I'm loyal to Marriott and generally prefer to stay at Marriotts over other hotels. The Good -There is a bike station right outside of the hotel with a convenient and beautiful bike trail that goes to the city. -Rooms are spacious and have plenty of storage. -The reception staff were helpful and talked us through using the bike share program. -The top floor of the hotel overlooks the Rhône River on one side and the Parc de la Tête d'Or on the other. The Not So Good -This is a massive complex designed for conferences and other large meetings. It didn't have an intimate feel at all. -The executive lounge did not have many offerings. We were told at check in that we could also eat in the restaurant using my Gold status. However, we tried to do this on our last morning, and were told we were not able to eat at the restaurant unless we paid. -The hotel is about 2 miles from the bridges crossing into the city. Taxis are not readily available so planning is a must. We had wonderful weather so the bike share program worked great, but if it had rained, we would have had to rethink our plans. -We took a cab one morning to meet a tour group, and with traffic, it took 45 minutes to get to our destination. In short, it is a nice hotel and I would probably stay there again, but would encourage Marriott to open a smaller hotel closer to the city center. Collapse

Take a coat! Very cold hotel. Aggressive air conditioning, very very slow lifts (even in non-peak period), poor breakfast selection and full payment and invoice issued upon check-in! Rooms are clean and modern but no character and feel very cold. The breakfast is poor considering the cost. The hotel looks nice and good location/parking. I expected the service in the restaurant area to be better. Staff are not generally very attentive and it all feels a bit unprofessional. Not up to standard overall. Collapse

We recently stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a touring holiday around France. We were fully aware that this was a business hotel. We had an executive room on the 5th floor which gave us access to the executive lounge. The room was the usual Marriot, good linen, lovely décor and a little outside balcony which was a plus, to look over the river in the evening with a glass of wine. The executive lounge was amazing. The breakfast absolutely superb in every respect, hot and cold food choices, beautifully presented with the option of eating outside on the terrace. THIS would you believe! was included in the price of the room. We then discovered to our delight that afternoon tea was also included so, after a lovely walk in the park which runs along the back of the hotel we decided to partake. It was delicious, high quality pastries and tea. Just when you didn't think things could get any better, they certainly did! In the evening we decided to go onto the terrace to enjoy a glass of wine. Whilst searching for a member of staff to enquire as to the cost of the wine, we were informed by a fellow guest that the beautifully laid out hors d'oeuvres and selections of both red and white wine, soft drinks and beer were all complimentary!!! During our stay we had both room service and ate in the hotel restaurant. Both experiences were excellent. Having eaten in a Michelin stared restaurant the night before which was a bitter disappointment at 3 times the price, the Zucca restaurant was far superior in both quality and presentation of the food. The building itself isn't the prettiest and the approach is a little austere, but this is a minor detail. Would we stay here again? Most definitely! Collapse

Stayed here for business meetings after spending some personal time in Vieux Lyon. So a bit of culture shock - the hotel is part of a conjoined stretch of buildings in Cite Internationale, next to a large urban park but away from stores, restaurants, neighbourhoods - the feeling is as others have said, large conference hotel that you'd find in any country, in or near a business park. There is a convenience store and restaurant onsite, as well as a theatre and other restaurants in the concourse area of the attached buildings. It's all a bit soul-less. However, the rooms are enormous, modern and well-equipped...very nice. I did wonder about the staff and service: we hosted a reception in their open atrium area and they failed to tell us that we'd be sharing the open space with a very loud (looked fun) Bar Mitzvah. Definitely strange although our business guests took it in stride. Stranger still was having another group of our business guests arrive at 8am for meetings, with the detritus of the party from the night before still lying all over the lobby - broken glass, spilled food, party decorations. Shouldn't this have been cleaned during the night? Would explore other options before committing to another stay here. Collapse
