We absolutely love this hotel having stayed in it 5 times, and brought friends too. So it is with heavy heart that we report the food standard has fallen. In general, the 2017 food was not as healthy or fresh as it has been in the past. It felt like a new chef was in post and there wasnt much inspiration in the food offering. More fresh seafood please! The introduction of The Level has been a disaster in our view - it just drops the standard offered to the normal hotel guest. Those are the only two less-than-ideal experiences we had because the staff, the pool, the cleanliness, the hotel environment, the rooms, the views.... everything else is absolutely wonderful and we cant wait to go back (once they hire a new chef) Collapse

This is a long review, so I've broken it down into several titles so you can skip to what's relevant to you: LOCATION, HOTEL, FOOD, ENTERTAINMENT LOCATION: If you want real Spain, the area is not for you. Costa Adeje is mainly hotels but if you want a relaxing break it's ideal. Just down the road is a mall with shops that I could not afford to go in. A bit further on are the side streets with souvenirs, clothing and fake designer handbags. There are two nice beaches within walking distance. HOTEL: On first impression it doesn't stand out. The front entrance is on a busy corner and my heart sank. However, once inside you can see that it is a superb hotel. Beautiful views, gardens and waterfalls. Excellent facilities, food and bar at the pool, salon and spa (treatments are expensive but good), gym and activities. Our first room was overlooking a service area and we were woken at 4am by a bin lorry, glass recycling, deliveries, etc. I spoke to reception and we were moved straight away to a quieter area. Our room was clean, spacious and had a nice balcony. The majority of staff are friendly and helpful. For an additional 30 euros per person per night you can stay in The Level where you have a private pool and restaurant area. However, the pool is overlooked by the main restaurant and the facilities are so good, it really didn't warrant the additional cost. I have to say that check in was a long winded process. We were hungry, thirsty and desperate to get into the pool - it certainly needs a rethink and better system. If you have any mobility problems, this hotel is probably not for you. Its built on many levels. Although there are lifts, there are still a lot of steps. FOOD: We were all inclusive and it certainly was value for money. Another couple were bed and breakfast and in 3 days had spent 1000 euros on food and drink! OK, if you were there for two weeks the food could become repetitive but the choice and quality were excellent. Just about everything you can think of. At all meals, there are excellent quality fish or meat courses cooked in front of you to your specification. There is the main buffet, an Italian restaurant (you have to book in advance and we preferred the choice in the buffet), a bar and a poolside bar. There was continuous free food all day long. There's even a freezer with ice creams at the poolside bar and a fridge with water. ENTERTAINMENT: There were some cheesy singers most nights on the terrace but after a few sangria's it was quite pleasant. Each morning there is an activity such as yoga or pilates and also 3 evenings a week in the impressive Bell Tower which provides spectacular views. The usual kids clubs and an hour a day with aqua aerobics, etc. The entertainers are not too in your face. All in all a superb, clean hotel with excellent facilities. I would definitely recommend and like to go back. Collapse

Stayed 20th -27th Jan 2017 Having stayed in several other hotels in the resort this hotel has just about got it right for the guests. From the moment we arrived at reception we were greeted with a smile and a professional attitude to its guest from Victoria. Our room was a good size with TV showing several English channels, fridge with water and a well stocked bath room with lots of toiletries. It was very refreshing that the hotel did not make an additional charge for the room safe or the Wi-Fi which was excellent all through the hotel unlike some other hotels who think guest are fair game to be charged extra for basic modern facilities that you expect in a good hotel as part of your price. We dis have a couple of teething issues when we arrived in the room, the large wardrobe door not opening, the fridge nor working and a small flood in the toilet. As soon as we reported the issues the were fixed within the hour. The hotel is built on a hill side with well laid out gardens you do need to be fit to walk down to the pool and if you are in a wheel chair you would have to use the lifts or the sloping walk way at the back of the hotel which is quote steep. As keen swimmers were very disappointed that we only managed one short dip due to the pool being so cold and not heated as promised. As a qualified diver I have dived in the north sea with warmer water. The pool is a good size but is deep all around so you would have to watch any children, there is a small paddling pool for small children. A good bar at the pool serving hot and cold food with pleasant staff. The main bar on the 5th floor was very well stocked with a wide range of branded drinks. well done Melia for an island that has low taxes on alcohol the temptation for a lot of hotels is to serve the guest with cheap products. Again excellent service by all of the bar staff. Entertainment was in a small area on the patio outside the bar, this weeks entertainment varied from solo artist to trios who worked very hard to get people up to dance. The main restaurant could be a little noisy when full, a large choice od excellent food for all tastes a fish grill both in the lunch and evening serving different fish each day to your taste. The main grill cooking breakfast lunch and dinner was a big issue on the breakfast serving as it was placed in the centre of the hot plates dishes. The single cook was tying to fry eggs, pancakes and omelettes at the same time which resulted in most of the eggs being broken and thrown in the bin and guest having to queue either side of the grill blocking the serving dishes for the other guests. From our experience staying in other hotels this is a simple problem that should be address by the management. We made on visit to the Italian restaurant we found the menu a bit basic and service slow but overall a nice change. Through out the hotel all of the staff were very friendly and despite the pool enjoyed our stay and would return. Collapse

This was a great 3 night stay for my mum and I, although for my mum there were a lot of steps and a long walk to centre. We couldn't fault the hotel itself with all the staff we came across very helpful and polite. Not having tried this before, the level was a great addition to our stay. The hour or so where you can help yourself to drinks was a bit manic at times but not stressful. Breakfast was plentiful and the tapas with our drinks were a nice touch. We had a lovely view of the sea, room was spacious and comfortable. Collapse
