We had rooms 140 and 141. They were renovated and very nice. Comfortable with a connecting door. The only drawback was the location of the rooms were far from the dining room, and involved 4-5 steps. We could regulate the heat, and the showers were hot, maybe too hot. The hotel is 5 mins from the Shannon airport, and there was fast food within walking distance. There wasn't much option for a full meal other than at the hotel restaurant, and our meal there was very good but pricey. Breakfast was very good. Collapse

Booked this place back in January after all the Xmas madness , and I certainly made the right choice. Was not expecting the place to be so glamorous on arrival but the new owners must of put a lot of money into this place , the decor puts you at ease and adds to your relaxing stay. I can't say enough about the food in this place its very high quality and I'll admit I'm very fussy ( see other reviews) from snacks at the bar to a beautiful evening meal with an excellent choice of wines and then to a really well cooked eggs Benedict with Limerick ham , I nearly are the plate afterwards. The staff are lovely humble people also and it's what you expect when your in that part of the country, couldn't do enormous for us, I'm only sorry I didn't learn the man's name who served my wife a beautiful lemon meringue pie on st Patrick's night even though the kitchen was closed , he also made our breakfast very enjoyable the next morning, very nice guy. Our room was huge plenty big enough for two adults a 10 year old and a 16 year old, it was also impeccably clean, one note I might make is perhaps a bigger bed for the adults I find it hard to fit in a double as I am a larger gentleman, but I'm not going to hold it against this place. Myself and my family left feeling relaxed and happy and we will definitely be back in June Collapse

I just want to say before I mention anything the only reason why I am given 2 stars is because the bar staff and the food where amazing other than that I would not recommend this hotel,I arrived on Friday 9th of march to be greeted by a not very friendly David on the front desk with not even a smile or welcome he looked myself and my partner up and down and said can I help you,I said we had a reservation etc he checked and proceeded to tell me there was no reservation in the system luckily I had my email on hand to confirm my reservation etc,he glanced at it and told me he would have to enter it in manually which was fine etc about 10 minutes later he then asked for a credit card never explained why and just said for safety purposes did not mention or explain that there would be a charge put on the card only my partner checked his balance to see that 50e charge had been applied when he asked why he then explained that it would go back in at some stage,I did not find this man David one bit friendly not even a smile,I think if he is going to be greeting guests at the front desk he should work on his social and communicating skills and maybe try to smile a bit more. I then eventually got to the room which was nice enough but to find no towels had being provided in our room,I then tried to phone down to reception with no luck my partner then went then and told them David then came up to my room and handed me ONE medium sized towel and ONE small towel that would not even wrap around a baby never mind dry your feet.I was highly annoyed at this rate as how we 2 people meant to share one medium sized towel anyway I went down to reception and asked David could I speak with his manager which he just said hmm ok,I must the manager was very helpful said he was very sorry for what had happened etc offered us an upgrade and a drink on the house which I thought was very nice of him as David had not even said sorry for any inconvenience caused at this rate,I am very sorry I did not except the upgrade as when you go away for the weekend you expect a nice relaxing break etc well about 9 on the saturday morning we where then awoken by bob the builder and his squad(builders banging and drilling)hotel is under construction but still did not get a good sleep as the planes alone were loud enough flying over the hotel half the night, the shower flooded the bathroom every time we used it,front part of hotel is very modern and noise but we were was not nice at all it was dark dreary and cold it was like walking in from heaven to hell right at the back of the hotel looking out to like some sort of factory or were the deliveries go,other than the bar staff being friendly and the food being lovely I would not recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends and will probably not ever return to this hotel,I will take my custom else where the man on the front desk David was enough to put me off it does not cost anything to have a smile on your face greeting your guests he made me feel very uncomfortable and out of place and after a long drive from Dublin I would have liked a nice welcoming feel which I did not get thankfully i had no more dealings with him and the lady on the front desk on the saturday and sunday was lovely but I was happy to check out and get home the rooms also look not fully finished radiator not even hung on the wall and the river shannon flooding the bathroom in the shower and also water only lukewarm,I have stayed at a lot of hotels that are rated less and that are 2/3 stars and I had a nicer stay there than I did here really disappointed with my weekend away!!! This hotel offers the most basic accommodations. Sheets and towels are course. Room decor dated, but clean. Food is mediocre at best. Breakfast for 9 Euros was reasonable but service slow and surly. No way to opt out of full breakfast and just get a bagel and coffee. Our rooms were on the second floor in a wing with no elevator. Desk person did carry our bags up, but on the morning, no-one answered desk phone so we had to schlep our very large heavy bags down stairs. Collapse
