The city was very crowded which made it difficult to access some of the attractions, so we would not visit again in July. Collapse

Good Location, Good Beds, Good Food but Could Use Room Upgrades

well located in the edge of Dublin's business district. A bit of stroll to a few of the main attractions, except it is at the heart of visiting Stephen's Green. The restaurant is modern and well equipped with a very good continental breakfast offering. The rooms, while decently done, just wreak of old style decor and could use a little bit of modern colors and pizzazz. All in, a very reasonable price and quality for a good hotel, but a hotel with 2,500 per room spend could transform. Collapse
Not without niggles...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. To begin with the positive: 1. The hotel is ideally situated for the busy shopping centre that is Grafton Street and the sweet little park of St Stephen's Green. 2. Our room (a suite) was spacious with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The negatives were as follows: 1. The staff were not at all clued up. When I arrived I was told our room was number 1620.... with no mention that this was actually on the FOURTH floor!!! How on earth is one meant to guess this?! No offer of help with my luggage. 2. Hot breakfast choice odd to say the least. Were served coffee but no accompanying milk. 3. Asked the hotel receptionist to book us into a particular local restaurant. Were told, "There is no need to book unless you eat about 9pm". Took a taxi to the said restaurant, arriving at 7.30pm, only to be told they were fully booked. 4. Our room would have been vastly improved by the addition of a couple of paintings on the otherwise totally characterless walls, especially as the view from our window was not the greatest! (Ask for a room at the front!). However, despite the niggles, we would probably stay again because of the situation of the hotel and the comfort of the bed.... and maybe there will be different reception staff next time!! Collapse

Great location, however this was more like a 3-star experience with 4-star pricing. My room (as well as my friend's room) looked nothing like the photos on the website. The room was small, old-fashioned and tired. The safe did not work and was not repaired despite my request. The toilet didn't flush well and one morning there was no hot water. My window faced a brick wall. It was clean and staff were fine. Collapse
Too expensive for what it is.

Received an email before the trip saying I could request early check in for 10 Euro, so I requested early check in. Wasn't told until we arrived that it cannot be guaranteed, and had hours to kill before we could check in. Not a huge blunder, and I understand, but still not ideal. Hotel needs major updating...outdated, common areas are not relaxing/pleasant to be in. No blow dryer in hotel room. No wash clothes. Was given a room at street level right above all the smokers...was also super noisy at night. This hotel would be fine if they cut the price in half....then it would have been expected. Collapse
Convenient but needs updating

I spent five nights here last week on a package vacation from American Airlines. I don't know if that was the reason my room faced a concrete wall? I mean literally, I had to lean out of the window to see if the sun was shining. It was very clean, but extremely dark. The bathroom had some mildewed grout and there was no top sheet on the bed. It was very quiet, though, and I slept like a log all five nights. American tourists should know that there is no ice machine. The staff in the bar was very gracious to give me a bucket of ice every night, though. We do love our ice in the States. Also, there is no business center, but the staff was very willing to print out my boarding passes at the end of my stay. Also, the room is set up such that you have to put your room key in a slot to have any power in the room. For a few days I left my second key in there so that the room would be cool when I returned. Then I guess the housekeeper removed it--busted! It just seemed odd to me for a relatively high-end hotel. In all fairness, though, the last two times I was in Dublin I stayed at the Merrion. So take my review with that in mind. Also, I could have asked for a different room, I suppose. The location is terrific, close to everything including Stephen's Green. The staff is very friendly.
