My family of four recently stayed at Marlin Apartments, Empire Square over the Christmas holiday. We were very pleased with our 2-bedroom apartment. I don't think we would have found anything as nice or with as much space for the same price anywhere in London. The location was excellent, very close to three Tube stops, which made it very easy to get around the city. Also, there was a Tesco's (grocery store) just a few steps away, so we could save some money by eating in when we wanted. (I was even able to put together a passable Christmas dinner from there!) The bathrooms were not fussy, but functional. The kitchen was good sized, with full sized appliances and a eat-in dining area. The kitchen also had a washer/dryer combo (one unit), but very small by American standards...good for washing small loads of "personal" items. There is also a dishwasher. The living room was nice, with plenty of seating and tv with lots of channels if you have down time. There was also a DVD player - I had called ahead to inquire about this, so I could bring some DVD's for Christmas day; unfortunately, it would not play our "American" DVD's - not a big deal, just something to be aware of. A few minor drawbacks - the staff did not seem overly friendly or helpful. We found this out most importantly on our last day, when the car service showed up to take us to the airport - he came in to let us know he was there, only to be told by the desk staff that they would contact us, which they never did. This led to a slight delay as we waited for our driver, who was waiting for us outside. Also, and this may be really picky, when I stopped by the front desk to ask about getting more shampoo for the bathrooms, I was told rather curtly that this is only provided on check-in and not for the duration of the stay. If I had known this from the start, I would have purchased some; the desk staff person said he could look in the back to see if they had any on hand, which they did. It seemed a lot of attitude (and a little embarrassing) for an item that mostly likely costs 25 cents. And while we had requested "a view", our view was of a ground level, common garden area. In the end though, I would stay there again and would recommend. Collapse

I always look at Marlin when it comes to visits in London. I find booking an apartment a lot better than a hotel for just because I have more living space compared to a box room a hotel can offer for similar price! The room had everything I needed and everything was clean and tidy. The hallways was slightly messy but it's a part rented / owned apartment block so I'm not going to complain. Think people forget about this when they make reviews and assume this is a hotel. It isn't, it's an apartment rental! Apartment 165 was lovely with a good view! Will 100% stay again if I'm coming back to London. Collapse

My family of 4 stayed at the Marlin over Christmas and Boxing Day. The first apartment we were given was ok but not a great view. After my husband complained we were given a corner room on the 5th floor with a great view so it paid to ask for better. Not sure why we weren't given the better room in the first place because the price was the same. The hotel seemed mostly empty. The apartment is very nice but what is up with the bathrooms at these apartment hotels? None of them provide a face cloth. Also none of the showers have a built in shelf to hold your toiletries or soap so it's just down on the floor of the shower with all the suds. And no soap or shampoos were provided in the bathrooms. Ladies forget about blow drying your hair in the bathroom because there is only one outlet and that is for a man's shaver. This hotel is brand new but apparently the bathrooms were not designed with women in mind. Collapse
