I would highly recommend staying in the Palm Beach Hotel, we stayed there from 24/12 - 31/12/16 it is an amazing hotel, the staff on reception were very helpful, the room was spotlessly clean, which is a credit to the lady who cleaned our room everyday, the staff in the dining area were so lovely and polite and always willing to help. We had Christmas lunch there and I am a vegetarian and the staff couldn't do enough to make sure I was catered for. Absolutely fantastic stay thank you to ALL the staff there, we had a great holiday! My wife and I stayed at the Palm Beach Hotel from 20th December 2016 until 3rd January 2017. We were joined there by a sister from the UK and a brother an sister-in-law from Spain who had booked independently. Although our flight landed at roughly 18.30 hours we did not arrive at the hotel until 21.45 hours caused in the main by wrongly booking the coach transfer. We had to wait whilst other flight arrived and then suffer two hours and one half travelling from the airport to the hotel. Yes, the journey from the airport to the hotel took longer than the flight from Gatwick. On arrival we were well greeted and ushered into the dining room which was about to close which we much appreciated. On arrival in our room the fist check is always the beds which initially we found to be good and with what appeared to be fairly new mattresses. However, our pleasure was short lived as the mattress protectors and sheets were far too small for the mattress. From our vast experience we knew this meant that the sheet would not hold the protector in place and soon after retiring for the night we would be lying on wrinkles resulting in poor quality sleep. The second port of call was the bathroom where we found the bottom of the door rotting away and scraping the floor when it was opened. We returned to reception and were offered one of the newly refurbished rooms. Whilst this room was better in terms of decoration it was lacking in storage space and the same problem existed with the inadequate mattress protector and sheets. As we were very tired we decided to sleep on it and review the situation in the morning. As our original room was on the 8th floor and the alternative was on the first floor we considered that to avoid possible noise problems with the lower floor we would remain in our 8th floor room. We partially solved the mattress protector problem by removing it. It didn't stop the wrinkling problem but it did help. During the remainder of our stay we found the following problems: - (i) SMOKING. There was a smoking area immediately in front of the automatic doors to main entrance to the hotel which as the smokers gathered caused the doors to remain in the open position allowing the smoke and cold air to enter the foyer. Smoking is also permitted on all balconies so that no-smkers cannot escape from the smell of the smoke and therefore had to keep the balcony door closed to prevent clothing and the soft furnishings from becoming contaminated. (ii) OUTDOOR POOL AREA. Whilst the pool area was often the only place on site that benefitted from sunshine it was out of bounds and kept locked. (iii) CORRIDORS. Whilst I did not check all floors those that I did all had cheap laminate flooring so badly fitted that a very poor do-it-yourselfer could have done better. Even worse though was that for two people to pass meant that you had to pass crab like. The width was little more than one metre and even less where there were pillars. I would consider that these corridors would fail a health and safety inspection in the UK. (iv) TOILET SYSTERN. Our toilet systern was connected in some way to the hot water system which caused condensation on the seat and lid if they were left in the closed position. It also meant you got a bottom sauna at every use. (v) QUIETE AREA. The only relatively quiet area we found was in the foyer and then there was only six armchairs and two settees as seating provision. (vi) HOT DRINKS AT MEAL TIMES. Hot drinks were only available in the dining room at breakfast which meant a return journey to the bar some 200 metres away to acquire one. (vii) HOT DRINKS AT THE BAR. Being teetotal I often prefer a hot drink rather than a cold one. Only once in two weeks was I given what I considered to be a "hot chocolate" the remainder of the time they were lukewarm. (vii) BAGGAGE STORE. Whilst there was a baggage store it was not secure and was therefore useless. (ix) CARD TABLES. There are three well appointed chess tables with boards that can be reversed to allow cards to be played. however none was at all suitable for cards as the felt was worn through. (x) TEAM MAKING FACILITIES. There are no team making facilities so a early morning cuppa is to of the question. In conclusion I would say that this must be a self rated four star hotel which in my opinion would struggle to reach a two star rating if correctly assessed. If it were not for the fact that I arranged to stay there with my family my wife and I would have been gone. Collapse

We have just arrived home from Palm Beach/Don Jorge Apartments. We stayed in the Don Jorge Apartments where the Palm Beach Hotel is basically the sister hotel. On arrival we went to check in at Palm Beach where we were greeted with a beautiful hall/reception area. Another couple besides us, who were departing, overheard us saying how nice the reception was and they said to us "That's where the 4 star finishes" We shrugged it off and put it down to them having a bad experience. We gave our credit card has the 150 euro damages deposit and in return we got to the 2 bedroom apartment. At first glances it was ok, clean, had all the facilities you could want if you were self-catering (we was all inclusive) and good views looking over Benidorm. We wasn’t inspecting a top notch apartment suite but it was ok. If I was being picky the apartment had some defects, I were thinking in the back of my head upon departure, I hope they don’t blame us for these! They hadn’t, and we were on our way. There was one major defect which were an electrical socket in the living room area had been smashed and little finger could have easily got in there. We covered the area with furniture. The other things we found were the shower holder didn’t hold the shower head, the metal tower holder had been kinked at some point, limited amount of hot water from the water tank and the shower cubicle leaked massive amount of water when used, due to the curtain actually being on the outside of the area it is supposed to cover. The walk to the beach isn’t too bad downhill, but mind the first road you walk down towards the beach, because it’s covered in dog poo. Residents of this particular area don’t like cleaning their dog’s mess. We nicknamed it Dog Poo Alley. The hill is a killer to climb back to the hotel, but the Palm Beach do offer a shuttle service up and down the hill, quite an often service too. The chap who drives is brilliant and a quality guy. Our last day here, he was very ill, and just wasn’t ok to work, let alone drive in my opinion, but he battled on just to offer the service. The restaurant food in all honesty wasn’t bad, it had pizza, chips and nuggets. The English breakfast every morning was my favourite after a swim in the indoor pool. Swim caps required if you want to use this facility, this is also where you can find the gym and the sauna. The bar, during our stay, it had a mixture of music English/Spanish, mostly elderly Spanish folk who were dancing the tango (or something like that). One night we had a quiz which were good and enjoyed that. The pub area also has 2 pool tables, internet, ps2 gaming console and a few other machines/rides for the younger ones. We wanted to extend our room till 4pm on departure but wasn’t allowed to do so until the morning of departure, which in my view couldn’t see why?? There were two bad bits for us during our stay/experience; - The night before New Year’s Eve (30th), the hotel were flooded with young Spanish teenagers, yes teenagers, who caused havoc right threw the night 4am?? Screaming/Banging/Screeching/ some Barking. Others calling lifts, leaving alcohol on the floors and jamming lift doors open so they wouldn’t operate. In the Don Jorge Apartments. The 2 security guards just couldn’t cope with it. I and a lot of others were fuming and complained throughout the night and asking them, to get them out. We were told that they couldn’t because they can’t throw out the teenagers onto the street? Yet they can book an apartment? New Year’s Eve we were expecting the worst and we heard nothing! Go figure. - Palm Beach offered New Year’s Eve meals the guests in the hotel, which is fine, but they stopped our all-inclusive?? We was told that all travel agents had been notified yet not one of the people who I talked to had been told this. We were also told by reception that they couldn’t cope with the demand and to the New Year’s Eve meals. So we had to go out for a meal even though we were All Inclusive. It would have been nice to have been told. Families on a budget would have struggled with this and I hope they learn from this year’s shenanigans and get it right the next. Collapse

Palm Beach was a nice hotel reception staff very welcoming and helpful. We were there for 2 nights which included New Years Eve gala dinner with its many courses which unfortunately was not very hot but over all it was good. The room we were in was quite comfortable. But because of where it is it is very hilly so unfortunately won't be able to stay there again, the hotel does have a mini bus but with the amount of people it's not enough. But thanks again for a lovely New Year..... Collapse
