Dissapointing and expensive hotel

Don't bother with a Privilege Room - not worth the extra

We stayed here over the weekend due to attending a wedding in the hotel. We opted for a privilege room as an extra treat, but it really wasn't worth the extra cost. Friends paid £99 for their classic room and we paid £162 for the privilege room which we booked within the same week. For the extra money there weren't many additional features, we only received a coffee machine with 3 coffee pods (this seems an odd number for a room that sleeps 2!), a solitary bag of crisps and a single kit kat. The room size was almost identical, it offered the same toiletries, but did have the addition of 2 very well worn dressing gowns, one of which had a stained sleeve. This was not at all worth over £60 and I wouldn't book this style of room again. The bed was comfy, although the bedding and towels did not feel as luxurious as some cheaper competitors. Service throughout the hotel was pleasant and welcoming, and the breakfast was good. Self service with a variety of cooked and continental options, there was also a selection of cook to order items, some of which carried an additional charge. We would stay here again, but would opt for the classic room in future as it offers much better value for money. Collapse

I myself & my husband arrived on the 16 th of December to have a wedding anniversary dinner, hotel lovely , but could not get into front entrance to reception as there was a wedding on. Could not get near the bar as it was so busy with wedding party and there was not a bar person on in the other bar too serve us. We opted to stay in the room with the two lovely bottles of complimentary wine . Then we went down for dinner, staff were great but I did have to ask twice for a drink which I waited 30 min for. Meal was not very hot but was warm enough to eat , unfortunately my friend was a bit tipsy but the rest of us were fine . My friend was going to his bed and the 3 of us were asking for another bottle of wine to take too our room to share. As it was still very busy with the wedding guests . The day manager called David who is manager of restaurant and beverages , told my husband that we could not have anymore wine as he was apparently drunk, I spoke to this young man along with my friend and explained that my husband has a stutter and was not drunk and he apologised , but unfortunately he refused us more wine for a further 30 min and then my husband goes into the bar and orders a drink and a bottle of wine and receives it . I myself was very upset with this young man and will not recommend again as his attitude was terrible after he recieved a £20 tip from my husband very upset and angry customer Collapse

We stayed here for two nights in December. It is just out of Aberdeen but it feels like it’s in the middle of no where (a good thing!). Plenty of parking. Stunning castle - looks absolutely perfect on a cold dark night with all the Christmas lights. A warm welcome was received when we arrived. Love the decor- the carpets are great and everything has been designed so well. Typical Scottish feel to it. Loads of meeting rooms. Our room was spacious. Comfy bed. Toiletries. Great shower. We struggled a bit getting the temperature right in the room just because it got so hot if the heater was on and then cold if it wasn’t on! But we were comfortable enough. I’d get another pillow as they are quite small and I like to be propped up. Great restaurant and venue for breakfast which is top notch. The bar is also great with bar snacks and an open fire! Lush! There is also a whiskey bar. In all we had a super stay and really enjoyed ourselves. We would certainly come again. Collapse

This was our 4th visit to Ardoe House but will be our last. The hotel was extremely cold when we arrived and when we went down to the dining room for dinner the temperature did not improve. We ordered dinner and along with the other guests complained about how cold it was. The waiter disappeared and came back with 1 small electric heater. It took 1 hour for dinner to arrive and mine was cold, totally unacceptable on both counts. Next morning we checked out but never got a copy of the bill because the printer was not working and to finish off a visit to forget the chap on reception forgot to tell us that the drive way out to the main road was closed. Breakfast was the only plus. Collapse

We joined Ardoe for the murder mystery on 01.12.18, and stayed over night. what a fun night it was! the actors were outstanding, and up for a laugh. Everyone had such a great night. We ended booking a room to stay over and were glad we did. Its not the first time we've stayed at Ardoe the rooms are always really clean and spacious. Were getting married here next year and when we told them they upgraded our room for free! They also left us a little sign at our table saying less than a year to go with the date of our wedding. Its the personal touches like this that made us pick Ardoe for our wedding in the first place, and the murder mystery night certainly did not make us regret our decision. Food was outstanding in the evening. And breakfast was perfect for the hangover, was nothing fancy a 'buffet' type but was exactly what we needed at the time. Collapse
