The hotel is very thinly staffed. Be prepared for long check in queues and be ready to wait 10-15 minutes on the phone to reach a customer service person / front desk. Super-expensive breakfast buffet ($47 per person - beat that !). Rooms are decent and the location is good. Most of the staff come across as impolite - maybe because of the work pressure, maybe by their very nature. You have to ask for everything - your breakfast coupons, water bottles at check in, etc. Some staff were helpful though. Collapse
One of the best mid-priced large hotels in Midtown

This place compares favorably with the Sheraton. The rooms are smaller and not quite as nice as the Marriott, but it's a better location than the heart of Times Square. The front desk is well-run and food is pretty good.

My 2 tween sons and I visited in February and were pleased with our stay. The front desk and concierge were very helpful and the staff in executive lounge were exceptional. I had two issues while there which are worth mentioning. 1) it was unseasonably warm in NYC and our room got hot. The thermostat was set to a comfortable temp but we could not get the room to go below 73-74. I tried to call guest services but got bo answer so we just dealt with it but it had an impact our our ability to sleep and I'd be concerned about staying there in the summer. 2) the hotel's stated conservation policy is that if you hang up your towel they will conserve water by not replacing. Ours were replaced every day of our 3 night stay even though always hung up...not only that, we requested a 4th towel on the first morning and when those towels were cycled out, we were once again down to 3 towels which was annoying. As a conservation minded family, it is frustrating when the hotel has a conservation policy stated but doesn't bother to follow it. Collapse

The title says it all. I can't remember when it became default for hotel rooms to have a coffee maker, but we have become so used to it. I couldn't believe that we didn't have one in our room, which costed $209 plus tax (and that was with a conference discount). We had no choice but to go get coffee at the coffee shop downstairs, which was such a hassle, and needless to say, the coffee was expensive (about $5). In addition, our room was poorly maintained. One of the floor lamps had a loose plug that kept getting unplugged, and the lamp for one of the beds did not work. My colleague told me that she didn' have hot water in her room. My professional organization has an annual conference here every other year, but next time they do, I will be staying at the Sheraton, which is right down the street. When I was checking out, there was a long line at the counter even though it was before 8 am on Sunday. One of the staff came by and told me that she'd mail me my receipt by the end of the day. It's Monday afternoon, and I still have not received my receipt. Collapse

Our second year staying here during Thanksgiving week for the Macy's thanksgiving Parade. Right on parade route. Also, perfect location for sightseeing and visiting the city. A block away from Radio City Music Hall, blocks away from Central Park, Fifth Ave shopping, Times Square, and many other attractions. Close enough to the lights and action in Times Square but far enough to be relaxing and quiet. Hotel has very amenity you would want and if not it is surrounded with great delis, restaurants, and shops to satisfy every need. The famous food carts on 53rd street are right outside the hotel doors. Famous Lyndy's cheesecake a block away. Hotel staff and security 24/7. Just one block from subway. If in the city for more than 3-4 days, buy a subway 7 day pass for $31 and hop on any subway or bus during your stay to rest from all the walking and sightseeing. They usually offer excellent rates when compared to other hotels in NYC. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Elevators are separated into different floors so they are dedicated to a set of floors minimizing the wait for one. While staying there we took advantage of a vacation club preview that provided several benefits including a visa card for spending cash and some point perks. Be careful, they are very "assertive" in their presentation tactics particularly at the end if you decide to think about it or not buy into it. You can sign up for this in the lobby if interested. For families and kids the lobby has a big screen that takes selfies that you can edit and send out directly from that screen. A fun souvenir from your stay. Would stay again and recommend to all family and business alike. Don't miss walking to Columbus circle and visit the shops there. Also, downstairs there is a Whole Foods Market where you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner to minimize expenses or when traveling with picky eaters who all want different things with a variety of food stations that have from sandwiches and pizza to soups, entrees, and an incredible dessert selection. You could also buy snacks and things to take and have in your room as NYC is extremely expensive. If going during December though March do to miss the outdoor market at Columbus Circle (corner of Central Park) for excellent shopping and food. It is very pretty and quaint at night. If you like Italian fare, don't miss visiting Eataly in the Flatiron District. Great shopping inside a large warehouse-like space with eateries and shopping highlighting authentic Italian food, spirits, and shopping. A nice addition if you also visit Little Italy while in NYC.
