This hotel was exactly what I was looking for because it still had an authentic old Naples feel. The beachfront rooms are perfect if you want a low key nicely appointed but not over the top room. I loved staying in the penthouse building just a little bit separated from main building as sitting on the balcony was very private ocean front and one flight of stairs and you are on the beach and a few hundred feet walk on the beach to bar pool and restaurant. No high rises competing with the serenity of the beach and this hotel is nicely set apart from any other structures on the beach. The restaurant has a nice menu with some dishes better than others but overall good enough to not leave if you don't feel like leaving the beach as it is on the ocean, inside and out, and has a very mellow seaside vibe. The rooms are clean and understated but charming. The ceilings are low but it is part of the charm of not being a massive chain and true to its roots. The pools are modest but the poolside drinks and menu is good and it is right on the beach so it doesn't feel like a compromise if you like atmosphere over bells and whistles. One quickly understands why all of the locals have come here for years on Sunday nights to drink cocktails by sunset and dance to live music and will find a very eccelctic mix of young and old at varying levels of inebriation dancing out in the open air. If nothing else it is great people watching. The bartender Tania was fantastic. I would go before this last standing family owned business is torn down and turned into a JW Marriot that looks and feels like everything else. In short, I'll be back if it's still here as it is supposedly for sale by owner. Collapse
Naples Beach Hotel

The resort is solid, but the rooms are small and the drinks are too expensive. Else had no complaints. Gorgeous beach and the pools were good too. I did not check out their workout facility but was told that it was lacking.

What a great getaway hotel for 2 friends, we left our husbands and jobs back home and took a 4 day getaway to relax with perfect weather at the Naples Beach Hotel. This Watkins family hotel is a very special place. This Resort is Location, location , location - right on gorgeous Naples beach. , very nice room in Main bldg. next time we would want the Penthouse, Hotel has all the amenities you would ever need. Very wonderful staff, especially the guys who park your car every day- it's complimentary ! Restaurant is top quality, food excellent whether you are at the beach bar or HBs. Open air oceanfront Bar is fun , full of energy most nights. I like that the hotel is Not a franchise hotel, yes it's a bit quirky, that's what I Love about it. It's a mixed group: vacationers like us, wedding guests, business meeting types. Fun to watch the wedding parties do their thing oceanfront ! Expect to have fees for beach chairs and umbrellas etc, but most places do. We just used pool lounges and sat close to beach view and it was fine. Collapse

We spent 3 nights in one of the city view rooms at The Penthouse building of Naples Beach Resort on the 3 Rd floor. The first room we checked into had a ticking sound form the sound and calling the reception and changing the room was a very easy process. Later at night we realized this room had a noise coming from the fans as well not as annoying as the first one but still a noise. By then we did not want to move again. Both rooms are nicely decorated with blue and green tones but the natural light lacks. The rooms had balcony, but we did not use it as it was overlooking the parking lot. It is an interesting marketing spin 'city view' when in fact is ' parking lot view'. Being on the beach made up for other short comings as well but for future stays in Naples will try other beach hotels. A few positives, staff was friendly and we were not charged a resort fee ( which can vary in other hotels from $15-47 /day ). When returning from dinner the room would be groomed and we would find mint chocolates on the pillows. The rooms had two vanities, which we found convenient when getting ready for going out at dinner time but the showers were pretty narrow. For a man at 6'' was pretty tight. The TV in the rooms were fairly small for the distance (TV - bed) and some of the channels did not have a clear image. Self parking or valet parking was complimentary. In our case, staying at The Penthouse building, it only made sense to self park. The Penthouse is ways 400-500m from the main ( check -in) building and the parking is right in front of the building. We also liked the security measures. Access to parking and the pool area was based on room key. The bar had a happy hour menu and live entertainment for most days we were there. The main restaurant does not offer a happy hour. Chairs in the pool area are complementary but chairs and umbrellas on the beach are charged for.$13 / chair and $18 / umbrella. We found that for the prices charged the grounds should have been more luxurious. The pool area and the bar area felt pretty basic. Collapse
