The hotel is not suitable for a family stay. The pool is off limits for children. We found the rooms to be outdated and the shower was alternating hot and cold water the whole time while in use. Also, the wifi was down in the whole hotel for the 2 days we were there. Due to a wedding, the parking lot was full of cars and we had to circle around for 30 mins before finding a spot. The manager nicely refunded us part of our room charge, but we will not be returning. Collapse

We traveled to Ireland for our first time, to get married at Killarney National Park. We arrived at Muckross Park Hotel and were immediately greeted by the staff. They made sure my bride had everything she needed for our special day, even offering to steam her dress. At the time, we were issue-free so we went up to our room and got settled in. We brought our own steamer from the states but unfortunately it blew the fuses in the sockets and ruined our steamer. The staff immediately sent Rafael to our room to fix the issue. He even offered to try and fix the steamer. Anyways, our big day came and the staff were doing everything from organizing a proper staff send-off at the entrance and arranged for the horse carriage to take us to Torc Waterfall to get married. We were running slightly late and we left to get married in such a hurry we forgot a lot of our things in the room. Not a problem at al. The staff gave us a later checkout time to accommodate us. Seriously, we could not have asked for a better place to stay. The hotel and spa are amazing. But the staff is what makes Muckross Park Hotel so special. They truly are amazing and they don't hesitate for one second to go above and beyond for their guests. We highly recommend you stay there if you're in Killarney. You will not regret it. Thanks again Muckross Park Hotel for making our day so much more special! We'll be back for sure! And we'd like to give special thanks to Shane and Danny for their exceptional service. Cheers! My wife and I tried to stay within a healthy budget while in Ireland, but we decided to splurge on this hotel and pamper ourselves a bit. We're glad we did. The location of the hotel is fantastic, as it's minutes from the Killarney National Forest and the Muckross House (a must-see if travelling here for the first time). The service was excellent, and when they found out we were on our honeymoon, they brought up a free bottle of wine! The room was spacious and the bed was pretty comfortable. The indoor pool downstairs is gorgeous. It was very relaxing. We spent the most time here during our trip in Ireland, and it was worth it. We even managed to get a free dinner with our booking, and that dinner was without a doubt one of the best meals we've ever had. We still talk about it! The pub attached to the hotel is also good if you want to change things up a bit and eat somewhere different without having to go far. The breakfast each morning was delicious, offering just about everything you could want. We'd stay here again, no question! We visited in early October 2015. Collapse

We stayed for 4 nights in a superior room and had a great stay. The hotel has a boutique feel about it. The spa is beautiful although we did not use it. The attached pub is a MUST. We were there 4 times in 4 days. The breakfast is wonderful with so many options in a lovely dining room. The staff is great. They were so warm and helpful as we were jet lagged and confused from a 2 hour drive on the wrong side of the road. They helped with suggestions for tours and activities and cheerfully arranged them. The location is directly across from the Killarney National Park and only a short walk to the Muckross House. It is just a short drive ( or cab ride) into town. Parking in town was pretty easy. This was a fun stay in a great place! Collapse

We stayed here as a couple for 2 nights in September 2016. What sets this hotel out is the staff - we met a lot of very friendly and outgoing staff. We were greeted by reception upon check in by two very friendly gentlemen who made it their business to make sure we were looked after. All staff we met then on the subsequent three days were top class and it really was a pleasure to stay in the hotel. The spa is out of this world. My therapist on the day was just superb. She made me feel very comfortable and it was genuinely a gorgeous experience. The thermal suite and hydrotherapy pool are also fabulous and you could genuinely spend hours unwinding in the spa. It was never overly busy and was truly a remarkable experience. The only thing I could mark this hotel down is on the rooms - They are opulent upon walking in, no doubt. We were greeted by a four poster bed and long draping curtains. However, when you start to look you can see dust and cobwebs on the walls and curtain rails. House keeping did change our towels and make our beds but I didn't feel it was completed to the standard you would expect from a five star hotel. We had to request toilet paper (none was provided on the second day) and the bed, although made, looked like the duvet had just been tucked in. These are small gripes as overall the experience was gorgeous but it's the attention to detail that sets 5 star hotels apart. Not the hotels fault - but unfortunately on the second night we stayed we had a family beside us with a screaming child. They kept bringing the child out into the hallway which extenuated the issue as the noise got worse. I am naturally a very patient person and was understanding of the issue, however, it soon became clear that the child wasn't sick and parent's weren't giving in. This went on for 2 hours. Also on that night there was a storm. Not the hotels fault, but as we were a corner room the old style windows took a beating. And they rattled the room. Little to no sleep was got that night and as you pay for luxury and to destress I found myself very tired leaving the next day. The food we had in the hotel was gorgeous. We ate each night in the hotel and had breakfast on both mornings. Breakfast was gorgeous. The only gripe I had was on the second night there was a private function in Jarvey's rest which meant the regular punters were moved inside to another part of the hotel. Service was slow because staff were under pressure. I think another staff or two should have been on duty to cater for this. Overall I really enjoyed my stay in Muckross. Killarney is one of my favourite towns in Ireland and I have always wanted to stay in Muckross Park - It has been on my bucket list for a long time. However, in terms of value for money there is better 5 star hotels out there in terms of quality rooms for your bucks. However the staff are exceptional and it really is what would entice me back to the hotel again. Collapse
