My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night to attend a military ball held in the hotel. It was convenient to stay in the same building and not have to commute. Upon our arrival, there were 2 receptionists and theis manager behind the desk. There was no hello for a while. When we finally got noticed (there was no other guests btw), the check-in went smooth and fast. Our room was very nice! A/C worked great, it was clean, nice size bathroom, seating area, balcony, lots of space, .... just the bed was not very comfortable. Also, there were 2 beds pushed together so a bit awkward. Service during our ball was nice and friendly. Food, however, was terrible! I managed to eat a salad only. The rest of the night was filled with dancing and fun stuff....Bar was a disaster. Lots of people attended and there were only 3 people working behind the bar who were VERY exhausted at the end of the night. Prices were outrageous but would not bother me if the drinks were of a good quality. Mojito with no ice and no bacardi - completely disgusting and i had only one sip. Tequila shot with no salt or lemon - tequila had a bad taste. It was seriously a disaster. Breakfast had a good variety of breads and other pastries...I think that is very it ends...nasty eggs, salty bacon, fruits tasted funny, service did not say hi or smiled at all. Checkout - 3 receptionists, relatively friendly but in no rush to notice you. This hotel is nice, service needs serious management guiding and should consider lowering prices a bit as the quality does not live up to it. I honestly would not stay here again. Collapse

To be honest, we were only told that we would be staying at this hotel at the last minute by our tour guide as there was some "administrative errors in booking" by the agency. Our tour group of 19 were shocked but had no choice as we were told this hotel had a higher rating than the one we were supposed to stay. It took us more than 1.5 hour from the city center where we had our sightseeing tour to arrive at this hotel. Well, you can imagine the distance and it also took us 1.5 hr to reach the airport the next day! Upon arrival at around 8.45pm, our first impression was a resort-style, chalet type of hotel covering a wide area surrounded by nice gardens, greenery and flowers in a country rural site! However, after disembarking from our coach and in the process of collecting our luggage, we were "kissed" by groups of big flies and mosquitoes! Really frightening and we had to hurry and go into the lobby. But the paths were made of stones and thus slowed down our pace as the wheels from our luggages had difficulty maneuver through them. Even when we made our way into the lobby, there were flies and mosquitoes that followed us in and still "chasing and irritating" us. The lobby was quite huge though but we could tell it has been quite dated. Our door key was not those card-access type but with a small dumb bell key holder that was quite heavy. (we had similar experience with this type of key in Switzerland when we stayed in an old hotel in Interlaken). Our room was on the 3rd storey on the other side from the main building (where the lobby was) and had to walk through a corridor where we saw an activity room, table tennis room and a huge indoor swimming pool! Cool but sad to say we had no choice to utilize any of them). But the room was extremely spacious and cosy with nostalgic feeling. Nice wall colours and soothing lightings. Sofa was nice and Bed was quite comfortable too. In fact, it could simply accommodate 4 persons. However, there was no minibar/fridge or kettle for us to make hot beverages, not to mention no coffee or tea sachets were provided though there was a bottle of complimentary drinking water. There was no aircon in the room and was quite warm and we had to open the windows, But it was cooling with the breezes coming in. Wifi was free but not stable as it got cut off from time to time and every time we had to re-register to activate the usage. The cafe, located on the 2nd storey, was spacious in a large dinning area and offered a good spread of food and beverage options for buffet. This was one of the few hotels we have encountered in this entire Europe trip that have provided a wide variety for breakfast, In fact, some of them were very good like the bread and bacons, tasty and yummy. Staff were friendly and efficient in clearing our used plates. We had gone to the cafe to request for some ice tubes for our sparkling juices and the staff on duty was cheerful and chatted with us. It was free too! The hotel's surrounding is lovely and resemble a garden city. With an outdoor swimming pool as well, trees, flowers were spotted at every corner and a beer garden was around. If not for the flies and mosquitoes, it would be a great experience taking a stroll in the gardens. We only stayed here one night and thus unable to comment on the room service. Overall, we felt the reasonably deserve rating for this hotel should be 3.5 star instead of the acclaimed 4-star as it still short fall from some or certain essential things that were missing or not provided for. Was there for two days for a company event. Rooms are decent and clean, maybe a bit on the small side. There was no coffee maker in the room. A room safe was provided for valuables. Food and service were outstanding. Great breakfast selections. The conference area is quite modern and supports laser shows and smoke guns. Getting to the conference area from the rooms is a hike. Easy to get lost, I actually needed a map of the hotel for the first day. Collapse

Stayed here for 1 night while on business in April 2016. In the rural Bavarian countryside outside Munich lies a beautiful little village called Bad Goegging. In this idyllic setting is a beautiful hotel called The Monarch. The drive from the airport passes by fields of mustard and hops...already relaxing you for what's to come. The hotel itself is nicely set up and our check-in and out was efficient, as one would expect in Germany. After an especially long walk thru several corridors, I reached my room which was the 2nd last from the elevator and I didn't really mind this. Why? Because I apparently had a much larger size room than most of my colleagues...quite spacious actually. Although the problem was that the cleaners had left the windows open and a large mosquito buzzed around the room and bit me in the night, leaving a large welt that I can still see. No matter...it's beautiful and the air is great. The room furnishings were a touch Spartan, but my biggest issue was that the bed was not a true Queen bed, but rather 2 Twins that had been pushed together. I hate that... Also the blankets were tiny Twin size blankets. I can't fit under these things...I am quite nicely sized so it may not be an issue for others. But I hate this as well. The cafe on the ground level was very welcoming and the batman Laszlo was extremely friendly. We had several beers and some snacks here on a warmish sunny afternoon. I didn't get to try the spa facilities but the several people that were taking advantage of them seemed quite happy. We walked the short walk to the town square and beyond...and had a great meal. I loved being outside in this great spring evening. The breakfast is decent, I can't compliment it too much. The fruit was not great and the hot eggs were too dry. The sausages are nice though. The staff is helpful as well. The wifi was poor and dropped all the time. Not helpful if you have to do some work, as the remote location meant my local SIM didn't work very well either. Overall, it's a decent experience if you have to visit the nearby area...which we did for work. Collapse

It's definitely located in the middle of nowhere which might be a plus if you intend to run a convention with not a lot of distraction opportunities. The hotel offers dozens of meeting rooms in any size you can imagine. There is a nice spa area with an inside and outside pool, quite big indeed. The rooms are nice. I had a suite in the executive floor which offered a lot of space and a balcony. Definitely recommend, nearly at five star level. Collapse
