This resort is awesome! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded when we checked in and the view was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is walking distance from the trolley stop, stores and restaurants. The beach front restaurants are nice and gives you the feel of being in true paradise. This was my first time visiting Hawaii and I would definitely stay here again. Travel agent Carey Discroll from Beach Bum Vacation recommended this resort and did a great job booking and providing assistance to us. Collapse

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this resort hotel right on the beach (although it must be said that the beach is very narrow at this point – it gets wider further west). The hotel is located towards the western end of Waikiki beach and very near all the designer shops. It has a medium sized pool and plenty of sun loungers. You can pick up a towel for the beach or the pool at the poolside. If you are a beach lover there are sun beds for hire on the beach. Otherwise buy a straw mat for a few dollars in the local ABC shop. I was fortunate to get an early check in as my plane landed at 6am. They phoned me to let me know when my room was ready. I only had to wait a couple of hours (which I spent on the Waikiki Connection Trolley - included in your hotel package). I had, in the interests of economy (and the fact that my own home overlooks the sea) asked for a no view room. My view was indeed another part of the hotel but to the side I could in fact see the sea (Room 522). The balcony has a table and two chairs. The room was spacious with two small double beds and plenty of storage space and a desk. It had a safe, fridge, iron, ironing board, good hairdryer, magnifying mirror and coffee (percolator) and tea making facilities. There was air conditioning and an extra large sized television. The wifi connection was included in the connection fee and good. In the basement there is well equipped gym with machines familiar to most parts of the world. There is also a pay to use guest laundry next to the gym. There is live music by the pool every evening and a happy hour between 3 and 6pm. The snacks are rather good (sliders). I am not convinced about the Waikiki Connection Fee - maybe it should be better hidden in the cost of the room! However whilst only using the trolley a couple of times I did use the discounts to get into the Iolani Palace. The daily bottled water is also useful. I got a slightly later checkout (1pm) which was perfect. There is a room you can use for half an hour to shower and change if you wish to stay later. Collapse

My husband, our 3 kids and I stayed here on our vacation. The room was beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was friendly and when you first arrive they give you this really tasty juice for everyone. There are these neat little shops in the lobby that do not gouge you with their prices. one of them is a little convenience type store that sells medicine, sunscreen and things along those lines. You can walk right out of the hotel onto a really nice beach and rent umbrellas, water bikes and paddle boards. The breakfast buffet at the Shore Bird restaurant is the absolute best! The Ocean View is great too, a little bit on the pricier side. You get a complimentary 2 drinks and they give you a little coupon book too! I would recommend this hotel to anyone! I defiantly want to go back! The only thing I didn't like was our card key kept acting up and you need them to work the elevators, but the staff was very friendly when I had to ask for a new one. We have just returned from a 5 night stay in Waikiki at this hotel. The Outrigger Reef is located in the middle of everything in Waikiki - right on the beach, just a short stroll from the iconic Waikiki beach, surrounded by loads of shops and restaurants all within a short walking distance from the hotel. Thanks to a delayed flight courtesy of Delta, we arrived a little later than expected. Nevertheless, check-in was an absolute breeze thanks to Ambrose, who dealt with us quickly and efficiently. He explained the hotel facilities and tried to justify the resort fee. We had a deluxe Ocean view on the 9th floor. Was a bit worried at first as the room was right by the lifts, but I can honestly say that this never caused us any concern throughout our stay. The room itself was lovely, good views of the ocean and Diamond Head from the balcony. My only gripe was that the bathroom is dated and needs a refurb, and it was difficult to have a decent shower as the water temperature fluctuated and pressure was quite low. The Shore Bird restaurant is a great deal for breakfast. They have an all you can eat breakfast buffet and the hotel gives you a coupon book that has a buy one get one half price offer - also available if you buy drinks from the Shore Bird and keep the receipt. This restaurant also offers great views of the beach and ocean while you eat/drink. We also had dinner at the Kali Ka Pila Grille. Food was good, with a live band playing. We also used the onsite Starbucks which was no different to any other Starbucks! The pool area is quite large, with plenty of beds. Only issue is that the pool area doesn't have the sun all day, so a fair part is in the shade - OK when you want to cool down a bit in the heat! Was a bit surprised that the hotel didn't offer beds on the beach, but instead had to pay $50 to hire two beds for the day! Would have given the hotel 5* had it not been for the dated bathrooms and lack of sunbeds on the beach. Collapse
