The Outrigger Reef in Waikiki was a great start to our vacation. Felt welcomed upon checking in. The hotel is centrally located. Our rooms had views of Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and the beautifully landscaped pool below. The trolley was a short walk and the driver was funny, friendly and informative. I ate the best mahi mahi tacos from the food trucks a short walk away. Collapse

We recently spent 3 nights at the Outrigger Reef. Our room was spacious, and we had a balcony overlooking the pool and out to the ocean. Beautifully cleaned and tidied each day. We had paid extra for a Voyager Club room and so had our breakfast each morning on their deck overlooking the ocean. Drinks and snacks in the evening there also. Worth the extra money. The hotel had a good range of shops, but also easy walking distance to local shopping streets. The staff were excellent. Collapse

This is a great place to stay for everyone. I spent 10 nights here, with my Mom. We had a small, but comfortable room. The amenities at the hotel are great. Nice pool, 24 hour gym, Starbucks and cute activities. (Lei making). There is lovely Hawaiian music every evening to listen to.. The hotel is right on the beach, and you can rent chairs and Umbrellas for 2 hours or more. Use the coupons in the book they give you, for discounts on this. My only complaint is with the restaurants in the hotel. We had poor service at both the Shorebird and Kani Ka Pila Grille. The food was less than stellar as well. There are so many places to eat in the area, they should up their game. Overall,The Outrigger Reef feels like a home away from home. Collapse

This was our 2nd stop of the holiday having already done 3 brilliant days in San Francisco. We arrived at approx 4pm to be greeted by friendly bell boys who took our luggage and led us to reception where we were given cold towels and a cool drink. The receptionist was very friendly and we were given a lovely room on the 7th floor with good sideways views of the ocean. The room was quite big and had everything we could need - a very comfortable large king bed with soft pillows, plenty of storage, a bath and shower with good toiletries, a lovely large bathroom, a safe, fridge, hairdryer and iron. Maid service was excellent on the first 4 days thanks to Sonia but not as good on the next 3 when she went on holiday. The hotel is a nice size with a good size pool and 3 lush Jacuzzis, a nice bar beside the pool serving cocktail and other beverages as well as lovely afternoon meals. The nachos were too die for and the servings were huge. Towels are issued out but be careful to sign them back in or you might vet charged for them! There are loads of sun loungers but hardly any umbrellas which is a problem when the sun is high but not a problem later on as the building gives lots of shade during the afternoon. There are lots of shops on the grounds but they tend to be a bit pricey. There is also a Starbucks and a mini market for groceries. There are also 2 restaurants for evening meals although I think the shorebird is being renovated now. We enjoyed a lush steak with all you can eat buffet and lots of cocktails. The beach is right outside the restaurants and it was lovely enjoying our evening meal overlooking the sea. However on days when the sea was a bit rough they had to close off the entrance from the beach into the hotel as some of the waves were coming right up to the steps. They had to build up mounds of sand to make barriers. In a few years time thus is going to be a big problem as most of the beach will be gone in front of the hotel. Walk to the right of the exit and there is a lovely stretch of beach and there is also a couple of little takeaway food places - subway, the steak shack and a Chinese. We used all 3 but did not enjoy the Chinese!. The steak shack was the best The Hilton is not far from the outrigger and the fireworks on Friday night were brilliant also we found out when we were there that the film Blue Hawaii was filmed right there so being big Elvis fans we were ecstatic and went to investigate the hotel where we found lots of information on a wall mirage about elvis and the Hilton hotel. Brilliant. We also renewed our wedding vows on the beach on a lovely morning. It was a very moving service and we have memories to cherish forever. Thank you to the lovely receptionist who squeezed us in the night before. Book early! The hotel is near to lots of top end shops and lots of restaurants and eating places. It's nice to be able to go into all the hotels for a look around as well. We passed through the Sheraton to get to Waikiki beach for a day on the beach. It was lots of fun as the waves are quite high and it was good to know life guards are watching out for people in trouble We also visited diamond head using the trolley service provided by the hotel. In fact we went round all the stops and learned a lot about the area from the driver. Brilliant We also went to pearl harbour but we booked this tour in advance. Also well worth visiting but next time we might do it on our own as felt rushed. We were sad to leave and on our last day we paid to keep the room on until 4pm as were not leaving until 7pm. We then were able to put the luggage into storage and enjoy our evening meal with a couple of drinks before the shuttle picked us up we would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were all Lovely, the grounds are Lovely, the room was clean and comfortable. Everything we could have wished for. Collapse
