We stayed at Paramount for a week, they charged us us$260.00 amenities fees. I felt ripped off. I definitely do not recommend this hotel. Abusive hidden fees. Dirty rooms and rude staff. If anyone reads this, I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

From the outside this hotel looks like a Grand Old Dame! Inside it’s surprisingly modern but extremely dark. I had been expecting something more classic. On a beautiful sunny day in the lobby you’d think it was night out. Our regular room was the same tiny size as every other regular hotel room in the area. There’s a double bed wedged into one corner that takes up 75% of the space in the room, a rectangular plexiglass table which is about 3 foot long, and maybe 10 inches wide with a modern round chair & a night stand. We did not set up the folding luggage rack because if we had, we would not have been able to move. A flat screen TV is mounted on the wall about waist height for viewing from bed. You get a tiny closet, less than 18 inches wide with two deep drawers & a safe inside. The problem is there is only about 2 inches of space that hang down to the floor which was a concern because we were in town for a black tie event & my gown barely had room to hang straight. The space between the hanging bar & the top of the safe was so short, we could not hang my husband’s tuxedo up. It remained out of the closet hanging on a wall hook by the bathroom, which was fine, but sort of negated the purpose of a closet. The bathroom is tiny but serviceable. I liked the red accent wall. The complimentary soaps were top quality. I did not care for the sink itself which reminded me of the type of stainless steel fixture you’d find in a prison. Our view was across an alley directly into the room across the way. The room was quiet & we did not hear any street noise which was a welcome respite from the hustle & bustle of nearby Times Square. Friends who also stayed at the hotel paid $30 per night for an upgrade. They got a king sized bed, which you can walk around on both sides & a much larger bathroom. If you are staying for more than 1-2 nights, get the upgrade! There were a few minor things that bugged me. The front door of the hotel is heavy. It was sometimes tough to open so I often wondered where the doorman disappeared to. The inner glass doors could be downright unwieldy & took all my strength when the wind tunnel would form when the outer doors were open. I could never find a housekeeper to request an extra bath towel. They only give you two. After the 1st day when they cleaned, they took all the washcloths & didn’t replace them. The bedsheets were a crisp white & there was a nice thick blanket in the closet. The room did not have an ice bucket nor did I ever see a place to get ice. Although the lobby was spacious & had many conversation areas, it was always crowded. There were just constantly people everywhere. I have no idea why they weren’t in their rooms or out exploring the City. When we checked in Friday evening, there was a line. Granted it was only about 8-10 groups ahead of us which would have been fine except there was only one check in person working. There were two other people back there but we were told they could not check us in. Check out on Sunday was mass confusion. The lobby was packed, standing room only. The hotel offers luggage storage for $2 per bag, which is a good deal. I’d say 20% of the lobby floor was covered in bags. It was organized chaos which gigantic lines to check your bag and people everywhere. Again, whether people were checking in or out I did not see the allure of sitting in that dark lobby with no view. There weren’t even a lot of plugs for recharging a phone. The elevator cars were even darker than the lobby. Sometimes it was hard to see the buttons to push the correct floor. It was that dark. There is a small convenience “store” in the lobby if you forgot something or want a snack of candy or chips. It also sells over the counter remedies: cold medicine, aspirin, antacids etc. You will pay the hotel premium for this convenience. If you walk 1 block back to 8th Avenue, there is a Duane Reed drug store on 48th Street. Overall we would stay here again. Collapse

It's a modern and neat hotel right next to Times Square. Room was super simple and small with a no view, but ok for a couple of nights. It has a souvenir shop, bar, restaurant and gym which I didn't even get to see. Concierge there was very helpful. Additional $ 35/ night were added to the cost of stay as a "resort fee". That included access to Wi-Fi and unlimited international phone calls which was very convenient as I had to resolve issues with my return international flight. Best part is that it's right next to the Times Square. Collapse

This 4 star rating is beyond deceitful. I literally didn’t sleep because I was so creeped out and disgusted. The place is filthy! Carpets, bedding, walls, bathroom, everything is dirty and gross. It was dark and smelled horrible. The heater was loud and ineffective. The room was tiny and they overcharged you for “resort fees” when the place is barely a Motel 6. The online photos are false advertisement as the reality of the accommodations look nothing like that. I’m so glad I was only there for a night. I literally sat up all night and checked out before 6am. I wanna report fraud to my bank. That’s how horrible it was. Run away! Do not book here! Collapse
