We had a very nice short stay in this modern, comfortable hotel, which is located in the heart of Sliema. Our room was modern and well-equipped, with a huge bed, small balcony overlooking the street, efficient heating (good in January!) and all the usual: wi fi, TV, minibar etc etc, We didn't use the restaurants, but did use the sauna and steam rooms. The hotel has a fitness suite, indoor pool, spa and, on the roof, a terrace and infinity pool, although this area was closed for winter unfortunately, as the views would have been something! Walking to either waterfront takes about five minutes and on the Valetta side you come out directly opposite the ferry. Hang a right here and you'll get to some decent bars and restaurants. Check out Brew, a bar with microbrewery, if you enjoy a pint. The hotel has its own underground car park. If you pull up outside the main entrance you'll need to go round the block. The published prices are quite steep, but if you're a hotel guest, swap your ticket on reception and you just pay two euros every time you drive out. The reception staff are very friendly and efficient. Definitely a good choice for a city break with Valetta a short boat ride away, and it's easy to explore the island by car or bus. Lots to see if you appreciate history especially. Collapse

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. Every member of staff is focussed on you the guest, a happy friendly team for whom nothing is too much trouble. This was our first trip to Malta, which is a magical island with very kind and friendly people. This hotel made it extra special, and we will definitely be returning to sample some more of the generous hospitality. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is very good, and the location is perfect. Collapse

I thought the following letter summed up very well how our party of twelve senior citizens felt about our wonderful Christmas Day lunch at The Palace Hotel, Sliema. To Mr Slyvan Azzopardi, Events Manager Dear Mr Azzopardi Thank you very much for arranging our table so beautifully! Everything went wonderfully well and we really cannot find fault with any of the arrangements for the service of the food, presentation, attentiveness of the staff, table decorations, supply of wines and water. Our table was extremely animated and, considering the fact that most of us were somewhat advanced in years with the eldest at the table a sprightly 87 and the next most senior, our great dancer a mere 80, I am afraid that we were still enjoying ourselves at the table after 5.00. All credit to you, your staff, the chefs and the hotel. I hope that your work and conscientiousness will be properly rewarded and that you will now have some time off for your own family and friends. The next question is: will you be putting on something similar for Easter? With every best wish for the new year 2017, Candida Hasselman Collapse

Not a 5 star hotel, felt like we had same bed sheets for all of our stay (can't feel or smell the difference), breakfast had many things but most of them poor quality. Room wardrobe -an ugly box, bathroom had a big open space that didn't give you the privacy that you need...hotel lobby design - cold and old fashioned. Don't expect a lot...plus you have to pay everything upon arrival.A trick probably - you can't go away... Collapse

The Palace is definitely a nice hotel - but not a luxurious one. The most glaring issue we confronted was that the bathroom was not fully enclosed - so anything you did in the bathroom echoed throughout the room. We ended up using the toilet downstairs most of the time, just to avoid any uncomfortable issues that can normally be solved by closing the door. The staff was wonderful. They were helpful and quick to jump in if they saw they were needed. They spoke multiple languages as well. We took the breakfast rate, and you can certainly eat a full, decent breakfast. The fresh omelets are good, however the rest of the breakfast is not very exciting. The staff is very good about filling coffee and tea and keeping everything stocked. We did both the late night Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas lunch buffet. The food for both was FANTASTIC. However, our table was placed directly in front of the toilets and we had the only table with no Christmas crackers on it. I realize that it sounds petty to list this, however the dinners were very expensive. We paid the same price as everyone else, but were not given the same product, we were given an inferior one. It left a very bad taste in our mouth about the hotel in general. The decor in the rooms is a bit dated, and there was only one working power outlet (near the bed). It is very far from any mirrors, so if you normally curl your hair, you might have to resign yourself to pony tails for the duration of your stay. The location is great - very central and just a short walk to anything in Sliema. On the whole, the hotel needs work - but the staff are fantastic. Collapse
