Awesome buffet breakfast! The restaurants are ok - best roam Sun City for your taste preference - plenty options available. Service generally good and most staff are friendly. Spacious room with everything at your fingertips. Good stay overall.

We completed our holiday in South Africa with 5 nights at the Palace in Sun City which was intended to be the down time part of our holiday. Key points: Room - This was incredibly spacious and worked well for us. - It was handy having a bathroom with an additional toilet off the living room. - We were greeted with a fruit basket and bottle of sparkling wine which was a nice touch. - Each night we would return to the room to a bottle of chilled water and our beds turned down. - The room was well equipped with everything we needed including good standard and plentiful toiletries. - The tea and coffee station was great. Restaurants/bars - We are lucky to stay in a number of 5 star hotels over the years. This was the best breakfast buffet we have ever experienced. Yes some mornings were busy but the staff were attentive and tried to ensure you were seated promptly. The food was excellent, a well stocked fruit and omelette station with no queues. - We enjoyed regular drinks at the tusk bar, staff were friendly and drinks reasonably priced. General - All staff were friendly. We were introduced to a butler who would assist with bookings and the like, and also they called each evening with the offer of a drink/canapés. Whilst the intent here is good we did not like the persistance of the butler which included telephone calls questioning where we had been and many knocks on the door. We chose to ignore all contact in our last few days and they got the message. - The pool was very nice although the beds are now quite old and not the most comfortable, the waiter service around the pool was very good and I enjoyed my back/shoulder massage. - You can connect directly from the hotel to the water park and this looked good although the day we visited the water park it was dead with only one other family there. As its approaching Winter temperatures were early to mid 20's which was good for us English but we suspect this out a lot of people off. - The shuttle/car service from the hotel to the casino/welcome centre was excellent. On occasions we went in the Mercedes saloon car and felt very special. - We didn't eat in the hotel as we preferred to visit the casino area and welcome/entertainment area where there were plenty of restaurants. There is a diverse number of cultures at the hotel and the hotel cater well for this. I was surprised to witness a certain arrogance from some cultures where male members of families felt they should not have to wait in a queue at reception or for tables in the restaurant. This is disappointing and I soon put one Indian gentleman in his place when he tried to queue jump at reception. I could also see this caused frustration to some staff particularly at breakfast. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in returning if we visit South Africa again. Collapse

We had a superb experience at The Palace of The Lost City in Sun City. The cordial welcome from the reception, at the main entrance, the staff parking cars, taking our luggage, were out of this world.I would say, we received a "Royal Treatment". Well looked after establishment, cleanliness, spot on, staff well trained. It was a long weekend (Freedom Day in SA), and the establishment was fully booked, but the efficiency on the staff, and the way they managed to serve their delicious buffet breakfast, you could tell that they're serving Kings and Queens of this world. To sum up everything, the service's amazing, we definitely received Royal Treatment. we thank you, my family really enjoyed themselves. can't wait to be there shortly. Collapse

This is a beautiful Resort, I'd give it 5 stars but it's starting to age, I'm sure it was amazing in it's day. The rooms are spacious but a bit dated. The morning/evening buffets were rrreally good, it had absolutely everything you could think of, you can either dine in or out on the balcony. The breakfast buffet came with our stay so if you can get it include it's well worth it. Alcoholic drinks are included although we didn't know the first couple days. There is an underground shopping mall, large wave pool with slides, lazy river and more. The grounds are beautiful BUT once you're taken the day to look around there isn't much more to see and you're WAY out in the middle of nowhere. So if you enjoy the sun, pool time and drinks this is the place for you. We did venture out on a couple segway tours which were fun, the off road we could have done without...one good whip out and I was ready to quit :0). There is no gym in the hotel but one in the resort area. The shuttle can take you to the Gary Player Spa, it's a small work out area but if it's not busy there is enough there to get a good workout in. It overlooks the golf course which is beautiful. My husband got one round of golf in at the Gary Player and said it was nice but wishes he would have chosen the other course there...lost ? something?. Bring lots of small 10-20 rand for tipping. I gave one driver a 200 rand tip ($20 Cdn) for a two minute ride by accident and made is day :0). The staff sure don't get paid much so we tipped pretty much everyone. We did go on the bus Safari trip on the resort but also had gone on a real one 3 hours away so this one didn't compare. Collapse
