3 of us stayed in a junior suite for 4 nights in early June 2017, as tourists. Location was the main reason for this selection, and it was conveniently close to the Arc De Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. We were also attracted by the history of the hotel. Staff were all relatively friendly, spoke good English and provided an adequate service; Carlos the concierge was particularly helpful. Lobby is attractive/charming, with a particularly beautiful flower arrangement of hydrangeas on the first day [which was downgraded the next day and disappointingly never as glorious again]. The lobby was relatively quiet for most of our our stay, so perhaps there were not so many guests although it was already June. We were given our room upon our arrival at the hotel at about 11am, which was good. A narrow corridor led to the room itself which was of average size [it is Paris and not the Asia we are used to] and a bit tired looking; it’s the kind of place where you console yourself by saying “we won’t be in the room much, so its ok.” The English chanels on the TV did not work after the first day, apparently a problem with the sattelite/service provider. Thank goodness for the internet, but having to pay extra for wifi in the room was an irritant …does that still really happen, especially in 5-star hotels?? Main annoyance was the toilet being separate from the bathroom in a tiny cubicle, with no basin, so you have to come out to the bathroom to wash your hands. Doing away with the bathub and having the toilet in the bathroom would be a better option surely? And this arrangement should be higlighted to guests at the time of booking/room assignment? Also, strangely, there’s a speaker in the bathroom connected to the bedroom TV and no apparent way of turning it off. The 90s style hairdryer bolted to the wall with a button you have to hold down and a curly wire that’s not long enough gives you a good workout drying long hair! Request for a “regular” hairdryer was politely and promptly attended to, though. We had one meal at the hotel, dinner on our fist night. It was a decent meal [soup of the day, foie gras with toast, caesar salad, grilled fish] and we enjoyed it. There was only 1 other table with several people and 2 young children running around the dining room playing, shouting, etc. which nobody [parents, staff] did anything about. In conclusion, mediocre at best, especially when considering it’s supposedly a 5-star hotel – staff are good, but facilities and accomodations average. Collapse

We love this quaint Parisian hotel which is a short walk to Arc de Trompe and a street away Champs de Elysse. Our room was beautiful, bathrooms lovely and great toiletries. We stayed in a suite which accommodated family of four. Quaint cafes, sandwich shops nearby. Close to station so you can take subway to the Louvre which is about 10 minute ride to this area. Can't wait to be back to this gem! Collapse

Pluses- ---Check-in was fast and extremely professional. ---Pietro, the Guest Services Manager, is nothing less than incredible! He has a mastery for communicating with clients. First and foremost, he is exceptionally professional. Also, during a recent shooting a few blocks away, he wrote me perfectly worded e-mails calming my concerns. I am truly in awe of his mastery of words and communication skills. ---The hotel has a great location! It is literally steps away from the Arch de Triumph (be sure to visit the top at sunset - they have an elevator but you need to ask to use it). The Champs Elysees is only a few minute walk away. Also, the metro to the airport (a direct line) is literally just feet from the hotel door. ---The architecture details of the room were outstanding (such as the crown moldings). ---The bathroom amenities, especially the lemongrass soap and lemon lotion, were outstanding! I understand they have bubble bath available upon request. ---The front desk staff (Romeo?) remembered my name even days after checking in. How can he be so good at remembering names like that? ---Even the room service guy was outstanding - he spoke four languages! ---"The devil is in the details" and this hotel and staff are nothing less than excellent in the details of everything. ---The quality of the mattress was incredible (and isn't that a central requirement of a good hotel room). It was even an American sized king size bed (I've learned that European king beds are sometimes smaller than American king beds). ---I had to print a couple sheets (train tickets) and the front desk handled it quickly and effortlessly. Usually getting something printed at a hotel is a time consuming mess. Minuses- ---There is a modest fee for the Wi-Fi in the room (free if you join their frequent guest program?), or free in the lobby. ---We had a hard time learning how to use the towel warmer in the bathroom. We ended up just pressing the “boost” button which quickly turned it on. Collapse

Beautiful room with oil painting. Nice and quiet. Very comfortable bath tub. Bathrobes were a comforting touch. Only minor problem- heated towel rack did not work for 4 days we were there, despite repeated calls to the front desk.
