Very pleasant hotel to spend weekend with family and friends. The rooms were very spacious and clean, while breakfast needs further improvement with respect to quality offered. The staff is very efficient and polite at all times. Big advantage is the location of the hotel. You only need 3-5 minutes to reach destinations on foot to Hyde park, Bond street, Berkeley square, Piccadilly etc Also best restaurants are all nearby. The hotel is value for money. Collapse

We booked this hotel as we have already stayed there previously and were satisfied the first time. This time though the service was considerably worse. -Before booking our room my husband called the hotel to clarify whether our suite had 1 or 2 rooms. We were told that the suite we were about to book comprised 2 rooms. Upon arrival we were put in a single room suite. we've got 2 kids and one of them is a baby we definitely need a 2nd room to be able to put them to sleep quaintly in the night. We asked to be put in a 2 room suite as promised by phone. They've changed our suite but told us that we would have to pay extra money per night as they had to upgrade us. -The suite was very cold. We asked for the technician to check the central heating. He came in the room and told us that it felt warm to him. Nevertheless he checked the central heating and said he fixed something. We asked if it was working or not and he kept repeating "I fixed something it will work now". What felt really suspicious though is that he brought with him 2 electrical heaters, he plugged them in and said they should help as well, until the central heating was efficient again. The central heating never worked and since my 2 kids (one of which is only 13 months old) were already sleeping for the night i was obliged to keep getting up overnight to make sure they were under their blankets because the room was cold. -Next morning another technician comes, before we even called, and said that there was a problem with the heating of the room and we had to change room again. -In our new room there were no chairs and no table. I asked for at least 1 table and the lady said she couldn't bring me any because none was available. I had to insist that in our previous room we had 2 tables and 4 chairs and they could at least bring 1 table. A few minutes later they brought it. No chairs though. -The receptionists are not native english speakers. As a result there are a lot of misunderstandings and very often we had to rephrase our sentence several times because they couldn't understand. -I called room service and asked for an empty bowl because I wanted to put my baby's milk bottle inside and heat it in a "bain-marie". I was told that they would bring my empty bowl as a favour this time but next time I would have to pay for it as all cutlery is charged. - We've ordered dinner the first night which was just deplorable. The steak was hard and full of fibers. Impossible to cut even with the best of intentions... The chips were not crunchy and were already cold upon arrival. On our first stay at this hotel 3 years ago we were very positively impressed with the food. And since with the kids we were obliged to have dinner at the hotel we ended up eating burgers every night to make sure we receive something edible. -The rooms overlooking the front have an agreeable view but are noisy overnight. The ones on the back have no view at all, are quite but in the morning we woke up a couple of times by the track collecting the rubbish. On the positives I must admit that: -The breakfast is satisfying and diverse. -The hotel is extremely central and we didn't need to use the underground at all. In general we were not satisfied with our stay this time. We are definitely not returning to this hotel again. Collapse

Had looked forward to sampling afternoon tea here. Have taken afternoon tea in many hotels worldwide and wanted to tick this one off the list. Staff not acquainted with afternoon tea service sadly and not attentive. They used a gimmick triple egg timer as a way of telling us when the tea would be infused. Shame they skimped on the tea leaves. I asked for more sandwiches and was informed that we would have to pay an additional £6 per plate - never heard anything like it! Warm scones are advertised but they are brought at the beginning so we're cool by the time we were ready for them. Don't mention the jam - a mixed fruit concoction! The manager seemed confused by my request for strawberry jam. One small jar was produced by a very confused waitress. This was also a first time for us to be asked to leave as they were setting up for dinner. The other customers were just a shocked as we were. Glad I went back, used to be the Britannia, but won't recommend. Collapse
Nice hotel, great location

Great location, good room size, well appointed and clean. Helpful staff, and a decent breakfast choice. Handy for events in Park Lane, and Oxford Street shopping. Would have got a max score had it not been for queues at check-in.
