The Messner Dependence consists of a group of historic buildings overlooking a small canal in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood of Venice, and just a few steps from the Salute water bus stop. It offers comfortably furnished rooms and a varied breakfast buffet. Around the corner, guests will find the Accademia art gallery and the Penny Guggenheim Museum. Across the nearby Grand Canal, you can travel by water bus to the famous Saint Mark’s Square or Santa Lucia Train Station.
All of the hotel rooms at the Messner Dependence come with satellite TV, safe, and a private bathroom with hairdryer. The majority of rooms have air conditioning and a number of rooms overlook the hotel’s garden or the canal.
After a busy day of exploring the varied sights of Venice, guests can visit the hotel’s bustling restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal and a fine glass of wine. The main hotel building provides a bar and a small outdoor seating area for an al fresco dining experience.
A few steps from the main hotel takes you to the annex buildings for a more residential atmosphere in one of the historic canal-side buildings. Situated in the middle of the aristocratic and elegant Sestiere di Dorsoduro neighbourhood, your rooms are surrounded by the placid waters of the Canale De La Fornasa. From here you can explore the mysterious Venetian streets and passages on a discovery of antique stores, galleries and museums. Guests will be checked-in and take breakfast at the main hotel building - Messner Palace.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February 18. Upon booking with travel agent we were not aware that we would be staying in a different building to the actual main building/restaurant. The building we stayed in had no security and people constantly coming in and out with friends. Noise throughout the night. The room itself is very small and the shower is tiny. Our bed was 2 singles pushed together on steel fold up frames. Not ideal at all. Breakfast was to an Italian liking, it is not international. The hotel gave 30% off on any meal you have there which was a bonus and they also gave us free gondola passes to get across the canal (they normally only cost €2) but the gesture was nice. If travelling to Venice on a budget, you do get what you pay for here. Staff were very friendly but wouldn't recommend for a romantic long weekend away. Collapse

We stayed here for a short break - it was ok. Very good value/clean/ adequate . It says it is a 4 star - that’s just not true . Breakfast fine but nothing fancy. Room wasn’t made up one morning - cold shower one evening. Inexplicably no duvets. Was cold- wore coat in bed ! The staff were very friendly /helpful and polite. I don’t think I’d stay again - I’d like a little bit more luxury but if you’re after a good value 3 star and are forgiving of a few glitches or just better at complaining ( they were so nice I didn’t like to !) then this may do the trick Great quiet location and restaurant ok . Arrived by private jet boat and were dropped off out the front of Hotel Messner. Went inside to check in and whilst. Accomodation was paid in full prior to check in. I confirmed that our room was in the actual hotel building and not down the street light i had read in reviews. The person advised it is down the street, i explained that if the quality of the rooms was as per reviews that we wont be checking in and will find an alternative hotel. When we walked in the doors to the entrance were broken and the it also had backpackers adjoined to the premises. Didnt feel very safe. There was no lights so we had to carry all of our luggage up the stairs by ourselves without any help from hotel staff. Hotel staff were very rude and didnt care. When we got to the room our room door was wide open which ran alarm bells for me. The rooms were so small, stunk and the beds were so small. Im 6'2 and a good 20cm of my leg hung off the end of the bed. The shower was that small, i dont know many people that would fit in it. They light was flickering in the room and the room next door had a baby screaming and the parents screaming at each other. I asked if they had any other rooms and they said this is all they have. I said the door doesnt even lock properly and she looked at me, as if to say what you want me to do about it. We said we arent staying her as i got a very bad vibe and needed to ensure that my partner felt safe which she didnt. We handed back the keys to the hotel and they said they wont provide a refund. Thats another story I recommend that you dont book at this place. Collapse

Stayed at messner for three nights in January. This hotel met our every need - it’s interior decor is magnificent, room amenities met requirements, it is in a fantastic location in a very trendy area of Venice minutes away from ferries, main sights and Gondolas (they even include a gondola ticket per person!) and has a wonderful restaurant where we are for two nights - with a 30% discount for residents. Breakfast was magnificent, food was outstanding and staff lovely. Will be staying here on my return in a few months time. Collapse
