No one goes to Hawaii thinking things will be inexpensive. Now that we have that out of the way...we chose to stay at the Outrigger Main (there are multiple Outrigger properties) when we booked via Costco Travel. Sweet deal. 5 nights at this hotel made for a relaxing and beautiful stay in Oahu. Staff were all overly courteous and accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful, but I'm not one who wears a white glove to check for perfection or gets down behind the bed to look at floor. The room was clean and smelled fresh, sheets were crisp and clean, bathroom was clean and well maintained. Was it perfect? No. Was it an excellent room in a busy hotel on a famous beach? Yes! We stayed on the 15th floor. Balcony had a nice view of the beach, looking south. Perfect beach access for this hotel, and beware, many "beachside" hotels don't have actual access. There are beach do-das to rent, umbrellas, chairs, boards, floaties, etc. 3 main choices for food in the hotel, Dukes, Chucks and Hula Grill. We tried them all. My opinion: Chucks for dinner, Hula for lunch or breakfast and Dukes for the breakfast buffet. Perfect spring break adventure! Collapse
Excellent Location; Beautiful View

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki in March for a family Spring Break Vacation with our kids, ages 9 and 12. We enjoyed every single think about our stay at the hotel and wished we could have stayed longer! This hotel is located right in the middle of the action in Waikiki. We chose it for that reason, so we were thrilled that it was right next to a lot of stores and restaurants. Considering that this a crowded area, we were surprised how calm and relaxing the actual hotel was. We could walk anywhere in Waikiki from this central location. The hotel also runs a trolley around Waikiki; we didn't use it as almost everything we did had a hotel pick up or was a pretty easy walk. Because this hotel is located right on the beach, we went swimming upon arrival and almost every night after we got back from our expeditions. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a cool towel and a fruit drink. The hotel staff was courteous and efficient. I appreciated that they explained all charges right away, even though I already was aware of a resort fee that was not included in our prepaid stay. All hotels seem to have it, so it is just the cost of traveling to Hawaii. They also explained the elevator, which was mentioned in a lot of the reviews I read. I LOVED those elevators as it made our wait so much faster. Instead of stopping at a ton of floors on our way up to the 14th floor, the elevator assigns you an elevator that only stops a couple of times. It also made it so that no one could get up to your floor from the lobby if they were not staying in the hotel. I am positive this made each floor quieter with fewer elevator stops. I wish EVERY hotel had one of these systems. I am particularly picky about a clean hotel. I often wipe up the floor of a dirty bathroom when I arrive in a hotel as it grosses me out. This hotel was very clean. I am not quite sure how she managed it, but our housekeeper (the same one every day) was able to get every grain of sand out of our room every day. The room was as clean every day as it was the first and it smelled florally fresh every single day. ANOTHER HOTEL we considered was reviewed as having roaches, which was unacceptable to us. I don't care what anyone says, you should not have to be in a hotel with cockroaches, even in a tropical climate and the Outrigger delivered the clean hotel we expected. When we arrived at our room, I was really nervous about noise as we were right next to an elevator. Normally, I would have asked to be moved, but after looking at the amazing view from our partial ocean view room, I thought I would try it out. I never heard a noise when I was in the room. Not a peep, a TV next door, an elevator door, nothing! I could not believe how calm and quiet our stay was. We were left to enjoy the calm of the ocean. We did not participate in most of the classes, but on our last day we did make floral decorations. The class really was awesome and the guest event leader was knowledgeable. We used orchids to make a beautiful hairpiece/bracelet. Such fun! They also teach classes like hula and do vow renewals. Great benefit. There were a couple of times that we called the bell hops for things like towels or luggage storage and I was impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Truly there was nothing we did not appreciate at this hotel. If I were to return to Waikiki, I would deftly stay at the Outrigger. Collapse

Convenient location right in the heart of the very busy Waikiki Beach area...Room was attractive, clean and decently sized with a nice sized bathroom, too (loved the makeup mirror!) The lanai (while not large) was angled, making the full ocean view we requested lovely. Below the lobby(which is on the 2nd floor) are lots of nice shops and a few restaurants. We ate at Duke's and Hula Grill, and enjoyed the food, drinks and service at both. We were able to book a tour of Pearl Harbor with one of several (very helpful) tour reps located on the same level. Being busy with daily excursions to the rest of the island during our brief 3 day stay, we didn't get to take advantage of the rest of the hotel's amenities. But, for our needs, the Outrigger Waikiki was an ideal choice. Collapse

We only had two nights and three days here. Far too short! But we certainly enjoyed our stay at the Outrigger Hotel on Waikiki Beach. Our room was on the 9th floor and it had partial seaview, and that was already pretty amazing! The room was big enough for the four of us (2 adults and 2 young children). It was comfortable and very nice. The bathroom tho was tiny, especially the shower. Never seen a shower that small before. The hotel was nice, really great location with so many great boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurant nearby. There was a pool but it wasn't very big. But who needs a big pool when the hotel is right on Waikiki beach!!! The beach was amazing!!! So beautiful! The hotel coffeehouse was Duke's restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We'd definitely come back and stay here again if we were in Honolulu again. Collapse

Stay at this hotel everytime we go to Hawaii. Didn't give it a 5 because the last time we stayed there they kept running out of towels and umbrellas for the beach and they were doing construction and it started VERY EARLY in the morning.
