We visited Madeley Court for a wedding on 10 February. Upon arrival we had a drink in the main bar. The cider was flat and slightly warm. Not pleasant. We went across to the mill for the marriage ceremony and reception. The wait at the bar was huge due to a lack of staff. The cider was a little more palatable though. Following the ceremony the afternoon turned to evening with no sign of any food. We were eventually seated an hour later than planned. Our table were the last to be served and when we got to the buffet we were informed that they had run out of pork. We ended up with a stuffing bap, some pasta and veg. My mum is allergic to tomatoes so all she had to eat was some plain rice, a stuffing bap and some broccoli and carrots. The bar staff were terribly inexperienced and one girl was particularly flirtatious and using her 'assets' to draw attention to herself. The bride and groom were devastated, they really wanted their guests to have a wonderful time but all of us, and especially them, were hugely let down on their special day. Collapse

Attended a family wedding in February 2018. The setting is picturesque and the function rooms (The Mill) were ideal. The catering was chaotic. A young, inexperienced and apparently unmanaged staff had to be organised by a guest! As a result the food was late and past its best. Some family members ended up with a stuffing-bap only as the main feature of their meal. Tried to get coffee later but they were out of coffee. When some was eventually found the young barman couldn't operate the machine. When someone more experienced arrived the machine wouldn't work, so no coffee! A hotel with no coffee! In spite of all this the wedding itself was great, but little thanks to the hotel. Collapse

Stayed here as a large group of friends and must say stunning location and lovely building but that's where it ends unfortunately ... Young staff whom worked hard on serving and were very courteous and polite but we're obviously not experienced enough and needed a leader to direct them, receptionist was under pressure running front desk and the bar it was just like Fawlty towers, one girl didn't know how to operate the coffee machine and when we did get coffee it tasted like flask coffee ( machine needed calibrating ) staff seemed at a low ebb, unhappy, depressed no smiley faces and one member of staff even broke down and cried!!! Hotel was full so where were the management to run the show..been to better Brittania hotels group and the less we say about the room cleanliness the better Collapse

This was my best friends mom’s wedding, which is clearly an exceptionally important day to all of us involved. However, we were far from impressed by the service provided to us. For starters the glasses and cutlery given to us were clearly dirty which is disgusting and unsanitary! Also, new staff were not supervised with a boss therefore they did not have a clue what they were doing! Not professional at all. The managers of the company are bad, unkind and unprepared. The drinks provided, such as cider were flat. As well as the even planner walked out just before the reception had taken place. Will not be coming back again, and will be telling further family and friends to not visit this venue. Thanks for nothing :) Collapse

Our day was ruined by lack of staff training and a management who didn't care less. Our photos look beautiful but the reality behind the smiles is we were having an awful day. The food and beverage service was so shocking to the point that one of our guests had to intervene and direct the staff as there was no manager. Dirty tableware and back of house was filthy when we went in the next day to tidy up and not just a bit it clearly hasn't been cleaned this year. Our friends and family had waits of up to 30 minutes at the bar and on several occasions nobody could get a glass of prosecco. The list we have is long, bedrooms lacking heating and hot water, 40 minute wait at breakfast for coffee, wrong items sent. We are currently trying to resolve this complaint but management are very reluctant to acknowledge the short comings and implement changes so that this doesn't happen again. My Father-in-law summed it up for us like this; "Well, there's one thing we can thank Madeley Court for, at least they've shown all the kids here how not to do a job" I'm so sad that I have to write such a bad review as I wanted my wedding day to be a happy memory but anything involving Madeley Court we a disaster.
