We stayed at this hotel for two nights ( the booking was for three nights and as I will mention below, we was forced to change the room and check out earlier). We had both positive and negative experience with hotel which I will mention below: Positive: The location of hotel is outstanding and almost walking distance to everywhere. Negatives: We booked a traditional room with king size bed, and we were traveling with a youn child who would share the bed with us. on arrival, at reception the shift leader told us only kids below 2 years old can use the room and bed for free and if above 2 years, we are forced to change the room to triple room and pay additional fees. we respected the hotel's room, but then there was no triple room available for shoe period of our stay and we had to check out the hotel one day earlier. Also initial booking was made in basis of free cancellation, breakfast included reservation, when we checked in,we were forced to pay everything in advance! I asked why not to provide the hotel the credit card for security and pay at check out, the answer was because the room type has changed, you have to pay everything in advance ( which was not true ,I discussed the issue with the hotel's general manager and this rule and policy didn't exist.) Anyhow, the first day treatment and behavior from the staff in reception was definitely not friendly and professional ,but luckily the following day there were other staff at hotel which were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant for dining ( only for breakfast) but near to so many restaurants and coffee shops. breakfast was very very basic and not with lots of choices ( even if you want to order fried egg, it will be possible in additional cost and more than that like omelet can't be provided) House keeping was not the best, we had the some honey spilled on the table, following day after we left the room and theoretically the room was services, we found the same spots of honey ,untouched on the table. This hotel is centrally-located in Nice and is not very expensive taking into account other establishments available in the city. However, what you get what you pay for. I was given a room on the 4th floor overlooking Rue Gioffredo but as soon as I entered it I could tell it was going to be noisy from the traffic below. I returned to the reception and they gave me room 628 which overlooked the back of the hotel. In hindsight, it was even more fortuitous that I changed rooms because the Nice Carnival was taking place between 11 and 25 February which involved lots of displays and loud music going on until at least midnight in the nearby Place Massena and Promenade de Paillon. Moving to 628 wasn't without its problems though. The entrance to the room was partially obstructed by a desk which you had to navigate around with your luggage. In addition, I found out later during the first night that the wall between 628 and 627 was very thin. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. One feature of the room and I imagine this applies to all rooms in the hotel is the strange manner in which you use the safe deposit box. In almost all hotels I have used, it is necessary to insert a four-digit code to activate the device. This was not the case in this hotel. You had to insert the cardkey into a recess on the door of the box which then activated the locking mechanism. The only problem was that the cardkey also activated the electricity usage in the room and as soon as you removed it from its wall mount, the room was plunged into darkness when trying to use the safe deposit box at night time. The receptionist suggested that I use the light from my mobile phone so that I could see what I was doing. After a few failed attempts, I realised it was not worth the effort. The cardkey also de-activated all electricity in the room except for the minibar fridge so it was useless charging your mobile phone or iPad while out and about in the city or even at breakfast. The double bed was very comfortable, I wish though that there had been a duvet and fitted sheets. The housekeeping staff must have received training in hospital bed making because it certainly made it difficult to climb under the sheet at bedtime. The selection of TV channels was extensive and included BBC 1 and BBC 2. Furthermore, the TV had an audio facility allowing you to de-select the French dubbing on certain channels when a foreign film or programme was being shown. Breakfast included a very good selection catering for all tastes. It started at 06:30 and finished at 10:30, seven days a week. While the hotel advertises as having a bar, guests have to order drinks from the reception and drink them in the lobby area which reduces the atmosphere and appeal of using the bar. The hotel is at a great location for exploring Nice by foot and also by train as Nice-Ville train station is only a 20 minute walk away. However, I had an opportunity to look at other hotels in Nice in the same price range and there are better ones I would use on a subsequent visit to this city. Collapse

Breakfast is poor, kiwi and orange were cut already and became vey dry( 8 in the morning!!!) egg was cold, only porc no choice!!! The hotel was very warm, also the rooms. We had 2 rooms both very small, the Bathroom also, hardly couldnt move. The toilet was the worst ever, iT was so Tiny that you couldnt close the door while using!!!!! The room was clean but the carpet i Found old and was cool with spots!!! The staff was kind. For us an one time stay! Collapse

Arrived as a solo female traveller. Clearly they thought I wouldn't complain so placed me in what is probably a converted cupboard. Like a sauna and air con switched off centrally as it's winter. Bathroom a joke. Wifi reception poor (business trip so needed). Rang reception to say that I was unhappy and to point out that I had booked a room with a bath. She said she would only move me for 60Euro surcharge. I asked the receptionist for a refund and to check out. Refused. Told there was no manager in the hotel (7pm). Finally got shown to another room but this one connected with its neighbour with only a flimsy latch that didn't even fasten properly. Again, as a solo women I felt this was hardly safe. After much bargaining (even got my husband on the phone as his French is better than mine) got moved to another room. Still poky with no double bed, no bath and lots of road noise, but at least it's wasn't a sweatbox like the first. At this point I just gave up. Thoroughly pissed off with the whole experience. Expected more quality control from the Best Western brand. Would not stay again. Only positive is location. Collapse

At the end of January we had our choice of hotels to pick without reservation as it is certainly the low season. After visiting couple of other hotels we ended up at Hotel Massena and were met by a very professional, friendly and smiling Oceana, the receptionist. She gave us a spotless comfortable room with a large balcony and bathroom. We had a very nice stay and can highly recommend this hotel which has perfect location right at the centre of the city.
