Found this hotel on a booking site, which had breakfast included, at a reasonable price, which is rare for Paris. The lobby and breakfast area are typical of a Paris hotel - just the essentials. Check in was smooth and quick, and the room was VERY clean, with a wonderful airconditioner and fridge to add - both very needed during our trip. Less than 5 mins walk from Liege metro, which is also convenient. Recommendable when visiting Paris for 3 or so days. Breakfast was basic, also repetitive, but sufficient. Hotel also has a luggage storage facility. Great value for money overall. Collapse

We obtained rooms here at short notice when our other accommodation proved inadequate. The concierge on duty spoke good English and willingly accommodated our groups' wishes for different types of rooms. My husband and I had a large room with a veranda that faced out over the Rue de Liege, and we sat out here several times, enjoying our morning coffee and watching the world go by. Our bathroom was clean and spacious, although another member of our group reported mould in her shower! Our room was on two levels, with the sleeping and bathroom level being about four inches higher than the lounge level. Unfortunately, this resulted in tripping over the raised edge and we experienced several nasty falls. Our breakfasts were typically continental - bread rolls, croissants, pastries, muesli, fruit juice and surprisingly good coffee. The meals were marred by inattention to the jam jars (they were frequently put out with almost no jam left in them) and by the grumpiness of one of the hostesses. Collapse

I've stayed in the New Opera Hotel during my last work trip to Paris and overall would recommend it with some reservations though because of the noise. I was staying in one of the rooms on the first floor, right above the breakfast area and what I assume was the kitchen, so from very early in the morning there was a constant noise of plates banging, chairs being dragged, doors banging, etc. Sound proofing in the rooms didn't seem to exist because I could hear the conversations in the room next door. However, as the room was turned to the little courtyard in the back, I couldn't hear any street noise. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good enough, the room was fine for 1 person but it would probably be very tight for 2 people although it had everything necessary, the location was good. I wouldn't mind staying there again in the future but next time will be well prepared with earplugs. Collapse
Quite noisy, dated, very slow Wifi

Stayed three nights - chose this hotel because the hotel website states that rooms are sound-proofed. That’s not at all the case - walls are paper-thin and one can hear it all: conversations in the hallways and adjacent rooms, the water running, the elevator beeping loudly at every stop, noise from the street if one's room is facing the street. The building is quite old with very narrow hallways. The room was very small, dimly lit and dated. No luggage rack or in-room safe. Few and inconveniently located power jacks (none available near the desk, unless one unplugged the lamp). Reasonably comfortable bed and pillows. The black-out curtains didn’t close properly and had sizable gaps between them. The bathroom was quite dated with minimal shelf space and no place to hang anything, not even the towels (there was only one tiny towel bar). Bathtub with high sides and a half-shower door – impossible to shower without getting the floor wet. Good water pressure. Cleanliness left some to be desired: I found an old pair of slippers under the bed and hair in the bathroom and on the carpet. Mediocre breakfast with very limited selection – no fresh fruit, cheese or healthy items; cereal was provided but was extremely sugary. On the day of departure the key stopped working way before check-out time – quite inconvenient when one is in a hurry. And no, it had not been sitting next to any credit cards: it worked the night before and it sat on the desk all night. The staff needs an attitude adjustment, starting from housekeeping, who leaves their supplies lying across the narrow hallways, blocking the way. The front desk staff is also unfriendly: when I asked to change rooms due to noise from the street (I had specifically asked for a quiet room at the time of reservation), the front desk clerk spoke with a man (the manager?) who made some angry comments in French, probably thinking that I didn’t understand. Wifi was extremely slow, to the point that certain pages didn’t load at all. The location is very good, near the St. Lazare train station and very close to the subway. Lots of shops and restaurant nearby. I would not stay there again. Not up to par for a 3-star hotel and the price charged. Collapse
