Palace Hotel is a great hotel for visiting Malta. Sliema is an ideal position to explore all of Malta as nothing is very far away. Easiest way is by local bus which for the sum of €1.50 you can travel for 2 hours. Hotel is only a short walk downhill from the bus and ferry services. Although rated as a 5 star hotel I think it would be fair to say this is not by UK standards, don't get me wrong, but I would say a very good 4 star would be a more accurate description. Hotel is modern light and airy, as are the rooms. We had a very nice room on the 8th floor and very quiet for an urban hotel. Beds was supremely comfortable and slept very well. Being modern it has a few quirky design features which makes you think the designer didn't ever try out their room. I've never been a fan of semi open bathrooms en suite, can't quite understand why it needs to be open, also my wife said lighting was very poor, obviously the designer never wore makeup! Another small niggle, why put reading light switches out of reach when lying in bed. Please don't be put off by my little criticisms, this is a very nice and well placed hotel. Food, I must say again I'm not a fan of buffet style food, but this one is in a different league. Every night we were treated to a different themed dinner and the choice and quality was amazing. We were never disappointed and never chose to eat out as the food was so good. Breakfast was also very good with a huge choice from Chef cooked omelettes to order or a full english from the buffet. This hotel is the only one that seems to have cracked scrabbled eggs on a buffet, always soft and fluffy not the solid congealed lump which you often get. This is a lovely hotel with very polite and friendly staff and would definitely chose to stay here again. Collapse

We really enjoyed ourselves at this hotel. The staff went out of their way to make sure every need was met. The restaurant was one of the best I've seen on my vacation. Each night was a different theme from different countries. Lebanese was my favorite. Fantastic desserts. I can not say enough about the food. The spa and fitness was excellent! Thank you for a wonderful stay. Collapse

I have to start the review with the caveat that we were very luckily upgraded from our 'executive room' to a junior suite. An occurrence that started our 5 night trip to Malta on a wonderful high. We were shown to our room by Andrew, the concierge, a very pleasant, extremely helpful man, who we had the privilege to encounter a few times during our stay. Andrew showed us the suite and very well appointed it was. With a separate luggage room by the entrance doorway, leading onto a very large bedroom with a super-comfortable double, DOUBLE bed, a large seating area (with a put up bed ready made for our 7 year old). Plenty of wardrobe space, a complimentary mini bar, with beer, wine and water and an Illy espresso machine. The bathroom was pretty special too. Split into 3 rooms, one with full bath and waterfall shower, one with his and hers (or his/his or hers/hers) sinks and vanity unit, and another with toilet and bidet. Very well designed. No bathroom dramas for this family. The crowning glory was when Andrew showed us the balcony (or as he stated "the deck"....he was absolutely correct). A huge space atop the 9th floor with what could be argued was the best view the whole of Sliema has to offer. Completely stunning. A tear (probably more) was seen in my wife's eye. And to wake up to that view each morning, was an absolute joy. We considered ourselves to be very lucky indeed. Whilst we didn't take advantage of all that the hotel had to offer, the facilities we did use were exceptional. The rooftop pool (which we were under the impression would be closed) was a lovely space, where we spent some time swimming in the (quite cold at this time of year) infinity pool, sunbathing and indulging in a few cocktails from the pool bar. We probably used the indoor pool more often than the outdoor and it was beautifully designed. With a steam room, sauna and "rainforest" shower. My wife also used and enjoyed the gym. As we had come to Malta with other family that were staying elsewhere, we ate outside of the Palace for every meal except for breakfast on the last day. It was the best breakfast we had in all our time in Malta and made me wish we'd eaten at the hotel more often...next time. Our room was kept in immaculate condition, by Kristine, and she certainly looked after our son. With pillow chocolates, towel animals and more. To be honest, we never actually saw her...but i would like to thank her for taking great care of us. A lovely hotel. Very elegant and I believe worthy of each of those 5 stars. Collapse

The room was lovely, with a giant double bed and balcony with lovely views of Valletta and the sea. It was kept sparkling clean, and everyone working at the hotel were very friendly. The air-conditioning was not working very well, I couldn't get the temperature down no mater what I did. The breakfast selection was excellent and the lunch was amazing. I especially enjoyed the different pasta dishes. Collapse
