Does a job for the Airport - cold room

We stayed at the Mercure London Heathrow on 01/03/18 as a stop over to Heathrow Airport with flights the following day. We chose this hotel as we had stayed at other Mercure’s previously and chose the brand as it came with an ‘ok’ price compared to others. Following a short £16 Taxi from Heathrow Central (use Uber to get it half the price) On arrival the hotel looked pretty fancy (your typical Mercure, see pictures online) The hotel appears very welcoming / clean but not too overly grand, and upon walking through the the entrance we were greeted on the check-in desk. (This seems Manned 24 hours which was ideal as we arrived at nearly at 10 p.m at night) Following check-in we went to our room and this was our main and only disappointed thing. When we walked in the room it was freezing cold & upon trying to use the heating it struggled to work properly but eventually it did turn on. The room was also fairly dated & not to the same standard as the check-in desk, it just needed a refurb to vibrant the room a little. During the night we woke and the room was still fairly cold despite the heating been on and it was here we noticed the window was broken and wouldn’t shut fully that meant a cold draft was coming in. As the heating came on prior to sleeping and being late we didn’t mention anything and it was the early hours upon the window discovery, so we persevered through it. However we would expect a hotel of this chain to resolve issues like this. (We understand others rooms might not have had the same issue) Breakfast was also not included in the price and at £15 it was a bit pricey, however the food was nice and breakfast buffet was well maintained by the staff. My wife also had lunch prior check-out again the drinks and food again were nice (and were actually good value) Overall the hotel did a job for us, but the main aspect ‘the room’ did let it down a little. I know you only use it generally for one night for the airport, but for the price you would expect issues of the broken window to be fixed prior to arrival and following any room checks on a regular basis. I booked a room and parked my car for 8 days here. On return to my car at about 23:30 the battery was flat. At reception the gentleman there immediately found jump leads and asked a colleague (who was literally just going home - she had her coat on) for the use of her car to get my engine started. Without hesitation the young lady assisted. Katie G was so helpful. Together we started my car and I was on my way. What an asset Katie is to this hotel. Outstanding service with a smile, and with kindness and compassion - very hard to find in today's world. Collapse

Stayed here before, and I'm sure will do so again. As others said, nothing expecptional about the hotel, standard Mercure rooms (perhaps a tad on the small side) but the combination of good value, very helpful and accommodating staff and a perfect location for west London continue to make this place my first choice. In the past I used to stay at the nearby Novotel Heathrow, but that hotel appears to be on a steady downhill slope while this one scored similarly well on this visit as well as the past ones. The only downside this time was the lack of sufficient parking place, there was some event and every spot was full. The front desk staff were very helpful though, I could leave the car near the entrance and they caled when a place freed up. Collapse

The hotel were very accommodating to our situation. (We were stuck in London due to our flight to Dublin being cancelled). Rooms were average, nice bathroom. Bar staff were excellent and the food was great. Would recommend to travelers wanting to stay close to Heathrow (roughly 12 pounds taxi to terminal 2) Prices were 139 pounds the first night but jumped to 169 pounds the second night of our stay because of the higher demand of vacancy due to the weather conditions. If you're traveling to the UK make sure you have the right adapters to plug into the outlets in the room. We brought the wrong ones and the hotel did not have any spare ones. This isn't a negative comment towards the hotel but just a reminder to travelers. Collapse

I guess one Mercure Hotel is pretty similar to another. The rooms are a shade small but adequate, the restaurant reasonably priced and the staff helpful. However, most people booking this one hotel will be using it as staging post for Heathrow, probably taking advantage of a package which includes car parking. That is what this review will focus on. The hotel is reasonably easy to find, with straightforward directions. Having read several reviews suggesting that parking spaces might be at a premium, we were a little concerned that there might be a problem. Consequently we arrived at the hotel earlier than we perhaps needed. As it turned out (this was mid-afternoon, mid-week on a Wednesday in February) there were a number of vacant spaces. I went to get something from the car later in the evening and even then parking would not have been an issue. If you are using the car parking facility, you will probably also be availing yourself of the shuttle Hopper bus. This ran from the hotel about every 45 minutes during the day and followed a set timetable. By the evening it would appear that a couple of routes are amalgamated – the 1 and 8. Although they are fairly frequent – every 20 minutes, be warned that the Mercure is the last stop on the route. We dropped off at about six hotels before finally getting back to our car. When you have a long journey ahead, this can be a little frustrating, but at that time of night we probably still got back to the hotel in less than half an hour from leaving the airport, so perhaps it is no big deal. As a park and stay hotel, the Mercure offers good value for money, was cheaper than many of the alternatives and can be recommended. Collapse
