Taxi from airport to Monterey hotel (town centre) 15 min.The hotel can only be described as superb l cannot fault it in any way sauna, hot tub, jacuzzi, indoor pool great. The staff were excellent, rooms to a high standard food full English breakfast evening meal plenty of choices this is a 3star but I would rate as 4. Before I went I heard stories of how costly food and drinks were we looked around and prices the same and sometimes cheaper than Britain.Travel by bus is the easiest way to see the island a £7.50 all day ticket means you can see most of the island in one day.I would recommend you visit the War Tunnels but there are so many attractions I'llleave it up you.Would I go back yes the people are so friendly,it was a pleasure being there Collapse

I booked this hotel with my brother as we came over for a week to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. I have worked on the island a long time ago and this hotel had a good reputation and we were not dissapointed. The staff are excellent very friendly and very effcient and special mention to victor who did the bar a top guy and we had many conversations about football. The food was fantastic breakfast was very good and plenty of choice and we ate a few nights in the restaraunt and again the choice and standard was excellent and again the staff were exceptional the way they looked after you. The rooms were so comfortable and the beds were amazing i felt so rested after my week as i slept so well every night. The bathroom and showers were spotless and clean. It has been twenty years since i last visited jersey i will be back in the near future and wont bother looking at any other hotels top hotel top staff and excellent value for money. Thanks for a great week i will be back. Xxx Collapse

Having arrived at this hotel early after a 7.15 am flight from Birmingham, we expected to leave our luggage until our room was ready (check in wasn't until lunch time) however after a short while the receptionist called us and told us a room was ready for us. Room was on ground floor over looking the pool area, which being early in the season was fine for us. It did have access to the pool through french door which may be popular for some in the summer. Room felt as others have said, a little dated but was spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable. Toiletries provided were very good and a powerful hair dryer was connected by the dressing table. (one little problem was the cord to the hairdryer is short and wouldn't reach to see in the mirror, maybe a small one on the wall could be provided) Tea Coffee, and Hot chocolate provided and replenished daily. The staff throughout this hotel in all areas are well presented and very helpful and polite and are a credit to the management. The restaurant and bar areas have been refurnished and are comfortable and modern. The food is the best we have had both in choice, presentation and cooked to perfection - well done to the Chief and staff. We were half board and at this time of the year it was very quiet in there but that didn't distract from the service we got and we enjoyed the cereal, full cooked breakfast and tea and toast each morning and the three course evening meals. The hotel Spa was well heated and had a steam room, jacuzzi, smallest pool and small gym which were very nice to use after a day out walking. The hotel is easy to get to by bus from the airport with a bus outside the exit which takes you to Liberation Square Bus Station for £2 and then you get the number 21 bus, stand K -ask for the Hotel De France and 5 minutes later you are dropped off right outside the Monterey for another £2. Taxis from the airport are about £17 to £19 each way. We had a taxi back to the airport which the hotel receptionist arranged for us and we had a lovely elderly gentleman driver who told us some of the interesting sites to go to in late spring, summer times pointing out local landmarks. The hotel is in walking distance of St Helier about 20 minutes with a large Co-op store (has a cafe and sells everything) on the way - take 1st right then 1st left. Right after the Co op brings you to a nice park with an excellent play area. Weather at this time of the year isn't brilliant and there are not many tourist places to visit yet as they open towards the end of March, but wrap up and there are some lovely walks around the coast to Havre de Pas with great scenery. Lots of shops in St Helier and on the Waterfront a large cinema and leisure centre. Also a great coffee shop - Coopers and walks around the Marina with views to Elizabeth Castle, which can be reached at low tide but not sure if open yet. Fort Regent is worth a visit - has been a leisure centre for many years but you can still walk around the Ramparts and the view is good - steep climb up or can drive up. Howard Davis Park is worth a visit, with spring flowers out now. We would have liked to visit Gerald Durrell Zoo (a bus runs outside the hotel) but due to weather this is a place we will have to return to see along with other attractions so we look forward to returning to this hotel again.
