Got this as a bargain through Secret Escapes and very glad we did. The rooms are very well laid out with half the flooring being laminate/wipe clean for easy maintenance and the half near the bed being carpeted, so you get the home comforts, but a lot less of an issue with potentially damp carpets from the bathroom or general dirt on the floor. Provision of the smart phone is quite good, and we gave it a whirl with Google maps to save the battery lives on our phones BUT it was very very slow, so we gave up in the end and went back to our phones. We were originally given Rm 17 which I think is the smallest and right in the corner of the block so faced by brick walls and is quite dark. Can't be helped as all hotels have rooms that aren't as big, or in the best location and there's not a lot they can do. As the hotel wasn't busy, we managed to negotiate a move to Rm 12 which was amazing, albeit noisy. It's worth noting that this hotel is very near to the Hospital and Medical University so aside from the normal traffic noisy the emergency services do add a lot to the noise levels from the road. Loved the quirky and boutique design of the hotel and the perfect location within a stone's throw to Russell Square underground. It's small and intimate but has everything you need. Some rooms are apartment style The reception/breakfast/dining area was beautifully presented and clean. Plenty of choice for breakfast without the buffet overload and food wastage that often goes on in hotels. Staff have heavy accents which can make them difficult to understand but the services levels are fabulous - other hotels could learn from them! Had a brilliant stay. The only recommendations I would say: - Ironing facilities are advertised but it's a non-steam iron. It just would not get creases out and we had to resort to soaking the face cloths to iron heavy fabric on jeans etc - A couple of complementary bottles of water in the room would be good - I am sure I saw somewhere that they provide iphone docking stations but I didn't see one - mobile phone charging facilities would be a good idea. I think the hotel smart phone charger might have fit Samsung. - Maybe charge the internal rooms at more of a discount and let people know this when they are booking. This way there would be less complaints about the rooms that are in this category, as it's unfair to charge the same price for several rooms when some are light and bright with views, and others are internal and facing the buildings opposite. Hotel was so well run. Couldn't have been better. Great for friends, family or couples. The staff were very friendly and showed us everywhere we need to go. Also the room itself was great for a European hotel.

Let start off by saying that I'm more of an Airbnb kinda gal, preferring a local experience over a hotel but somtimes, a hotel is a better fit for the destination. This is the case for my visit to London in December. We stayed for 2 nights and walked all over the place from this hotel (we are good walkers). From the hotel, we were able to walk to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, then made our way over to the Thames River to catch a view of the Westminister Abby, London Eye and even walked all the way to the famous Thames bridge. We found the hotel to be conveniently located next to the Tube, Russell station - 3 stops from the effervescent scene in Chinatown and also the same line goes to Heathrow airport. Staff was helpful and courteous though I found it hard to understand them as they were not native English speakers (Polish perhaps??) Either way, room was comfy and modern. Beds were fine (I find beds around the world are never as good as hotels in the US). Everything was clean and well kept. I would recommend this hotel for a simple stay and at a decent price. Collapse

We spent two nights at the Morton Hotel and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is very close to the Russell Square tube station which was very convenient for getting from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to various tourist areas in London. The hotel was also in walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Also convenient was the fact that there was a small grocery store next door to the hotel which was nice for picking up a quick drink or a pastry for breakfast. The hotel itself was quiet and the room, while small, was very comfortable. The hotel was affordable but still had a lot of personality. The room and bathroom were quite clean. The bathroom was very modern and well lit including a window overlooking a park. The room included robes and plenty of towels. Additionally, the room provided a complimentary smart phone that we could take with us and use while we were traveling around the city. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Collapse

To Whom it may concern, When I arrived at Morton Hotel I expected all the amenities of a luxury hotel, mints, showers, a nice pre work out rub down from Jésus. All of my requirements were met, bar one. Instead of a luxury mint atop my pillow there was instead an unfiltered unadulterated biological blessing, a small white dishonor upon my heart. Gratefully the concierge was more than obliging when it came to the removal and replenishment of the befouled sheets allowing me to enjoy the rest of the night with my darling Julie. Upon waking up I was pleasantly surprised to find a selection of complimentary mini cheeses. However, the cheese to cracker ratio, about which I have written a paper, was way off. Me and my wife Marjory proceeded to have a lovely day by the Thames drinking the commonly loved, red stripe. For which I have also written a review. Unfortunately we had to make an early re-appearance at the hotel as Kennith had to fetch his ointment. At this point something dreadful occurred to me... The situation had escalated, to a near phantom level. Some how, as if by some greater power, the mystery mark had returned. I was bewildered, baffled I let out a scream: "Hark!" I looked to Julie who was crying at the return of the white messiah. I composed myself and called room service, they could hear how grief stricken I was over the phone. Curses! I shouted as the mystery mark returned for a third time the following day, Judie was fed up, disheveled and a shell of her former self, I must say she has never returned to the way she was prior to this trip. Overall I would say this was a successful trip to London. Judie, Julie, Kennith and I haven't spoke since, but i must say it was truly the best weekend of my life. As for Marjory, scrumptious. Lots of Love, Dave, Daryl, Dennis and Dean. XxXOoXxoO Collapse
