I stayed here with a large group. Check-in was smooth, and the hotel's location was fantastic - easy walking distance to many of Sorrento's sites yet in a relatively quiet area. I was never bothered by trains or noise in general as others report. My bathroom was small, but others in our group had larger bathrooms with tubs. My room had a shower the size of a typical RV shower. The hotel was very clean and comfortable over all. There is a great bar and lounge area, roof deck, and pool area. The staff is cordial but not friendly. The buffet breakfast is just okay, though the waitstaff try hard. I could always find something to eat and gravitated towards the yogurt, cured meats, and hard-boiled eggs. I would pass on the large group dinners. Even though the dinners were included, I felt as if I would be missing out on one of the main reasons to be in Italy - the food and the great local wine. There are numerous inexpensive dining options that are far superior to the hotel restaurant in the area. I would stay at this hotel again. If you go, make sure that you walk through the lemon grove park across the street, with a limoncello stand in the middle of the park. If you pay for the Internet and it doesn't work, you have to contact them when it doesn't work, or you will be charged. Collapse

Do not eat here. If it is free with your tour, still eat elsewhere. The most disgusting food I have ever had. Cream of Asparagus soup, no Asparagus, beef was over cooked and tasteless, canned peas, chocolate ice cream was soft serve. Waiter said it was like gelato, no different. Not a typical Italian food dinner. Wifi in lobby only, charge for wifi in room per device. Mattress soft and sunken in. Run. Collapse

Stayed here recently as part of a group tour of Italy. I was very pleased as it is in the downtown - Sorrento being hilly and windy - spread out - you can be in Sorrento but still a distance from the shopping "tourist" core. We were able to walk to the pedestrian-only shopping alleys, restaurants, the beachfront, parks/plazas, and monuments. Decor overall - charming, vintage - great artwork, sculpture, maps, etc. on each landing and in the hallways. The rooms were recently remodeled. New tile work, vanities, etc. I'm a neat freak when it comes to bathrooms and the housekeeping was immaculate. I thought they were spacious in comparison to some other European hotels. I believe almost every room has a small balcony with a bistro table and two chairs. Quite charming. The air in the rooms wasn't turned on for the season yet so it was great to open the balcony doors or you could tilt the top open to let air in if you wanted less air or if you are concerned about safety. Night stands, wardrobe, large desk - lots of places to store stuff and make it feel like home for your stay. Free wifi in lobby and very reasonable rate to get a code for use in your room. Hotel restaurant had enough choice for Americans and Europeans at breakfast. Staff was very friendly and accommodating - all spoke English. For dinners the menu rotates and you have a choice of appetizer, entree, veggie, and then the dessert cart. i can't comment on prices since it was part of a group package. We had a few group dinners and i have to say the first night was subpar. It wasn't horrible but a few members of my group opted to eat out the other nights. However, the subsequent nights were much better - certain dishes delicious and I would eat there again. While there are some hotels that have such phenomenal restaurants you go there just to eat (even if not staying there), I don't think I would ever eat here as a "restaurant" choice. I would walk to a local restaurant if not included with my stay. Make sure you visit the top floor for nice views, sun, fresh air. Tables, lounge chairs, etc., some shaded if you would like. Tip: be sure to visit the free agriculture park (lemon and orange trees) open 10:30 to 4:00 I believe. Literally right across the street. Collapse

Hotel Michaelangelo in Sorrento is a short walk to almost everything you need to visit to get a great feel for what Sorrento is all about. Here's what i liked: Proximity- everything was close walk- Train Station, Restaurants, Shopping, City Center Rooms were built for couples and families... Rooms were plenty big and well appointed for the traveller that is out and about all day...seeking wine by 5pm...and calling it an early night.. Comfort- the hotel is a bit bigger than expected... bathrooms are bigger and well appointed... Breakfast Room was HUGE and plenty of food lines for everyone... Food was great and coffee was solid Staff was professional and accommodating... we had a family and they did a great job to assist What i didnt like: Shower only rooms have small showers... (welcome to EU- its that way everywhere)...but rooms with tubs have larger shower action.... Food choices at restaurant for room service were lacking...but there is so much food around you that is good it was never a big deal Roof Top was closed off for repairs or cleaning at the time...(not quite yet time of year) Smoking... sometimes in Europe you have to deal with people smoking on your floor... this happened one night...but was taken care of by the staff... Overall... I would go back to Hotel Michaelangelo... and found a lot of value. Collapse
