Stayed at this hotel on Saturday 16/12/2017 for the work Christmas party having booked a double room months prior. Booked in at reception which was pre-booked got to the room expecting a double room it was a twin room and the wife and I have never ever had a twin room in 13 years of marriage phoned up guest response to get the room changed and they told me they didn’t have any other rooms and that they just allocate the rooms either twins or doubles on block bookings, if we had been informed that we had a twin room i wouldn’t have stayed the night. I spoke to reception downstairs and git a similar response from them. I asked them to inform the manager however no one spoke to me after that about my complaint. The Christmas dinner was absolutely terrible and there wasn’t enough of it, in the morning went down for breakfast got seated on the table and we were not provided with ant tea or coffee. I got my breakfast from the buffet which was luke warm and had to speak to the maitre d’ to get tea and coffee brought to the table. I would not recommend this hotel at all, the staff seem disinterested with changing my room room / dealing with my complaint and wouldn’t even put the beds together and remake them. So absolutely disgusted and will never stay at this hotel again I will be pursuing them for the full refund of my stay. Collapse

Stayed here 7th Dec for 1 night. My husband was actually going to his xmas party over at the racecourse & as a taxi was going to be so expensive & it was only £10 more to stay in an executive room here he decided to book it & we decided as it was my birthday the following day then i could come along & have my myself a little pamper by using the spa. Better than giving all that money 2 a car ride home! Check in was swift but when i mentioned where did we get the starbucks coffee from as i knew we got complimentary coffee from somewhere in reception in a am exec room he just said there was tea/coffee in room. The room was large with a huge bed, clean & tidy & a massive tv too. It was a little dated but still comfortable. Toiletries were provided too. The tea/coffee was just normal so later i asked again & was shown to a room along from reception where you had to use your room card to access. i went to use it & card wouldn't work! So i went up to my room & couldnt get back in so had to come back down. The lady on reception apologised & did something with card & when i went to the coffee room it worked & also managed to get in to my room. My husband met me after work & he was also impressed with the room. He went off to his xmas party & i headed to the spa at 6.15pm. It was fairly quiet i even got a lounger to relax. The changing rooms are new & really modern & clean. I didnt use the pool but it looked nice. I did use the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room & plunge pool which were all fab. I also went back the following morning on my birthday & again it was quiet. I didnt eat here but the offer they had on for a 3 course meal for £20 i thought was excellent given that it was £15 for a burger plus £4 tray charge for room service! The only niggle was when my husband returned around 1.30am & obviously i was asleep, his room card wouldnt work again so had to wake me up to let him in! We mentioned again on check out & just got a sorry we'll check the lock. Bit inconvenient happening twice. We were on room only so cant comment on breakfast. All in all we enjoyed our stay & 1st visit to a Mariott hotel & a lovely way for a pre birthday pamper. We went on The Vermont from here & this was a great start. Collapse

I stay at this hotel on a regular basis as it is convenient for work. The beds are really comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel needs a considerable makeover so puts a number of people off staying here which is a shame. Plus the road is quite noisy as it's on a busy junction. On the plus side it has gym facilities which are quite good for a hotel of this size as well as a pool. What stands out for me are the staff from the restaurant to the bar, room service and front desk. Plus they have a taxi lady on duty in the morning to organise speedy taxis. So I will continue to stay here frequently for as long as they continue to provide me with superior considerate service, but Marriott you really need an upgrade program ! Collapse
