This hotel wins for location. Around the corner from Russell st station. Walking distance to westend. We saw Mama Mia fabulous. The room was a good size, always immaculate with a lovely modern bathroom with fluffy white towels. The park across the road was also beautiful. The staff where always friendly especially the breakfast staff. There is no cooked breakfast but they do, do boiled eggs to your liking. There is ample fruit salad fresh fruit pastries, yogurt cheeses and meats.Plus breads jams ect. I like that my tea came in a teapot. We had a wonderful afternoon tea also as part of the Luxury escapes package, sandwiches, scones cakes and fruit very nice.A bus that goes to many destinations is around the corner. You can buy a oyster card for travel at the train station. We used the London card with travel included well worth it, although if staying 7 days again would buy the 7 day tourist card. It does sound a lot but you will definitely use it. This hotel has free WIFI so i googled our travel by bus or train on my phone then screen shot each stage. Therefore you didnt need internet access and it was as simple as opening your photos on your phone.London underground was the best public transport in our 7 weeks of travel. Collapse

We arrived late Easter Saturday afternoon after a 3 hour flight from Budapest. Down in to the basement to check-in, which seems odd but works fine. My wife was soon put off this place due to one staff member. English was clearly a second language so communication was difficult, made worse by the fact that the guy mumbled. We were given Room 55 on the top floor. The room was fairly spacious but at the back of the property. So the outlook was of walls and rooftops. Not great but meant the room was quiet. The shower area was huge. The double bed was OK. Now it is very common to have a double bed made up of two singles but this is the first time that I have been able to feel it so clearly. The following morning, after breakfast, my wife asked what bus to catch to get to a certain place. She was given the wrong route number which again upset her as it resulted in time wasted and lots of walking. If it was not for these three points this establishment would have got five stars as every thing else was great. Breakfast is great with fruit salad of freshly cut fruit, strawberries, ceral, toast, cold meats, pastries, crumpets and dropscones. We had afternoon tea twice and it was very good. As Aussies, we were worried that the hotel would be cold given that it was early spring. However, the opposite was the case. We had to sleep with windows open as the room was often too hot. When my wife became ill and request a doctor, the hotel staff were quick to make arranges for a doctor to visit. But the best bit is its location. Around the corner is a tube station (which we never used) while just 50 metres up the road out front of the hotel was a bus stop serviced by six different bus routes. This meant that if you missed one bus there was another only a few minutes later. In fact the longest wait we had at the stop was five minutes. It also meant it was simple to get to see sights such as St Pauls,Tower of London, Kensington Palave Royal Albert Hall. Then again one afternoon I walked from the hotel to the London Eye. Took 25 minutes. British Museum was 5 minutes walk away. And don't bother with a travel sim for your smartphone. There is a smartphone provided in the room for free calls and free internet. Collapse
