It has to be said that this is one of the best weekends I have had in a chain hotel for some considerable time and I have done quite a few. The reception staff were more than helpful in sorting out a booking problem. First class attention to detail and pricing. This was attending an RAF reunion function and we were a goodly number. The first evening Buffet dinner in the main restaurant was excellent , both in quality and variety. If only other large hotel groups and even the Toby Carvery group could see this, it would change the quality of such buffets across the country. Well done Chef! The staff superb and appropriately attentive. The second evening formal function went without a change in quality or service. Good food delivered hot and with appropriate speed. The particular notes of appreciation went to reception Maria and Waitress in charge Maria both of whom could not be faulted in their customer centric approach. Breakfasts very good and plentiful...I suggest Holiday Inns take a secret shopper trip and see how well this can be done when the chef cares about the food. The pool area was very good, changing rooms clean and everything worked as it should. Which is quite unusual to have, there is something usually not functioning properly Overall it was a splendid weekend without doubt. If I have a complaint it is with the central booking service who were just about as unhelpful and jobsworth as you could possibly imagine. Breath taking incompetence and un-helpfulness when trying to clarify a simple point left a situation un-resolved and me in complete frustration, needing a hair piece. Full marks to the reception who sorted it in less that 20 seconds on arrival !!!!! I would not hesitate to commend this hotel, all the Maria's that work there and would be pleased to return either as an individual or at a large event on this showing of service and quality. Moreover this hotel is not at all expensive in comparison and excels in a quality , customer focussed provision. Collapse

Just returned from the hotel after 2 nights at a family weekend for Cri du Chat syndrome and have to say i was so impressed with the staff and how helpful and understanding they were, they all worked Really hard. Great hotel with lovely facilities.

I originally booked bed and breakfast but later saw a deal incorporating dinner for not much more money so decided to upgrade. I telephoned the hotel and spoke with a fantastic gentleman in reservations who did everything for me, even upgrading our room. On arrival the receptionist Amy was very welcoming and informative. I explained I was treating my husband and she was very discreet regarding room cost so the surprise wasn't spoiled. We were given room 326 which was a delight, spacious, extra massive bed, lovely views of countryside and a corner room with nobody immediately next to us. After around 10 minutes there was a knock at the door and we were presented with fruit and a bottle of wine compliments of the hotel as we were celebrating a special occasion. This was an absolute surprise and was very welcome. Dinner was good, a 3 course affair which was off the main grill menu, the only slight improvement would be if more fish and seafood was offered. Our waiter Mustafa was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We both slept exceptionally well, the bed being very comfortable and the room being very quiet. Now to breakfast, not very impressive at all. Music being played quite loud, which I personally do not appreciate in the morning, tea served in what can only be described as workmen's mugs, no tablecloths, not what I would expect from this standard of establishment. We were told the only eggs available to help ourselves to were scrambled and if fried was required we would have to order it and wait. I did want a fried egg so asked for one, then served myself the rest of my breakfast. The egg took quite a while to arrive meaning my other breakfast items were cold. The hash browns had definitely seen better days, rubbery and cold, the sausages were rather limp, as if they had been sitting for a very long time. My husband commented his tomatoes were just the stalk ends, probably left over from the steaks the night before.The waitress was on her own and seemed rushed, which considering there were only five tables occupied is rather worrying, she was also quite unfriendly. Overall very disappointing and rather a poor end to a fantastic stay. However, when we checked out a lovely lady named Maria was extremely friendly and helpful and we were back in the hotel we checked into. The breakfast service really lets you down as it resembles a greasy spoon rather than a hotel dining experience. Collapse

My wife and I stayed at the Northampton Marriott for 2 nights in January whilst visiting family in London but wishing to break-up our travel to and from the North West of England. We were booked on an excellent tariff which was reasonably priced rooms and free breakfast when booked using Visa. Throughout our stay we were really well looked after; our check-in was friendly, efficient and we were offered services such as taxi collection in the morning, restaurant reservations etc.The service continued to be of a really high standard at breakfast, where my wife requested scrambled egg made without cream due to an intolerance and the kitchen was more than happy to make this fresh. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for any of the staff. The room was fantastic, spacious with an excellent quality bed allowing us to get a good quality sleep. The TV had the usual freeview stations available with PPV services including some reasonably priced offers. Although without the breakfast offer it would be a little bit beyond our usual budget, we would be very keen to return to the Northampton Marriott and hope we get the opportunity to do so in the near future.
