The Davenport is a nice hotel in a good location. Rooms are large. Wifi worked really well. The location is nice. Within walking distance of Trinity College, Marrion Park, St Stephen's Green, Grafton Street, and we even walked back from Temple Bar area. The service was great as well. Breakfast was a traditional Irish breakfast and was good. Bathrooms were outdated which made them quaint but just lacking modern conveniences like a hot and cold water from the same spout. The room had a thermostat, but we could never get it cool enough. Parking was also inconvenient as you had to park in a cramped garage a couple of blocks away. Collapse
Excellent, friendly staff

Was waited on by Aleksander in the hotel lobby area and the service was excellent! Great attention to detail, and just a warm, welcoming atmosphere in general. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Dublin.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The first time was very good and I was looking forward to my stay. The first night was excellent but the second night was every hotel guest's nightmare - a big booming disco pounding up through the hotel as you are trying to sleep. After a night out we arrived back to the hotel just before 1am, I went to the front desk to buy a bottle of water (€1.50 - I know ! but that's the way it rolls here) I noticed the loud music - I asked the night receptionist when the music would end - he said 1am so I was happy enough - I warned him if it did not that I would be a very unhappy guest and he assured me in no uncertain terms that that would not be the case. Once I was in bed about 1.20am I could still hear the music - I rang down to reception and was re-assured once again that "that was the last song" - I tried to sleep but to no avail as it was clearly not 'the last song' - the music went on for another 1/2 hour at least - and to rub salt into my wounds when I 'phoned reception again they would not reply (glad it was not an emergency!) - the guy was clearly too embarrassed to answer the 'phone. Our friends arrived back at the hotel a little later than us (about 1pm) and they witnessed 2 other guests complaining at the desk - one poor lady had a flight back to the States at 5am and was actually crying! The next day I was woken by a pre-set radio alarm at 7.10am !!! I was not a happy bunny! It took me 5 minutes to work out which button to press to stop the damn thing. As you can imagine I didn't make breakfast. I had to use the time to try and catch a few more minutes sleep. This totally ruined my weekend. Unfortunately we had payed a 'Rugby package' company for the hotel as I would not have paid a penny for the room. I do intend to take it up with them regarding a refund. I spoke with the manager Sunday morning and she was very apologetic about the noise. It felt like she was just saying what she thought was right - it was a pointless conversation. She couldn't give me any explanation as to why the night receptionist had not taken my calls and given me false assurances. It appears that there was a ball at the hotel and they had no control over the disco volume or 'last song' timing. What a shame as this hotel is in such a great location and the rooms are comfortable and very clean with good facilities (Except no water in the room!) Please not my rating is for the terrible experience we had on the saturday night - not for the service received at the bar and in the breakfast restaurant - which was excellent. Collapse
Great value for money!

This was my second stay in The Davenport and in all fairness, the first time wasn't so great. Things went wrong with checking in and the room was small too warm and noisy. However, I did enjoy the location, the classic style of the hotel, the bar and the breakfast! The manager at reception apologized and asked me to mention the experience the next time I'd visit. So when coming in this time I did just this and without any questions asked i was upgraded to a large, beautiful room in the back so it was quiet as well, lovely! This in combination with the positive sides I mentioned makes the Davenport a great place to stay. The staff is super friendly and you still get your tea served to your table at breakfast. If you compare the price per night to most other hotels in Dublin this is a steal, I'll be back! Collapse

Nice and comfortable in a great location, this is a clean and serviceable tourist hotel. Not many bells or whistles, but with a helpful and friendly staff, and a nice but limited breakfast buffet - but ordering off the menu instead is an option, which late sleepers should probably do! Our room was always nicely cleaned and all the people in the hotel, from breakfast servers to front desk to maintenance and housekeeping folk, were all delightful and grand. Collapse
