If you are looking to experience all that Marrakech has to offer, then the Riad Star has everything you could want. Me and my Wife booked a four night stay here looking to immerse ourselves in the tradition and culture the city has to offer. From arriving and being greeted by warm and friendly staff that at all times of the day cannot do enough for you to helping to arrange excursions and meals out we were never disappointed. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped. The Riad is perfectly placed to get access to some of the best food in Marrakech and the Souks are just a couple of minutes walk away. Your enjoyment and safety comes first with the staff at the Riad Star, they equipped us with a mobile phone that at any time me could call them on and they would come and find us, its a small thing but made us feel like we could just walk and walk and never worry about how to get back. A final note about the Riad Star. When you arrive you will be welcomed by Aziz, he is always there, he is always on duty with a smile on his face and an eagerness to please (wish we could take him to all the hotels we travel to). Having travelled to many hotels around the world it is the staff who make the difference in you stay and he and his colleagues certainly did. We hope everyone has as much fun as we did. Book with confidence this is an absolute gem. Collapse

My friend and I took a girl's trip to Marrakech and stayed in this gem tucked away in the center of Marrakech's old city. I cannot say enough good things about this Riad and would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone traveling to this place. The Riad staff were overwhelmingly accommodating! As girls traveling to a new place, this Riad was perfect! Aziz, one of the hotel staff, sat with us for hours reviewing maps of the city, sharing the culture of this place, and recommending things for us to do. Aziz stayed up until we were back at the Riad, provided us with a cell phone, and even showed us the Riad's app which helped us navigate the city. We were greeted with a kettle of tea, had relaxing massages, and ate a traditional Moroccan style meal on our first day. The staff helped us arrange transportation and escorted us to our transportation, when needed. They answer all of our many (many, many, many) questions and met our every need. The location of the Riad was another great feature. It was walking distance to many great restaurants, Jemma el-Fna and many Souks. Although we were enmeshed in the heart of the city, the Riad provided a quite getaway from all the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was provided everyone morning with freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit from the market, and eggs made to order. Our room was clean, beautifully decorated, and well equipped with a rain shower. The rooftop terrace overlooked the Atlas mountains and had beautiful views of the city. You couldn't pick a better place to stay! Collapse

i have visited Marrakech many times before but never had an experience like this one. This riad exceeded all our expectations! the interiors were simply beautiful as were the rooms. From the moment we arrived to Marrakech to the day we left, the staff were SOOO HELPFUL! They made our stay at the riad so special. The staff would meet us as soon as we got out the taxi and walk us back to the riad and also escort us if we were going anywhere. We felt so safe! They lended us a phone we used throughout the trip so we could contact them if we got lost. Aziz went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. He made some good restaurent reccomendations and also taught us how to make proper mint tea. We also had a cooking lesson with Khalifa which we thoroughly enjoyed - it was a good laugh and it ended with yummy food :) I personally enjoyed dressing up in Josephine Bakers clothes and hats !! It was my cousins birthday and Abdou the manager organised a cake for her which was very sweet. The hotel is well located - the souks and the square are within walking distance. The wifi was fast too. There is also an ap to download and that was extremely helpful when getting lost around the souks. It made finding everything a lot easier and also had some great recommendations on there. What really makes this riad so special is the staff especially Aziz ad Abdou. Thank you for everything! We will be back!! Collapse

As a group of 11 ladies, celebrating 2 milestone birthdays, we initially booked 2 suites Ebony and Ivory..but as a wonderful surprise by the Riad Star, our birthday girls were given their own suite on arrival. All our rooms were of very good size, very clean, and well equipped...for anything else ie additional hangers, bed covers..the staff were very attentive. We utilised the terrace, sitting in the sunshine, sipping our duty free, listening to prayer call and watching the sun go down. All very magical of Marrakesh. One evening we sta on the terrace, the outside fire was lit and we sat cosy chatting. It is noteworthy that there are several stairs to climb, winding and narrow, to get to the terraces. But lovely cosy areas to rest when you get there. We chose the Riad based on location and other reviews, and was not disappointed. The RIAD is ideally positioned in the Medina, making everything a walking distance. But be warned the medina is big, with winding narrow streets (alleys) leading you in every direction through the Souks. The souks were an eye opening experience, seeing everything possible from usual gifts of spices, pottery, and leather goods; to butchers, bread makers, street entertainers and donkeys about their daily grafting. The sights and sounds of this place are almost unreal. Very culturally eye opening. As 11 western ladies, we definitely stood out in the crowds, and were welcomed in most places. Be warned in the medina you WILL get lost. This is an ideal opportunity for local lads to guide you home. They seem to come from nowhere and are very persistent, and of course this offer comes at a financial cost!! so be firm. Our Riad staff provided us a phone, gave us a map and as appropriate accompanied us to specific local places ie museum and spice shop. We arranged a couple of excursions including horse and carriage, which was a great way to see other places of interest ie Yves Saint Laurent Jardin Majorelle, the Casbah and museum. Our staff arranged this and escorted us to the transport meeting point. We also ate at the Comptoir Darna restuarant in Gueliz, very nice indeed. Great food, entertainment and then upstairs to the bar and dancing into the early hours (if you wanted to) Again booking and transport arrangements via our staff. Overall our stay at the Riad Star was fantastic, we were made so welcome and well looked after by the staff. arrakesh Medina was a great adventure. Collapse

We are a group of 11 ladies who have just today returned from a long weekend at the Riad Star. We had never been to Morroco before and had no idea what to expect. Arriving at the Riad was...to say the least...a major culture shock! The Riad is situated in the medina....a maze of dimly lit alleyways. When we arrived in our minibus from the airport, the alleys are too small for vehicles, therefore we were dropped on a wider alley, and met by the Riad staff, who accompanied us down a few alleys to the Riad. You step into the Riad through a large door in the wall...and it is quite difficult to describe how different it is compared to what is outside the front doort. The hallway and corridors are lit by the most beautiful morrocan lamps, casting golden glow onto the intricately plastered walls, most of which are white or terracotta. There is a small dipping pool in the centre of the Riad, which has an open air roof. The pool is lit by candles in the evening and scattered with rose petals. Beautiful. ~The small dining area has plush velvet chairs and cushions, and the room is like a museum to the French cabaret artist, Josephine Baker who lived there....and it is possible to try on her dresses and headdresses which are hanging up on a rack in there. Our Bedrooms where the Ivory suite, the Ebony suite and the Jazz Room. All rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated with flat screen tvs, safe boxes and mini fridges. The two suites are situated in their own part of the riad, with their own roof terrace.....perfect for chilling in the afternoon with your duty frees!!! The Riad do not sell alcohol...therefore we did take our own, and if we required tonic water or coke or any other kind of soft drink the boys....Aziz and Nazim (I think I am right with names!!???) would happily go to the local shops and purchase these for us. On the subject of the boys, we can honestly say that without them our holiday would not have been the same. They did absolutely everything for us....telling us to treat the Riad like it was our home....making drinks for us at any time of day, shopping for us, arranging taxis for us....but most importantly, giving us security by accompanying us in the medina whenever we wanted to go somewhere. Without them we would have been completely lost...and being women on our own, we did feel slightly intimidated in the dark alleyways. They walked with us wherever we wanted to go, making sure that we were safe at all times, and when we returned from restaurants, they would come and meet us off our taxi. They arranged horse and carriage tours for us too, which were great fun and well worth it. On our last night, Aziz lit the fire on the roof terrace, brought us strawberries and ice for our drinks, and sat chatting with us telling us all about his family and life. He really did make our stay complete!! I would not hesitate to return to the Riad Star, and can honestly say that the experience was unforgettable. My one and only negative would be to say that due to the structure of the building, noise does travel.....and it is quite difficult as a group of 11, to try and keep quiet! We do hope that we did not disturb anybody, and once again, thank Aziz and the boys for making our stay so memorable. Collapse
