Staff are really not friendly - except house keeping who are always nice and at least smile. No idea how this place ended up with a 4 star. Its 3 star max! The rooms look nice but the walls are paper thin, its possible to hear people coughing or laughing (or generally having a good time) in rooms next to our as well as upstairs and downstairs, the bathroom looks nice but there are loose tiles in the floor, you can clearly hear when someone upstairs is having a shower because the drains in our room start 'gargling'. Almost impossible to sleep at night because of the noise in the hotel rooms. The pool area is tidy but there are parasols made from foldable sun visors normally used for car wind shields in the corner. Lots of cheap plastic chairs in the outdoors seating area that have been sponsored by beer companies / breweries. The 'pool guard' is a teenage girl sitting behind a plastic table on he grass, making sure nobody gets out of line. The place just feels cheap and old, a bit like Eastern Europe (Romania) in the early 90s. Breakfast buffet looked great but wifi is really slow and keeps cutting out! I have spent better nights at a Holiday Inn or Premier Inn. Collapse

The hotel is a half hour walk through the Turia riverbed gardens into the city centre. The start point being only a 5 minute walk from the hotel and next to the beautiful Valencia Science and Arts, which is well worth a visit. You can also get the number 35 bus from just across the street(on the other side of the road) which takes you straight into the city. If you get off at the stop just after the train station Nord you are right in the centre. The bus back returns from the same square. You can also get a bus to the beach from very nearby but we walked (about 45 minutes) you would need to check the number with reception. Check in was good with the receptionist very informative( a youngish man) and friendly too. The hotel is average but met our needs, except for the air conditioning in room 808 which had a horrendous smell of drains. We didn't complain though as we just left it off at night, but when we checked out we were not even asked how our stay had been, at which point we would have told them about the smell. I do find it strange when hotels do not ask for feedback from their guests and then find out what they think on TripAdvisor! The pool was really nice, but as others have said there are not many sun loungers for the size of the pool, but that didn't bother us, we just lay on the grass until one came free. The weather was beautiful for our 5 day stay(Sept 8-13) There were only a few children at the pool while we were there ( which others had complained about) but again no problem for us. The bar is not very inviting and is very dark. They do not have much choice either and I wasn't even able to get a glass of Cava, which in Spain seems odd. I could buy a bottle though?? Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and which served really lovely fresh orange juice. The pool doesn't open until half 10 which is a bit late for those who like a swim before breakfast/heading out for the day and which was was a shame on our departure day as we had planned a swim before heading for the airport. I appreciate there is no lifeguard until half 10, but surely we could swim at our own risk once the pool has been cleaned which is well before 10 thirty? The safe in the room is chargeable which is poor in my opinion. We didn't use it on principal! If you fancy a bite to eat and don't want to go into town the pizza bar across from the hotel, although not very salubrious served good thin crust pizzas and beer! The wifi in the room is free and very fast Overall a good hotel if you're happy to travel/ walk into town. A taxi back after a night out was 9 euros, so not bad at all and the bus which is very regular is 1.50 € each, or less if you buy 10 from the local tabac. We did the Free walk tour from Plaza Virgen, when you pay what you think it was worth at the end. (Booked on line) As Valencia is relatively small in the city centre the tour is more talk than walk, but very informative. We paid €10 each. The beach is very clean and the sea was lovely it was quiet while we were there as it was midweek and families were back at work/school. There are about 14 beach side restaurants too with good washroom facilities and showers along the front. You can hire bikes on the front too but make sure you have some photo ID with you as we hadn't taken ours so couldn't complete the contract paperwork, so we just walked We loved Valencia! Collapse

Just returned from our visit this afternoon. The location of the hotel was ideal for what we wanted. A short bus journey from a bus stop very close to the hotel took us to the old city in one direction and down to the beach in the other direction. The hotel was basic and didn't feel very luxurious, but it was comfortable and had all that we needed really As one of the other reviewers stated there seems to be groups of local children who turn up in the afternoons to use the pool facilities, which seemed a little unusual! It would also have been nice to have some chairs and a table on the balcony. The staff at the Reception were very polite and gave us good information about the bus services and local attractions. As suggested by them, We bought the card with ten bus journeys for about ten euros from a local tabac store and it was so easy to pop on and off the bus journeys as we wished. A great tip from the staff! Collapse

The only drawbacks are that that balcony doesn't have a working light and that the hotel appears to let locals use the pool (which can mean you have to use the grass as opposed to a sun lounger) Overall though, would highly recommend. The hotel looks okay if somewhat run down. The surrounding buildings don't help. It is built in an older but not so pittoresk part of the city. It had a big pool. But no luxury feel to it. The room was okay, clean, with an en suite, where the sofa had a pull out bed. It was small and hot. The airco worked fine though. And the beds were really comfortable. We woke up with bulging eyes though and a big headache. It just seemed like the airconditioning was not good. For the same price we could get a 5 star hotel, so we changed. The one we are in now is in a slightly better neighborhood, feels much more luxurious but the beds are far worse. Collapse
