Last Thurs night I stayed one night at Novotel Reading Centre, it was a great experience. The location is excellent, and the room was large and clean, v comfortable for someone like me on a work trip. There was a desk and several sockets. The swimming pool was a great bonus, and the breakfast was extremely generous and tasty. Above all the polite and cheerful receptionists, Gaitano, Tiago and Fernando made things smooth and easy - thank you to all three of them. I hope to return. Collapse

When opening up the pull-out sofa bed, I was shocked to see a large blood stain on the mattress! Absolutely disgusting! I spoke to the sift supervisor and he offered to move me to a different room. I had to repack all my things and carry my own bags to the new room around midnight. NO help was offered to even take my luggage. The next morning, when I tried to speak to the actual manager, the response was "The shift supervisor told me about it. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will do a deep cleaning of the room". ZERO apology! After arriving back that night (yes, I had to stay due to no other available hotels in the area), he had left a tray of chocolates in my room with a card saying "Please accept these chocolates as an apology for the inconvenience you had last night." INCONVENIENCE??? No, that is a MAJOR health violation and risk to your guests - who knows how many others have stayed in that room and sat or worse, slept on that sofa? No, I do not accept your chocolates nor any other food coming from this place. And no, that is NOT how you address something of this gravity. Also, in our new room, the bathroom door doesn't latch close and the a/c doesn't cool the room down. I am definitely never coming back. DO NOT stay at this hotel. Who knows what you will encounter. Fantastic night away with my 2 young children, it's my 2nd visit to this hotel and the staff are welcoming, helpful and always provide fantastic service. The room was perfect for the price range. Great location for central Reading shopping and restaurants. Kids loved the pool. Fantastic breakfast as well. Unbeatable hotel for the cost, location, facilities and service. Collapse

We had a fabulous time at the Hotel. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Nothing seemed too much for them. The rooms were clean and spacious. My only gripe was that the rooms were extremely warm and the aircons didnt work so we had to leave the windows open which was pretty noisy as it was a Friday night. The pool, steam room and sauna added a relaxing hour or two to our trip. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection. The hotel is in a good location with a short walk away from The Oracle with all the shops, restaurants and cinema. Collapse

Stayed for 5 nights. Had room 1215 - Excutive room. Nice, helfull and friendly staff. Room it self was ok,but needed a little tlc and a good cleaning. Size was good, and it had everything i needed for the stay. Bathroom looked ok ,but had some shortcomings ; In the shower it was almost impossible to control the heat of the water. Think the mixing valve or regulator was broken, but after a while i manage to find a position that worked for me, and left it like that for rest of the stay. Sink drained very slow (Got fixed after a few days). The mixer/tap to the bathtub did leak, so more water got on the bathroom floor then in the tub. But as I not a big bathtub fan, i just avoided to use it rest of the stay. The day to day cleaning of the room was ok, but when you take a closer look you see it could be done so much better. The room was a little to noisy for my liking. Even i was on the 12th floor i waked during night from people screaming and singing in the streets. Guess the room also close to the elevator room, so noisy every time the elevator moved up or down. Did also struggle to get the room warm. If you put the aircon/heater on 15c or 30c had nothing to say. Same temp air blown anyway. Had a burger in the restaurant one day, did not enjoy it. Food was ok, but nothing more then that. Good things was the location close to the train station, short way to shopping street and close by to many small restaurants and shops. RailAir bus from reading to Heathrow stops 3min walk away. Breakfast was very good. Overall the staff, location and breakfast makes might stay here again if i have to, but if it was worth the price i',m not sure. Collapse
