We booked this tranquil spa location for a relaxing Easter weekend in an idilic period property expecting old world charm and accommodation. This however was not the case. Whilst the staff, food, spa treatments were first class we expected to stay in the " Priory" what we ended up in, albeit comfortable and clean and tasteful was a room in the "country club" this is an annex building around the back of the idilic priory building next to the country golf club! Now there was no mention or views of this building on the website at all. If we had known we wouldn't be staying in the actual priory we certainly would not have booked. When I did make a complaint they said the booking was for the "country club" room and we should have booked a "priory room"! Again there was no mention of any differences at booking also with there being no pictures of said annex on the site I proceeded albeit my fault for not trebly checking afore hand. It was the only blot on what was a first class stay so be aware when you book and of it's not the "golf annex" you want and a stay in the priory state a PRIORY ROOM, ps: the room we stayed in had disabled facilities too, like I said good but no cigar ! booked in for an overnight stay with my husband for his birthday. once checked in we had great difficulty actually working out how to get in the accommodation from the carpark. then had to negotiate numerous flights of steps to gt to our room. clean room. tv did not work properly but lovely man from concierge rectified the matter. had dinner in the priory resteraunt. nobody on desk to greet us. then we made up a total of 4 small tables of diners. very slow service...God knows how as it wasn't busy at all. only had starter and main as neither of us fancied any of the small choice of desserts. waited longer than should have for plates to be cleared and for the bill. when it came to sleeping...our room was really cold. the bed was extremely extremely soft and bumpy. the bed only had 1 pillow each and 1 cushion....both very very soft. no spares or blankets in the room. we both had a very poor nights sleep and left feeling rather grumpy and untested. a shame as the grounds were nice and the old part of the hall was full of character. I'm afraid I cannot recommend. Collapse

Arriving at Breadsall the scenery is breath taking we were very excited to see where we would be staying , we went to reception to pick up the room key as we had already checked in on the app. Our room was right around the back so we moved the car to the back of the building. Once finding the right building there were a few different flights of stairs it is like a maze ! Adds to the character of the building. To be honest the room disappointed me a little bit I expect more luxury as we were staying in a superior room however it was clean and comfortable I guess you pay for the surroundings. We ate in the tempo cafe bar for our evening meal it was very quiet with a nice relaxing atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the food was very nice. Some people seemed to be served at there table where as we were told to go to the bar to order food and drinks. We had booked a spa day for our second day of the visit and I feel we were extremely let down. We had been out for breakfast in the morning and when we arrived back we tried to check into the spa at the leisure desk to be told to the spa was in another building, we went to the other building reception was closed, I tried to ring the number no answer, we then went to main reception to be told go back to leisure , we went back to leisure they said we had no booking at all (it had been booked months prior to our visit ) we were told spa were on lunch to wait until after 12 ( around 20 mins at this point) we went and sat in the bar. The receptionist came to tell us he had found our booking and to go to the spa to check in. We went back and reception was still closed , I rang them again no answer , back to leisure ... we were going to cancel our reservation and leave to end our stay at Breadsall but luckily there was a different member of staff who sprung into action gave us towels and showed us around the facilities we then got around 45 mins to use the pool etc so had wasted more than an hour being messed about very frustrating and not a very relaxing spa day. When we eventually checked into the spa the treatment were lovely and we really enjoyed our time there just a shame it was a bad start to the day. Also I hadn't noticed anywhere in my booking that the hotel take a £50 retainer from your bank for the room which I'm told we be returned after 5-10 days . Collapse

My spa day with my daughter was a Christmas present for me and included all spa facilities, gym, a glass of champagne and a 45 minute back massage and mini facial. The pool, steam room and sauna were all good though the area is rather small and the number of loungers was limited, there were chairs but not as relaxing as loungers. The service, food and drink throughout the day were very good. Our treatments were booked towards the end of the day, my daughters at 4.30 and mine at 5.15, there was a relaxation room to use prior to and after our treatments which provided comfortable loungers, water and herbal teas. The treatments were very relaxing but my one complaint was after I had my 45 minute treatment at 5.15 I was told that they closed at 6pm so I could not relax after my treatment which was a shame, maybe they should alter appointment times accordingly. Overall a lovely place and an enjoyable day. Collapse

My partner and I enjoyed a spa day which included a 25 minute treatment each. The hotel grounds are beautiful and impressive on arrival. The spa (leisure facilities) were clean and all spa staff were polite and friendly. The changing rooms were spotless and being repeatedly cleaned throughout the day. We visited mid week and it was not very busy, which made for a nice relaxing atmosphere. There are only 4 sun loungers and some other pool side seats available. There is a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. I think this experience would be improved if you could get a drink whilst enjoying the facilities. There was only a water fountain - any other drinks you'd have to get dressed, order at the bar and drink there. I understand they do not allow glass near the pool but being able to enjoy a coffee or drink in a plastic cup would have been nice. We ate lunch at the tempo bar. They do not provide robes and so you have to get dressed for lunch. We were disappointed - our sandwiches were about £7-8, chips about £3 and they were very average. Because we'd made the effort to get dressed, I wish we'd travelled down the road to another hotel/golf club that does amazing food for a similar price!! My treatments (facial and back massage) were both wonderful! Before my treatment, I was directed to the relaxation room to spend 10 mins. The room was lovely but had not been tidied up after previous customers - no clean cups/glasses and no hot water so I could not make myself a drink. Radio was playing loudly. Just lacking attention to detail really. Overall, we had a really lovely, relaxing day here and would consider returning for the right price! Collapse
