I took my husband to HB's on the Gulf for his special 79th Birthday. I had called for reservations and told them it was his Birthday. He is semi handicapped and as soon as we arrived it was evident he needed a wheel chair. They brought one and I wheeled him in, there was no one that offered assistance. The restaurant is outside the hotel/lobby premises and it was a long ways out. There are no automatic doors that open. Between my husband we had to push the doors open, he pushed one side with his cane. Once we found the restaurant, again. No one offered to help him to the table. When we finished lunch. Once again, we had to clear chairs to help him out of the restaurant and then to our long haul out to the front of the hotel lobby and to our car. I stopped by the front desk to politely point out to one of the check-in staff that our experience very disappointing. I told them that there are many people that are looking to capitalize on businesses that do not offer proper handicap accessibility. Therefore, take it as constructive criticism and don't wait for lawsuits waiting to happen. FOOD WAS EXPENSIVE FOR ITS QUALITY. I WOULD NOT GO BACK. Collapse

Having stayed in Naples on numerous occasions at different hotels, this was our first visit to the Naples Beach Hotel. We just loved the location right on the beach in this lovely part of Naples which borders the old traditional part of the city. There was always a family feel to the hotel which you do not get with large chain hotels. All of the staff had this family attitude towards you and a special thanks goes to James at the front desk for helping our family out with our special requests which meant so much! Collapse

Relaxing, pleasant, warm, sunny weekend: lounging on the beach all day, late afternoon golf, and dinners around town. Stayed in The Penthouse, first floor (Rooms 107, 108.) Literally steps out of sliding doors and from our porch to the beach. Get to the beach no later than 8 a.m. to reserve your lounge chairs on a busy holiday weekend. Delicious cocktails just steps away at the poolside bar/grill. Had a fresh, light salad each day with salmon that was grilled and seasoned to perfection. Indulged one evening, stayed late on the beach to see the sunset, with more (strong!) cocktails, decadent chicken wings, burgers, etc. So easy, so low-key. The crowd here is much more relaxed than at other high-end resorts in Florida--not at all ostentatious or pretentious. The whole tone of this place is more old-school, low key, the way things used to be...but definitely not dated. We did not dine in the high-end restaurant. We did enjoy several lunches at the pool bar and one dinner at the beach bar (same menus.) Otherwise, we went out on the town for dinner and Easter Brunch. The surrounding neighborhood is gorgeous. The houses are spectacular, many are enormous and very showy. The crowd in Naples is very affluent and prices reflect that in many restaurants. There is great walking on the beach and in the surrounding neighborhoods. We did not shop in Naples, just dined. Enjoyed golf at the resort course. As a beginner, I felt welcome to play in the afternoons, and my husband, an experienced golfer, enjoyed the course. Would go again, except for the fact that I hate to go to the same place twice! :) Collapse

I have stayed in a lot of hotels from 5Star to 0 Star around the world and this is the hardest ever to review. LOCATION - 10 points Right on the beach on Gulf Shore Drive it's 90 seconds from any room to the beach. ROOM - we chose the cheapest option (which is still a lot of money) and got a room with semi secluded terrace in the patio building, which was lucky, there are others that are very exposed with zero privacy. The room itself was compact but more than adequate, with all that one needs. Tip for other travelers, leave the air on on when out of the room, it gets musty very quickly, and ALWAYS have the fan in the bathroom on. CLIENTELE: a very mixed bag of predominately New Englanders fleeing the last throes of Winter. Not altogether stylish, and somewhat lacking in manners (loud, brash) though some very nice people thrown in. ( the 'I may have money but I'm still a slob' T-Shirt comes to mind). STAFF :- apart from front desk we found everyone very friendly, accommodating, helpful and courteous. Extra requests were treated as a 'no problem'. FITNESS Center: is far too small for a property of this size, there are two rooms each smaller than my family room with (good) equipment, but in particular the room with weights isn't suitable for more than two people at a time. We were very disappointed. Not good enough. POOL(s) there's an adult area and a kids pool. The same here, despite beach the adult pool area is totally inadequate for the size of the property and it was difficult to get a space at the weekend. There were a few times over 5 days where there couples getting very close to each other (maybe that was the booze?) but annoying when you want to swim. If you are a swimmer forget it, it's only about 1.5 times the size of a regular home family pool. You are expected to wear a tight rubber band on your wrist to prove you are a guest. BEACH: is clean and there's plenty of space. A sunbed cost around $12.50 per day..even if you show up at 3pm, to be able to place it under a sunshade/ beach shade costs another $18. That's a lot of dosh after you've paid for your room. OVERALL : like everywhere else this is a business, but you get nickel and dimed for everything. WiFi is $9.95 per day - as cell phone reception is limited in the area they have you by the short ones. Would we go back ? Maybe. The location is great but for the amount spent in a week we could've flown Business class to Barcelona, of course not with United. Collapse
