2 week stay at this lovely rustic Italian hotel where the staff done their upmost to ensure all guests were happy and enjoying their stay. Food was brilliant, evening meals are ordered at breakfast in advance and guests are given quite a lot of choice and no meal was repeated within our stay which we thought was excellent. Breakfast was same most mornings but as we were going out and about this did not bother us much as it was just a put me on until we had lunch. The hotel is situated just outside Sorrento town on a slight incline so may not suit everyone but there is a bus which stops right outside to the hotel and a bus stop a bit further down the road which you can pay to get on (Not Sita buses as need a card before embarking for them), we mostly walked in and out of town because of the views and refreshing breeze rolling in from the sea. First the positives. Room was clean, good, clean beds, clean bathroom with useful bidet. Our room eventually had views of the Golfo di Napoli. Nice balcony with French doors overlooking a noisy main road, but when the doors were closed the noise was very subdued. Problem was the aircon, it didn't work so the choice was - French doors open, room cool but noisy, or, doors closed, room quiet but too hot! Our room was nicely decorated in pale blue and white. All floors were ceramic tiles so noisy guests were a problem with echoing corridors. Our first room was at the rear of the hotel overlooking dark scrub and walls. We asked for an upgrade and were moved to a superior room with a view for 10€ per night extra. The shower in the second room was weak and Luke warm. We told reception twice and they promised to fix it but didn't. The waiters were grumpy and needed a refresher course at Waiter School. The exception was the young man behind the bar, who was courteous and friendly. Food was not exceptional but adequate for the price. Good choice of wine (when they had it) at very cheap prices. House wine 10€ and a good Italian DOC for 16€. Our room had a fridge with a selection of chargeable drinks, and this caused the BIG problem with a woman in reception. We took a bottle of lemonade from the fridge in the first few days. We assumed that this was on the full page printed bill that we were given when we checked out in the morning. We paid the bill in full, 326€. As the coach would not pick us up until 17.20, we spent the day in Sorrento. When we returned in the afternoon, a charming man from reception asked if we had taken a lemonade from the fridge that morning or the day before. I told him no and he accepted that and said not to worry and he went back to his computer in reception. It was then that a woman appeared accusing us of taking the 3.50€ bottle from the fridge that morning in a rather aggressive manner. I pointed out that we hadn't and had settled the room bill with all drinks that morning. She went on and on about this lemonade for what seemed like ages. I could have paid it but I didn't on principle. Anyway, we left her accusing us of being liars and went to the bar for a cup of tea to settle our nerves. After I had calmed down I thought about the bottle that we had taken four days earlier. We checked the bill and it wasn't there. We told the chap from reception that they hadn't charged us for that one and we paid for it. It left a bad taste in our mouths though. Collapse

Never found out about the "courtesy bus" in spite of asking. at reception. "timetable" seemed to be good but if you can't identify it or where it stops not a lot of use. Had phone problem - friends in Naples trying to ring us - reception said we were engaged which we weren't. Eventually got them to make the call from reception for us - not charged for it. Safety deposit boxes were in reception not in rooms - not worth it. "charge for lost key" 350 Euros not worth the hassle unless you have something very valuable. Others in group went to restaurant next door and said it was very good. Not sure where the 10 minute walk to first restaurant quoted by others comes from unless they were going away up the hill. The continental always had scrambled eggs - best I have ever had at a hotel. most days there were frankfurter type sausages with them unfortunately. Bacon only on 2 days instead. Capri as an excursion very easy to do on own at less than half price of the tour company (and that included the tickets for ferry chair lift and funicular not in their price. Steps up from the road make it unsuitable for disabled. Have marked it down a bit on service after trouble with the phone and courtesy bus info being hazy. Apart from that an enjoyable stay. Collapse

Hotel a bit dated & tired ,room cleaned daily fresh towels ,staff not over friendly a bit grumpy in dining room sometimes , location a bit out of of Sorrento on a very busy junction walk into town about 15 to 20 mins lovely views on way no footpath for about 400 yards a bit scary at first but soon got used to it. Food a bit bland sometimes we ate out a lot. Rooms at front overlooking busy road,t he rooms at back quieter but a bit misleading did not overlook pool & gardens, only scrubland & olive grove. inspite of being dissapointed with hotel peaple staying there were friendly. The hotel looks quite appealing from outside but the room we were given was not so appealing. It was at the back on the ground floor, dark with a view out the patio doors onto a very high wall. The patio area was not very private and had only a small table and upright chairs, nothing to be comfortable on. The shower was old and very pokey but the room and bathroom were clean and towels were frequently changed. The bed was fine but, as others have mentioned, we didn't have control over our own air conditioning which was a nuisance. You could ask for it to be put on or off but sometimes we wanted it on to get to sleep with but to turn it off in the night when it gets too cold! We didn't go in the pool as it looked a bit slimey round the walls and we tried to lounge by the poolside but it was just too noisy from the adjacent very busy road. The food was adequate in quantity but on the whole not the best we've had in hotels and sometimes the meat, for example was a bit tough or the fish was covered in too much sauce. However, the dining room staff and all staff, in fact, were very pleasant and friendly and helpful. We didn't mind the walk down to town at all once we'd tried it, there are nice views on the way. Collapse
