We stayed at the Ommaroo for two nights. First of all the positives: The location of the hotel is excellent, just across the road from the lovely sea and a short walk into St Helier with all the shops, restaurants etc. There is a large car park at the back of the hotel which is a great help as parking is very difficult in Jersey. Also on a positive note our room was spotlessly clean with a lovely king size bed. Now for the negatives: Our room (room 1) was very small indeed and the view out was non existent. For this room we paid in excess of £100 per night and breakfast was not included which would have cost us an extra £24 for two. Had the breakfast been included in the price we would have been perfectly happy to pay what we did for the room but, without breakfast, it was not worth the money. Collapse

Stayed for a l my weekend early September Weather was warm, my room had sea views. The hotel is an old one but has character. My room was nicely done and extremely clean with a lovely bathroom. The road outside was noisy but never disturbed my sleep at all. The breakfast was a treat the waiters/waitresses were very pleasant and helpful, the full cooked Breakfast is a do it yourself affair but it was delicious. Would happily return. Is only 10mins walk from st helier centre with town walk. Collapse

Stayed here in a single sea-view room (no. 57). I really loved the view and felt it was worth paying extra for. It was a bit noisy being so close to the main road but it didn't bother me too much. I would recommend ear plugs though to avoid being woken up by cars driving past early in the morning. The bathroom was good. Shower was excellent - very powerful. The extractor fan was so quiet I wasn't completely sure if it was working or not – it might need looking at. There was no hairdryer in the room but was able to get one from reception. Hospitality tray was great - always nice to get hot chocolate as well as tea & coffee. The TV reception was a bit hit and miss on some channels. No problems with the free WiFi. The best thing about this hotel for me was the food! I stayed B&B but because I booked when there was a special offer I enjoyed a complimentary dinner on my first night, which was the Friday night seafood buffet. I don't eat a huge amount of fish but there were some great vegetarian options too. I particularly loved the watermelon & feta salad, and the brie and mushroom pasta bake. All really delicious! Chef was very friendly and explained what everything was which I appreciated. The breakfasts were also great and I looked forward to it each morning. I liked that they keep the hot food covered up so it stayed really hot. Croissants tasted very fresh and there was fresh fruit salad too. Lots of different teas available too. I would definitely stay here again. I really enjoyed my stay overall. The weather was not great, so I would like to come back sometime earlier in the summer when it's warm enough to try the hotel pool and the lido. Might bring my mother with me next time as I think she would really like staying here too. Collapse

Arrived at the Ommaroo Hotel yesterday, a little apprehensive having read previous reviews. I am here as the carer of my 88 year old parents on a first time visit to Jersey. Those of you who are single will know that despite paying double price, we end up in a miserable room with an equally miserable view. Not so at the Ommaroo, I have a spectacular sea view and my room ( no 73) is newly decorated with a fabulous recently fitted en-suite bathroom. Mum and Dad have a sea view room with a balcony (no 2) a real balcony which runs the entire length of their sumptuous rooms. They are thrilled I think weather permitting, which at the moment is brilliant sunshine, mum would be quite happy to spend her holiday sitting on the balcony. We are staying BB&D. The evening meal we had last night was wonderful, each of us thoroughly enjoyed our choice. The piece de resistance, for me, was the "snowball" dessert. The most delicious pudding I have ever tasted. Huge complements to the chef. We stayed at a London 5 star hotel in June, this hotel compared to that is outstanding. Looking forward to the rest of our stay. Collapse

We booked direct with the hotel and got a discount for two single rooms with a sea view. We were very pleased as the rooms were quiet within the hotel - no noise into the evening and although a single it had a small double which was plenty big enough for one person. Bathroom was very clean and tidy - I couldn't fault it really. The TV was losing reception (pixels) although could have been the hot weather as we were there on the hottest couple of days of the year. If you are on the front of the hotel it is a very main road so there is road noise up until around 11pm and people walking home after the pubs close but it is transitional so soon goes quiet and you can hear the sea. I think the rooms at the back of the hotel would be quieter but you don't get the view. Good location and Short walk into town or get the bus. Beach is opposite so lovely to sit on in the afternoon. The breakfast was absolutely lovely and the staff were very attentive. We are planning another trip to Jersey next year and will more than likely stay at this hotel again. Collapse
