We booked through booking.com a superior room with a view. The room was very nice (little tired in places) and comfortable. We were in the mews and our view was of the court yard. The hotel itself again was very nice and the staff were very friendly we ate in the Tempo Bar and the food was very good. We had paid for breakfast when we booked but when we came to check out found that we had been charged again, but this was swiftly sorted by the reception desk. All in all a very good relaxing weekend. Collapse

We arrived early and were allowed to use the swimming pool and spa immediately. The pool was a lovely temperature and the steam room, jacuzzi and sauna very clean and efficient. The seating around the pool was not very relaxing and there were only 3 loungers available (all of which had a towel reserving them and no-one using them)! The only downside to the leisure centre was the staining on the ceilings, which was very unsightly. Otherwise, highly recommended. We checked in at 4pm and walked for four minutes to get to our room. The room was pleasant enough - no better than a Travelodge. Unfortunately our view was of the car park. Went for a glass of wine in the bar and was a little disappointed by the small selection and the Malbec being a screw-top. Beautiful bar areas and the views were stunning. The grounds and golf course are truly beautiful, including a nature trail and a couple of walks around the land. Dinner was excellent and the service very good too. In particular, the cheese course was plentiful and varied. Same limited wine menu, but had a nice Rioja with the main and port with the cheese. I would definitely go back, so would recommend. Very pleasant rural location, but only five miles from the centre of Derby. However vehicle transport is required and there is ample car parking. Of course accommodation is available if needed. A range of rooms of differing sizes are available, some in the original building, others in the more modern pavilion to the rear. The range of snacks and lunch are exceptional for business events. All in all a very a superior experience, probably the best location in the Derby area for Corporate events. Collapse

I am sad to have to write this review, as we had our Wedding reception here in 2009 and did hold the hotel in very high regard. We booked a room for Friday 5th May as an extremely rare treat for our 6 year old Daughter; our Son is severely autistic with very complex medical issues and disabilities and so our Daughter gets very limited attention or uninterrupted time with Mummy and Daddy. I didn't mention this when booking as it's private - although staff were aware that my Daughter was on the booking as we discussed the extra bed. I presumed that the stay would be wonderful and to start with it was. We had a lovely evening swim and meal, staff in Tempo were fantastic. We were however put in a room right next to a main door...and by 1am the door was slamming and groups of men were shouting to each other loudly right outside our room. Given that we came to Breadsall Priory for a good night's sleep due to our Son's 24 hour care needs, this was so very frustrating. Our Daughter was scared and restless from 1am to 3am. We had another lovely swim in the morning and I mentioned my concerns about putting a child in that room to the receptionist on the way out, but I was met with a very defensive and cold attitude. Apparently I should have dressed my Daughter at 1am, packed and asked to move rooms. I was in tears making this complaint face to face and I wasn't doing it for a refund or any compensation, but it was obvious that the receptionist thought I was. She took my email address and said that a manager would be in touch. After a week there was no email so I contacted customer care, and after 5 days with no response from them I chased it up again only to receive a generic, borderline rude response from housekeeping. I feel totally let down and sad that such a lovely hotel would treat us in this way, my Daughter loved the pool and room but we went home more tired than when we'd gone, and it took such planning to arrange respite care for our Son for that night. What could have been magical for my Daughter was sadly anything but. However it is the uncaring, cold treatment from front desk and housekeeping which has put me off for life. Collapse

Original course great. Moorland Course a bit bland. Just be aware the original course is very long and hilly so take your buggy. Hotel facilities excellent. Leisure facilities likewise Good venue for dinner or golf break.
