Having stayed previously at this hotel we decided to come back for another weekend on one of their all inclusive breaks. Again, it did not disappoint. The staff at this hotel are amazing and cannot do enough for you. Two in particular stood out this visit, Abbey on reception and Dobbs the waiter. The food is superb and there is a good selection at breakfast. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment but this was not at all intrusive and did not spoil our stay. We were upgraded to a superior room which is very spacious and clean, although a little dated. The bed was amazingly comfortable and I had two of the best nights sleeps I have had in ages and I am not normally a great sleeper so that in itself speaks for itself. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was very quiet. Thank you to everyone at the hotel - we will be back again I am sure. Collapse

We came here for New Years Eve. On check in, the girl was friendly and gave us all the relevant information. Our room was nice and big and it was very clean. Couldn't fault anything with the room. The deal we were on was 3 course dinner, DJ, overnight stay and breakfast for £113 per person. This was definitely worth the money. The food was nice, the duck came out cold and when we sent it back it ended up being a bit over done, but that was better than having a cold main course. The staff were friendly, always asking if we were okay and if we would like more drinks. As we were only a party of 2 it was nice that even in the big ballroom we had our own separate table. The DJ's choice of music wasn't great but we still partied our way into the new year. One small negative that I have is that NONE of the bar staff could pour a decent pint of Guinness, and my boyfriend being a barman actually had to tell the staff to leave it to rest. The bacon sandwiches at 1am were the highlight of our night but as soon as they got put out, they were gone. Maybe the kitchen could have made a few more. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we might return again this year for new year. Let just hope the bar staff will know how to pour a Guinness! Collapse

Never been here before - booked a twixmas break just to alleviate boredom that can set in between Christmas and new year and to visit local areas. The two nights were booked as all inclusive so what the hell. To be perfectly honest we found the hotel very clean, the staff very helpful, the food very good, the bar service a little sporadic, but we got what was promised, In all very good value. The only downside was the archaic heating system, it was provided by strategically placed wall mounted convector heaters, 50% of which did not function,( the one in our room was fine) so whilst sitting in the bar it was advised to commandeer a mobile heater. We kind of got the impression that something was not right, there were people in suits walking around with sheets of paper always talking to members of staff. ( i don't know, just a gut feeling ) anyway I think the property could do with a little TLC but maybe it felt that way because the two days were pretty gloomy anyway. Overall good value but don't think we'll go there again. Collapse

We've been here for the last fives years or so. Last night really hit rock bottom. To give you perspective. The 'deal' included the Scottish Pipers, hats whistles crackers balloons festive decorations disco and dancing, good food and staff who are helpful, attentive and who understand that some drinks require ice buckets and a need to be kept at a cold temperature. Good food served hot and an evening with like minded people who had made the effort to look dress up in clothes for an evening party for the cost of a ticket over £60 per head. At least that is how it used to be...... How disappointing to find the maitre d too busy with his check list at seating people 'early' No decorations, or balloons or festive atmosphere. A distinct desire to try and please but a very clear focus on the hotel profit line....not the enjoyment of the guests for a special evening. A team of staff who were keen and enthusiastic but lacked knowledge and experience on these type of occasions. And a mis mash of guests, half who made the effort and a chap on the disco who was so out of touch and lazy in his choice of music that the dance floor was often empty or half full filled with people who just wanted to dance and have a good time. Disappointed. We won't be back. Collapse

Location is pretty good. Food is very average. Decor is average. Atmosphere is average. Staff hospitality is inconsistent from very good to below average. Quality of meeting rooms varies. It's a functional location but nothing to write home about.
