach all of central Paris. Buying a carnet (ten tickets at a time), we quickly rode the Metro from sight to sight, including the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the Arc de Triomphe. And when we needed a taxi, the hotel's efficient doormen had one in an instant. Visiting in January at the height of the Parisian sales, we also found the Marriott Opera within walking distance of the legendary Galleries Lafayette department store, which serves as a focal point for a whole number of other upscale retailers, successfully challenging the over-priced and fussy stores on the Champs Elysees. We did not eat at the hotel, but we enjoyed the extensive buffet breakfast and friendly service in the Executive Lounge, which was available to us. We also visited the ground floor bar area, which was also welcoming. Within very easy walking distance are a host of restaurants and bars, and we always felt safe and secure in the neighborhood. With that in mind, the hotel employed discrete but attentive security guards and that, and for all the other reasons, means we will stay there again when next in Paris. Collapse

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in January and wish we could have stayed longer. We are Marriott rewards platinum members and were very pleased to receive our complimentary upgrade to an executive level room which included access to the executive lounge. Upon arrival, after flying overnight from the US, it was wonderful to visit the lounge and be greeted by Samuel-aside from being very friendly and welcoming, he kept the lounge well stocked and clean. When we were headed out for the day he made a point to walk us down the hall to point out some places that we may want to visit during our stay. It was so nice to see his smiling face each morning! Our room was quite large by European standards and well appointed. A very comfortable king bed, both an espresso machine and coffee maker and ample towels. The room appeared to have been recently renovated. We ate at 16 Haussmann on the Sunday evening that we were in Paris as there are very limited restaurants open on Sundays. The food was good as was the service. The hotel is less than 1 block to the Metro and there are plenty of taxis. I would highly recommend a stay and plan on staying here the next time we are in Paris! Collapse
