I will admit that the beds were very comfortable with good linen, however our room was small and the bathroom even smaller with only a single basin and little shelf or storage space. In the standard hotel format there are two deep armchairs in front of the window which unfortunately have sides that pinion you uncomfortably while being too high to serve as armrests. Half an hour in one of these beauties will leave you stiff and aching! We had free wifi as part of Hilton's frequent guest program but if you let your computer or phone go into sleep mode it disconnects and you have to re-establish the link which is infuriating! The hotel restaurant serves breakfast from hot and cold buffets and if, like me, you've ordered a continental as opposed to a hot breakfast you'll find a minder or warden to make sure you don't step out of line. My breakfast was two mini sized slightly stale and tasteless croissants plus a small bowl of fruit, good coffee and a small orange juice. The fruit was far from fresh and hadn't fully ripened while some of the berries were actually rotting. Even given that San Francisco is an expensive city $25 plus taxes for this sort of muck seems ridiculous. Parc 55 is convenient for shopping if chain and department stores are your thing although it's at the edge of the skid row area known as the Tenderloin where the surrounding streets are drab, dirty and full of homeless, desperate people. I don't mean to be callous or unfeeling but I must confess that I didn't feel completely safe walking back there later in the evening. One should feel secure as a visitor since the police keep an obvious and active presence in the area particularly late at night as you can tell from their penetrating car and motorcycles sirens that persist and intrude into your sleep yet which curiously fail to reassure. It's true that the weather wasn't good for the two days I was there with a vigorous wind and that sort of heavy wetness that's too extreme for drizzle and not heavy enough for proper rain. If you're a fan of old movies and enjoyed the atmosphere and menace of "Blade Runner" a stay here will bring it all back to you! Collapse
Outstanding staff performance

Parc 55 well represents Hilton standards, great rooms and location. But most importantly I would like to applause staff performance , very helpful, friendly and flexible when it comes to customer needs, especially Cristina at the reception.

The breakfast buffet was also outstanding - a huge selection of foods! Collapse
Okay hotel - I would not choose for personal travel

I stayed at this property while attending a conference at the Parc 55. The room was pretty much a standard room with good bedding. One nice thing about the room is that it has a small refrigerator - that was great for storing some morning breakfast items and water. I was on a higher floor with a somewhat decent view. I am sure there are much better views. The elevator is definitely a different experience - you punch your room number in and it tells you which elevator to access and it brings you to that floor. You get used to it but it would be nice if when you check in they would explain how it works. I had to ask another guest how to work the elevator. The location is good - there is a lot of shopping in area, easy access to the cable car if you want that experience and easy access to Union Square. There are a good bit of homeless people in the area and you are on the edge of the Tenderloin area where there are even more homeless people. I actually wandered into this area - wasn't bothered at all but not a place I would want to walk after dark. So, would I stay here again - no, unless attending a conference that was held here. I would choose other options for a vacation visit to San Francisco. Collapse
Good location, 5 / 10 minute walk to centre

Started our 3 week Calfornian holiday here and stayed at Parc 55 for 3 nights to use as a base to tour San Francisco in August 2016. Firstly, I would always suggest that you fully research San Francisco, we did not and set off for what we thought would be a lovely warm 3 weeks in the Californian sunshine. We were so wrong! The weather is renowned for being cold and breezy at all times in the Bay, you need to pack warm clothes for this destination, even in the summer months. Luckily there are plenty of good shops nearby to stock up on warmer clothing if needed! Hotel was comfortable and reasonable city room. We were travelling with our 21 year old daughter who shared a room with us and suffient space. We found the bar a tad more expensive than we had expected and limited bar menu. However, this is a wonderful city with loads of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. San Francisco does have a lot of homeless people and there is a local homeless shelter beneath the hotel. 5/10 minutes walk into the Centre / pier area of San Francisco. We took the Big Bus tour on the second day which was a grea way to see this wonderful (but cold) city. Our hop on, hop off tour was valid for 2 days and also included a night tour to see the night lights. This tour will also take you over the Golden Gate Bridge and then you can explore Sausalito, which is a beautiful little town, and much warmer too! We also visited Alcatraz, which is a must do for anyone visiting San Francisco for the first time. After San Francisco we then picked up a hire car and drove to Pismo Beach, then to Los Angeles and then finally to San Diego where we dropped the car off. I have only driven in th States once before and we had the benefit of a lovely large SUV, but must say that I found the drive to Pismo a bit challenging in places. One had such a steep drop, for miles on a freeway but that's the way it is when you are driving through the mountains. However, if faced with this trip again I would certainly fly from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The overnight stay at PIsmo Beach was quite frankly a waste of time. Loved San Francisco and we all said that we would certainly return again at some point in the future. Collapse
