On March 16 my family and I traveled to Orlando for the very first time ever. This was the very first vacation my children and myself had ever been on. I spent months planning trying to cover all my basis in regards to our vacation. On March 16th we checked in to the Holiday Inn Resort. First off i want to start off by saying that I work for a hotel myself in an attraction town here in Pigeon Forge Tn, so I understand how hotels work and what the staff experience on a day to day basis. I take this in to absolute consideration. My fiance also works for a Holiday Inn Express in Pigeon Forge Tn. When we were checked in the ladies at the desk were very professional. The room wasnt cleaned so they told me that would call me as soon as a room became available. It was five minutes later that I got a phone call. Once we got our keys we went up to our room. We were very pleased with the layout of the room and the cleanliness. We were also very pleased that the front desk were able to get us in a room that overlooked the kids pool area. After getting everything up to the room with the help of a very nice bells-man, I began looking around for a do-not-disturb sign. As I said my fiance and I both work in the hotel industry, so I know the housekeepers already have a lot on their plate so I didn't see it necessary for them to come in and clean and tidy our room everyday we were there. Unfortunately I could not find a do not disturb sign anywhere, so i called down to the desk to ask if i wasn't looking in the right place. After coming to the conclusion that there was not a do not disturb sign in our room when then asked if we could come down to get one. The front desk staff told us that they would have a housekeeper bring one up in the morning and put one on our door. Sometime that afternoon we had went back down to the desk because we were going to Universal Studios and we had read they had a free shuttle service. I had called even before we arrived and was told, once I finally was able to get someone to answer the phone, that the hours and operation of the shuttle would be provided to us when we got to the hotel and checked in. When we got down to the desk to ask about the shuttle we were told we had to go over to guest services. So we went down to guest services and there wasn't anyone there. So we got up very bright and early the next morning to get down to guest services to be told the shuttles were all reserved, so we had to drive to universal. We would have made prior reservations for the shuttle if we knew we needed to make reservations. That evening after coming back from Universal we entered our room to find that housekeeping had come in. At first I wasn't upset because I figured the housekeeper wasn't relayed the message about our do not disturb sign. Which was not on our door when we got back. However I became very upset when I noticed that a unopened box of pop-tarts that I had just went to the grocery story and bought for my children for breakfast for one morning was opened. Not only was it opened but a pack was opened and half of the pop tart eaten and the rest was left sitting on the counter. The only trash can which was in the bathroom had been taken out but no new bag was put back in it. And the wet towels from our morning shower had been pilled up and stuck in a bag and left out on the sidewalk in front of our room. Then the towels that were in the master room had been pilled up and the set them on top of the ps4 my fiance brought to watch movies at night, and forgotten about. Leaving wet towels sitting on the ps4 all day. I immediately called down to the desk and told them what was going on. The told me they would EMAIL housekeeping and I should hear from the head housekeeper the next day. I asked if I could come down to get a do not disturb sign so I could be assured no one would come into my room the next day and some garbage bags since the housekeeper didn't leave any. The front desk told me they would bring some up. Two hours later went by and still no one brought up the do not disturb sign or the trash bags. So my fiance went down and got them and asked to speak to a manager. The manager was nice enough to give us a free dining card for breakfast in the morning. For the rest of our time there housekeeping never did come back into the room. Two days later when we came back in for the evening there was a message light on the phone. I called to listen to the message and it was housekeeping apologizing for not being able to clean our room because of the do not disturb sign. They stated we could ask for supplies if we needed them. There was no mention about the incident that happened. Upon checking out my fiance was told by the front desk staff that the head housekeeper wanted to speak with him. He turned down waiting on the head housekeeper to come down and speak with him because they had offered breakfast to make up for the issue and we were in a rush to get on the road to head back to Tennessee which were expecting very bad storms that evening. Overall we loved the outline of the room. We only went down and swam in the pool once, and the kids had a blast. The water was warm and to our surprise was a salt water pool and not chlorine. They had little events for the kids we noticed on some nights. For example Saturday when we arrived back from Sea World they were playing Trolls on a big blow up flat screen tv over the pool so the kids could swim and watch a movie. And Sunday morning they were taking donations, and with the donation, you could pie yourself or parent in the face, and the proceeds went to sick children to have a vacation. The property was beautiful as well. And breakfast, the morning we did go down, was spectacular!!! Overall we had a very nice trip. With a few minor set backs. Collapse

I don't get all the reviews I read on this place. we had a great time. We as a family of 6 stayed 7 nights in the 2 bedroom suite and no issues beside a bad bulb in the bathroom. We brought our own towels so that wasn't a issue. The pool area was great and the staff stays in top of things to make sure you are safe. The water was cold on the slides for the kids but they loved it no less. it is really close to Disney parks if you are going there. we didn't eat on site or try and other amenities besides the water park. The big issues were the front desk would not answer the phone it rang for 10 minutes before I hung up. Also a major safety issue is the phone in the elevator for emergencies rang from 10 pm at night until late the the next morning at 10 am at least until late we left and same thing happened another day. That is a major safety issues if you needed help and they never answered. Collapse

It was clean, safe and very comfortable. The pool was heated and we loved the movie at the pool. Great for families with kids 13 and under. We would love to be back. Arrived in March 2017 with my family. We had 2 rooms that my mom booked. They were both supposed to be bunk bed suites and be adjoining. My mom and brother arrived at 4:00 and had to wait an hour to get their keys. They were told their room was ready but my family's wasn't. They requested a crib for my family's room. Their room was filthy: a lollipop was melted to the side table, receipts and trash everywhere else. When my family arrived at 8PM, we also made sure we would be given a crib for our toddler. Our rooms were down the building from each other and ours was a king suite instead of bunks. Luckily our 8 year old stayed with my mom so she had somewhere to sleep! No crib in the room and after over 45 minutes of calling the front desk and no one answering, we were told one was on our way. It finally arrived at 10:30 PM! Our bathroom door did not shut, it was like they had installed too wide of a vanity because it stopped the door mid way. There were boot prints all over the back of it like someone had tried to kick it in. The rooms looked like they had been flipped on a TV show - nice from far away but up close the paint doesn't cover the blue and orange paint from when it was Nickelodeon hotel. It just felt very cheap. Breakfast was pricey but it was okay. The pool area seemed well kept and the lifeguards were attentive. Next time we vacation in Orlando I will be staying at Disney for sure. Rooms are fabulous, resort is wonderful. My kids loved the laser maze, 4D theater and water park. Walls are very thin, you can hear everything next door, but the rooms are well designed and very cool. Beds are very comfy. Here's the problem: I called the first day to let them know I had ants in my kitchen. I was told someone would come while we were out and take care of it. Came back to ants. I called again and was told someone would come take care of it the next day. Came home to ants. I went down to the front desk and told them that I had called down twice about ants and that no one had done anything about it. Was told by the front desk that they would definitely send someone. No one came. I ended up checking out a day early even though my entire stay was prepaid on a air/hotel package. I have since sent 2 emails to the management team at this hotel and have heard absolutely nothing back. As a frequent traveler who stays at many hotels I don't know if I have ever been let down in so many levels by a hotel and the management team. Very disappointed overall. I hate to leave negative reviews and would have much rather sorted this out with someone from the management team, but being completely ignored by the guest services people on the phone, the front desk staff and finally by management has left me feeling very let down.
