I’ve stayed here quite a few times on business over the years but been a couple of years since I was last here. Nicely refurbished and brought up to date. Definitely a good hotel when you need to be in the centre of Leicester

Stayed one night in a standard room. Arrived at 1300hours and the room was ready. We were checked in very efficiently by an extremely friendly young lady and were allocated room 219 which appeared to have been recently refurbished and was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The room was clean. As it was Mothers Day, the restaurant was very busy and they were serving a special Mothers Day menu and although the restaurant manager said that he could arrange a table for us we decided to eat elsewhere. It was a disappointment as we were looking forward to sampling the menu at Morco's restaurant. We did have a problem with the room but the male receptionist was extremely helpful and did his utmost to resolve the problem. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection of food available. The breakfast serving staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is old and quirky and perhaps it could do with some updating but the exceptionally helpful and friendly staff really go out of their way to be helpful and to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. The hotel had booked a ball or disco in their function room over the weekend, pumping out extremely loud dance music every night of our weekend. You could hear every word of the songs clearly through the thin walls. I had 20 TV crew staying in this hotel which I had to relocate because they could not sleep. The hotel staff responded by saying "We are an events hotel, we do events and rooms" which I could not fathom why the hotel would be offering rooms to people outside of the event booking. Terrible customer service with zero fixes offered. Never using again. Collapse

Booked a privilege room for the night with my wife as a treat for her birthday. I knew of the hotel from years ago having worked in Leicester but we had a shock when we arrived, not because of the staff etc. but because the whole place is GREY. From the reception area, the corridors, the rooms, the doors - it's all grey. I can only think the decorators got a job lot and used it all here. Now, having been in the Royal Navy I've lived with GREY on board ships but it does make a hotel look so drab. Moving on to our privilege room (extra cost of course) I have to say that it was a large room but here we where greeted by a middle 'missing' drawer in the furniture - yes it was gone and nobody on the staff seemed to know why! Room radiator was inefficient and we had to use an electric heater. View from the large window was of a central light well looking onto a semi-industrial view of brickwork. There was a Marco White restaurant in the hotel but we did not dine there - menu looked very similar to many chain restaurants - Harvester, Table Table etc. Breakfast was served efficiently and the food was good. Would I stay again? - probably not Collapse

I stayed here for a night whilst visiting friends. I chose this hotel as it was close to the train station. I felt the overall customer service to be lacking. At check-in there was no one at the desk for five minutes until someone came from the back room. I was not acknowledged as a Le Club member and I was not offered my amenities that corresponded. The room and bathroom I received were clean and tidy. I dropped my bags and went to visit my friends. I came back after midnight to find that there was no heat in my room. I rang down to reception and the night porter said he would have to go and find a portable heater, but as he was busy with guests this would take some time. I told him it was ok as I was too tired to wait after a long day. The heating didn’t come on the next morning, so I can only presume it wasn’t working. In the morning I skipped breakfast and went to check-out. Again I had to wait for a receptionist to come from the back. I explained the issue with the heat to the receptionist and he seemed very disinterested. He handed me a cut out sheet of paper with the Operations Manager’s email and then wrote his name on it. It wasn’t even a proper business card and looked a bit amateur in my opinion. He told me to email that address as that is their complaints procedure. A total lack of interest and I just left. As a Le Club member, I stay in Accor Hotels quite often and I’m used to better. I used to stay in different Jupiter Hotels, who own this hotel when they were Jarvis Hotels and I had better service. I cannot recommend and will not return. Collapse
