We have just spent four brilliants nights here at The Old Government House Hotel, from our pick up from Guernsey Airport right through to our departure neither myself or Clare could fault absolutely nothing, well done the OGH team!!! We initially arrived at 4pm on Wednesday 14th March, which coincidentally was also my Birthday, we were quickly and professionally checked in and were then offered a complimentary welcome glass of wine (lovely gesture) Clare my partner had pre booked and pre paid for a superior sea view facing room as a total surprise for my Birthday, our room 108 was just lovely with a large bay window overlooking St Peter Port Harbour and Marina's the room was tastefully decorated with a huge bed, dressing table, large sofa, and two cosy chairs and small circular wooden table, the bathroom was bright and fully marble effect tiled. We had dinner in the hotel Brasserie on our arrival night (full separate report on TA) which was also a nice experience served by very professional staff. We had breakfast the following morning in the same room which again was a very pleasant, we chose eggs benedict and a full English breakfast both were well cooked (poached eggs just perfect!) with plenty of toast, preserves and tea and coffee. On day two when we left the hotel to explore St Peter Port at 9.30am we asked reception to have our room serviced, unexpectedly I had to pop back after just 30 minutes to collect something from the room and it had already been completely serviced, Amazing!!!! Our sleep quality during our four day stay was fantastic and we were both fully relaxed and rested, in fact I personally had some of the best sleeps I have had for a long time, which was surprising as the hotel is based right at the top of the town centre. In conclusion would we recommend this hotel, "Absolutely!!" Would we return "Most Definitely". Finally we would both like to say a massive "THANK YOU" to Andrew the GM and his brilliant team of people for making our stay so Memorable!!!!!! Collapse

We couldn’t fault any aspect of our stay. The staff were almost falling over themselves to help us. Definitely recommend and will return. Next time we will eat in the curry room as it looked beautiful. We had three breakfasts and ordered different ones each time - each one was great, though we preferred the poaching of the eggs to the scrambled eggs. We had room service one evening and food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. Collapse
My fight was cancelled due to snow - OGH came to my rescue with amazing service..!!!

My day trip had been a disaster waiting for my 0830 flight from Southampton to finally depart at 1130. Having rushed around seeing my customers I got back to the airport and having not eaten since 0730 I was ordering food when all flights back home were cancelled!! Faint with hunger, cold, tired I started the search for a hotel. OGH were amazing, everything was calmly done, my car was parked , my bags were carried, a drink arranged and a table for a meal booked. Feeling refreshed I came down to enjoy a curry which is one of their specialities. The hotel is old as the name suggests, grand yet homely with friendly staff with an excellent attitude towards customer service. When I got back to my room I found a bag on my bed with various gifts in it including cufflinks and a card wishing my son a happy 21st birthday... looking back I must have mentioned that I had to get home the next day to for his birthday and here was a gift - I WAS AMAZED!! In the morning I called the reception to arrange for my car to be brought around and I was asked if I would like a tea or coffee and a freshly brewed coffee was brought to me free of charge as I was settling the bill. In summary if you feel you need some additional level of service stay here it really took my stress away!! Collapse

We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, in a great position for St Peter Port and a fantastic building with great features. What made the stay extra special was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Always attentive but not too much. Their attitude was the best we have come across in all the hotels we have stayed at. The food was exceptional in the restaurant and the Curry Room. We highly recommend OGH which lives up to its 5 star rating. We will return. Collapse
