Compared to my last New York city hotel experience this place was excellent. I had to leave my last hotel and get another one it was so bad. So I know standards in New York for hotels are pretty low unless money is no object, so I was prepared for the worse and was pleasantly surprised. The reception was lovely and the rooms were clean and functional. What other reviewers say is true, the rooms are small and even smaller given that I was sharing a room with my partner and our two young children, whilst I was on a business trip. We would not have been able to move if we did put a crib in the room, so my nearly two year old slept in a double with his Dad with pillows on the floor in case! The rooms were cleaned every day with new towels etc. The location is excellent for me for work and for my partner and kids to explore New York, you could not be much closer to Times square! Good point for discovery. But its not luxury at all and very basic, I want to be a bit more comfortable than this these days. The carpets were worn and it wasn't a room you wanted to relax in. I also find it quite frustrating they charge for wifi and to look after your bags after check out. I think these things should be free in any good hotel. Over all not bad, but will look for something else on my next trip. They have not got me hooked! Collapse
Lots of special treatment

Stayed here one night for my sister-in-laws birthday. We were treated so special by Sheena Jobe! Beautiful, soothing lobby with a wonderful woodsy odor. Room was smallish but we were only there for sleeping. Good price was more important!

Stayed at the Paramount hotel 10-16th Jan, should have been 9th but BA cancelled our flight at the last minute. Hotel is literally 1 minute walk to Time Square so great location. Rooms are as previously mentioned on others reviews, really small However the bed was very comfortable and as we were out more than in, it wasn't a problem, the bed was changed Dailey with clean towels provided, I don't however think they had used a duster for a while . The lobby is very dark but nice, we didn't use the bar and grill because we didn't really know it was there. Check inn was quick and friendly, when I explained that we had been delayed and it was my daughters 18th birthday present, the lady said she'd upgrade us to queen size, not sure what queen size is in America I would say that was a double by UK size, anyway we didn't encounter any problems with the hotel. Great location, close to subway, situated on restaurant row, hop on hop off bus directly opposite, that however takes forever 1.5 hours to get down to where 9/11 is, far quicker to use the subway. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes if the price is right Collapse
Overpriced but in good location.

Perfect location in middle of midtown. Close to Time Square, Empire state building, many theaters around, hell's kitchen area with all restaraunts around, port autority bus station, can take bus to Jersey garden outlet less then 30 min away. Beautiful lobby, with lot of seating area. Good manager, I asked to cancel 2 night of our 6 night stay and manager did cancel even if in my reservation says clear non refundable (thank you manager from reservation team, i'm sorry don't remmember his name). Luggage service and doorman. Nice coffee places just outside hotel. But very small room, family of 4 stayed in double bedroom wasn't enough space to walk , with all luggage, no space in cupboard to put stuff in, barely enough for 3 jackets, so we kept our clothes in luggages and trying to walk somehow, tiny bathroom. Room and corridors need better maintaining, stains on carpets, bad paint on doors, our window wasn't closing as its should, so its was letting cold air get in. Very loud a/c which heating for few minutes and then cooling straight after it, so it's actually was never warm enough. Was very expensive for what you have even if it's was new year eve's it's wasn't worth the money. Too expensive for what we had. Collapse

Definitely not worth the more than $400 that this room cost me for one night (and that was the price with a Groupon discount). We (me, husband, 13 year old child, 9 year old child) stayed for 1 night (december 29th, 2016). We had a room with 2 double beds and a bathroom. I think we were on the 5th floor (I can't remember). The room was the very last room at the end of the hall. There was no view at all, but for a 5th floor room in NYC that is to be expected I think (also not a big deal bc we were in the city to be out in the city, not sit in the hotel and look out the window). The good: -the location is convenient if you are going to shows or want to be near the hustle-bustle of times square -the location is convenient to the subway (but most of nyc is, too) -it's a quick 2-3 block walk to hell's kitchen where there are lots of restaurant options -it is walk-able to penn station if you are taking the train (it's a long walk but we did it) -the concierge service is great in that you are able to leave your luggage with them for free prior to check in and then they only charge $2 per bag to hold it for you after check out, so you can still run around and explore the city and then just come grab your bag(s) before you head home. -the lobby is gorgeous and comfortable -the coffee shop at the front entrance is very nice. a great alternative to the over-priced breakfast at the restaurant. -the room was clean. not spotless, but clean the not-so-good -the rooms are tiny, it's nyc-so it's expected but...there is not enough space for your luggage. There is no table or whatever to keep your bags on-we had our backpack and purses piled in a corner on the floor-which I think is pretty gross. -some of the staff was great but some were just icy. The girl who I spoke with when I did my 'pre-check in ' upon arrival was super nice and the guys who took our luggage and stored it were also very nice. There was a guy on the sidewalk twice when we left the hotel-I think he worked there because he appeared to be in a uniform-it looked like maybe he was who you would ask to get you a cab or something. He never said hello or opened a door or asked us if we needed a car or directions or anything when we were leaving despite making eye contact. Also, at check in time (which starts at 4) they have someone who stands near the desks and directs the next person waiting in line to check in (more on this in a minute) to the next available counter. When I asked her (nicely, not in a crappy/complaining way) if it was always so busy at check in she replied very cooly that yes, it was, it was a popular hotel and I only want to stay at the best, right so that's why it was so busy-she did not offer any kind of apology or anything at all about the wait. -the wait to check-in is ridiculous. I stood in line (after hoofing it all over the city during the day) for about 40-45 minutes waiting to check in. *Check in begins at 4. I got to the hotel to check in a little after 5....so it's not even like I was there as soon as check-in started. That is an unacceptable amount of time to wait, IMO. -The walls in the rooms are not well insulated. As I mentioned, our room was the very last room at the end of the hall. We were exhausted and went to bed pretty early-around 9:30/9:45. We were woken up by very loud talking which sounded like it was coming from either right next door or right outside our door. It was not muffled talking-it was loud and clear and very disruptive. It woke us all up (and my kids and I sleep through noise easily-my husband had full band practice in our house a couple of days a week for 8+ years). -There is a silly fee added to your bill for the amenities. It was only like $15 but seriously, for a room that expensive I think it is BS. There were no amenities.... -the shower/shower curtain smelled a little moldy -the sink had no counter around it (it was a pedestal style) so putting on makeup was a chore bc there was no place to lay out your stuff. Summary: If your priority is proximity to theatres, then this is a good hotel for you. Otherwise, try someplace else. I definitely would not pay to stay here again. Misc: There is a little pizza place like one or two doors down that looks like it would be really good BUT I found it totally underwhelming. We much preferred La Famiglia Collapse
