My company booked me into this hotel last minute to beat the bad weather, cannot fault the staff at all, they were very friendly and helpful and out clearing the snow from the carpark on the morning. The rooms were OK but in need of a refresh. When I checked in the room had a sofa bed made and laid out. I turned this back into a sofa to make more space, but if I would have had to lie on that it would have been impossible to get comfortable, could feel every bump and spring. The room was clean as in housekeeping clean, but the carpet had loads of stains and the sockets had lost some of their lacquer. The bathrooms were spotless and bedding clean. I forgot to tell management at the time but the door did not lock and I only noticed after I unpacked so I just used the door chain instead... I now cant remember the room number but it was on the 2nd floor. The ‘gym’ had a treadmill, cross trainer and bike which was sufficient but the water dispenser was empty in the room. Overall, the staff and the bathroom cleanliness gained points but the carpets need a deep clean and rooms could be updated slightly. Collapse

Went for lunch today with my Mum and Dad. Good choices on the menu - my parents went for beef, i opted for the Goats Cheese tart - food was piping hot, sufficient for needs and my mum and dad said the beef was lovely. My tart was tasty and filling. Deserts were also lovely. What was a stand out for me - lovely little gift for each of the ladies - some daffodils on the table with a note saying 'take me home and watch me bloom' - what a lovely thought. I also enjoyed the mocktail (the joys of driving). Wonder if they are going to do something for Easter Day? Collapse

Booked in last Friday lunchtime people in front of me offered use of pool and other amenities was told I could not use as paying cash Went up to room which had only just been cleaned to find no towels and a dirty bathroom Went downstairs for food to find the menu was a few bits of paper stapled togetherand cost me £39 for 2 pints and 2 fish finger sandwiches which consisted of dry bread and mouldy salad. Not happy for this is a big chain management need to get sharp on these things Collapse

Me and my partner stayed here whilst travelling from Swindon to North Shields for a DFDS Amsterdam cruise, we weren’t expecting a huge amount as it was very cheap, but after taking 2 buses a train and a plane I’m not sure I would have been bothered. We arrived quite late in the evening around 9pm, we were at first greeted by the man on the desk who was extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful, he checked us in explained the facilities we were entitled to then told us to have a great stay and to let him know if we needed anything, we went to our room to drop off some bags before having some food and were very impressed with our room. Lovely bathroom, comfortable beds and extremely clean, there wasn’t anything about this room I could fault, tea and coffee complimentary too which was a life saver with all the travelling. We popped out to get some food and returned to the hotel to have a drink before going to bed, I ordered a cocktail and my partner a beer, the bartender was friendly and told us to take a seat and he would bring our drinks over to us, also a lovely gesture! Previous to arriving here we had got a taxi from the airport that was very expensive for the distance that we travelled so knowing the 11 mile journey we were making the next day didn’t really want to be hit with a huge taxi bill, we asked at reception and the man was extremely lovely, told us he would sort us out a taxi when we were ready, this was a great service and also a very reasonably priced journey, wouldn’t be able to point out anything I felt was wrong with this hotel, excellent service and great value for money, if we ever end up in Newcastle again this will be my first choice of stay Collapse
