We recently had our staff meal for 45 people at Buttermilk and Maple, and I just had to write a quick review about the absolutely incredible job Jimmy and his team did. The service we received from Eleanor was brilliant, and the food was spot on! From ensuring each one of us felt welcome with a smile and full glass of prosecco on entry, to ensuring our food came out hot and at the desired times; every effort was put in to make this a great experience and it didn't go a miss. Jimmy was always on call to recommend his favourite whisky or gin, and the cocktails nailed some absolute classics. All of the team made us feel very special (even though they had plenty of other guests to see to) and were always easy to reach with any questions. I couldn't recommend eating/drinking here enough. The perfect atmosphere for lots of merriment to be had! Jimmy, Eleanor and the whole team 5*! Collapse

We decided to try a different hotel with a cheaper price for our weekend stay in Bristol (we are big fans of the Marriot Royal), and having stayed in many Mercure's before we thought here would be a great idea. The hotel is located in a decent place, within 5-10mins of Cabot Circus and college green. It is right on the water front which is nice and has a nice lobby. The room was okay - good size, with all amenities and clean (but not super clean, there was definitely some grubbiness!). The view from the room was horrendous.. worst I think we've ever stayed in. But hey we didn't spend too much time in the hotel anyway. It was also extremely hot at night.. even with supposed "air-con" and we couldn't open a window. Didn't try the breakfast, but the connected restaurant looked lovely with lots of choice! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and paid a good price... but we won't be returning. P.S the neither of the lifts worked (thank god we were only floor 2!). Collapse

The hotel was clean and lovely bar area and staff. The room was stylish and modern but we were disappointed with the following: 1. We paid for a double bed room but the beds were two singles pushed together. This made it very difficult to sleep as if I rolled over the join of the beds they would slide apart and I kept falling down the gap! If the website states "double" or "single" options you should actually get a double or single. 2. The view from our room wasn't great considering the price. We were right opposite offices on the 6th floor and they could easily see into our room. 3. The air con didn't work so we kept the window open the whole time (even throughout the night) the room was boiling despite it being December! 4. After a long day of shopping Saturday and hauling our bags to the top floor our room keys didn't work (we had 2 keys - neither worked) so had to make our way all the way back to reception to have them both fixed. 5. One of the lifts was broken for the entire weekend which was very hard given we were on the top floor and the lifts were only small so could get max 4 people in which meant a lot of time waiting around. 6. Finally - the parking! We parked in the ncp nearby as advised by hotel staff but it was so expensive! Cost us £46 for two nights with no discount offered by hotel like a lot of others do. It's such a shame as the staff are so lovely and it's a fab looking hotel. But the bad out weighed the good unfortunately. Collapse

just returned from a one night stay with my daughter, such a lovely hotel, beautiful décor, the restaurant and bar area was very comfortable and welcoming and their Christmas decorations were stunning, we had a twin room at the back of the hotel, lovely big room really comfy beds, not the best of views, but they did offer us a room at the front of the hotel but these were only double rooms, my daughter said she couldn't stick my snoring so we stuck to the twin room lol.The location was perfect overlooking the harbour and in walking distance to all the shopping areas, pubs and restaurants, we really enjoyed our stay in Bristol and especially enjoyed returning to the bar at the end of the evening , such friendly bar staff , will defiantly use this hotel again when I go back to Bristol Collapse
