These apartments are 5-10 minutes walk to London Bridge station, Borough Markets, The Shard and the South Bank generally. A very good location from which to explore London. I chose this apartment as they offer an advance booking discount, which gives you a 1 bedroom apartment for less than a smart hotel room in the West End. It depends on your trip, if you wanted to see a show in the West End, it's GBP15 in a taxi to get back in the evening. I wanted to explore the City of London, walk the South Bank, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, Liverpool Street, Broadgate, St Paul's & the Tate Modern. For a longer stay, having the separate bedroom is great, a lounge with a dining table, plus free wi-fi which allows you to spread out and plan you trips and visits to attractions, rather than having to sit on the bed. I think Sky was GBP10 per day if you wanted to catch up on sport or keep the little ones busy with a movie. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and everything you need, plus a big fridge, and Sainsburys supermarket is literally next door to the entrance. So ideal if you want to keep to a budget or have over-indulged in meals out. The check-in time is 3pm, however I arrived at 10am, I had previously agreed to leave my bags for the day at reception whilst I explored London. My apartment was already vacant, so I was given the option of getting in early for GBP30, which I thought was a reasonable price, and so I was able to dump my stuff and have a shower before I left. Plus it meant my valuables were locked in the room rather than being on reception for a day. A few maintenance niggles, but the concierge popped up and fixed most of them. It's always a trade-off, space & budget price versus top of the range room. I liked the independence of the apartments, although the area feels a little bleak if you're not familiar with the area. Plus it's November, overcast and freezing cold, I turned the heating on which worked well. It's very well located and easily accessible on foot, so that makes the difference. Collapse

I have spent months organising my best friends hen do. I booked three 2 bedroom apartments with Marlin Apartments, London Bridge. I emailed them 3 days before the event to confirm the booking and check there were no last minute problems. I was assured it was all ok. The day before we were due to stay, while I was supposed to be having a nice lunch with the bride to be I received several calls and a frantic voicemail from their head office. I had to make an excuse to the bride and dash out to ring them back. I was told that my apartments weren't available and offered lots of smaller apartments instead or accommodation miles away in another apartment. I spent the whole afternoon incredibly stressed while I tried to get it sorted out. Eventually I ended up with one 2 bedroom apartment and lots of 1 bed apartments. On the day of the hen I couldn't enjoy our spa visit because I was so worried something else would go wrong with the accommodation. Following the double booking fiasco I rang the head office on the day to ask them to let the London Bridge reception know I was on my way over to check in and to make sure everything was ready. The woman I spoke to refused to ring them after I asked several times. She laughed and told me everything was fine. It wasn't fine. I arrived at c.2 pm and the big apartment wasn't ready. Despite the fact I had paid £30 for early check in and I confirmed the day before that this would apply to the big room. The reception hurriedly tried to sort something out. They told me the room was ready so I went to drop the bags off and there were cleaners cleaning the room and it was filthy. I checked the other rooms that were supposedly ready and there were cleaning products, rubbish and dirty towels in one room. I had to pay 200 deposit per room. When I originally booked the three apartments this was 600 and I expected that but because I had been changed to 5 rooms it was 1,000! When I came to pay the 1,000 pounds I was so stressed out I forgot my pin number and blocked my credit card. My boyfriend had to transfer the money to me. At no time was I informed this can take 3-10 days to go back into my account which I have subsequently found out. The towels in the room stank of smoke which was very unpleasant when we had showers, the rooms were also smelly and not properly clean, the hallways were dirty and stank of smoke. The reception stank of BO. All in all it was a shambles. Don't stay here if you have an important event. They are not reliable and it will cause you more stress in the long run. Collapse
Poor Upkeep- Terrible value for my money

There are too many down sides: 1. There is no concierge staff- I had lots of luggage and due to distant parking of the taxi, I faced great difficulty in lugging all my luggage not just to the entrance lobby but also all the way to my apartment, all by myself, over multiple trips. 2. There is no option to choose the kind of / direction of the apartment while booking. So i was given the apartment in East wing and the apartment was a LONG walk from the reception (with just a street view). This could have been avoided, if only they offered a choice upfront 3. There is no drinking water bottle offered in the apartment. Not even on a paid basis. 4. The apartment and the corridors were smelly (of cigarette) and the carpets were dirty. 5. The cutlery and crockery was dirty and mismatched (i.e., they didn't seem to belong to a set, but were motley collection of different shapes/ shine etc.) 6. The kitchen sink was a circular deep steel bowl- acceptable for a bathroom wash-basin but not appropriate for kitchen use 7. There was no running hot water supply in the kitchen tap 8. Bathroom shower had no markings of hot/cold direction and there was neither an overhead shower nor a hand shower- just a fixed spot- making the shower inconvenient 9. There were no hooks/ rails to hand towels/ clothes near the bath tub- making it inconvenient 10. There was no shower gel or a soap provided- I had to go the Tesco nearby to buy my own 11. There was no safe locker in the apartment 12. The mattress was a poor quality metal spring type- making it difficult to sleep comfortably. The pillows were too beaten up and seemed 'dead'(i.e., totally flat and had to use several to bring it to an acceptable height). The bed linen, quilt cover and the pillow covers were limp and not crisp at all 13. There was no writing desk anywhere in the apartment. 14. They still give a bunch of metal keys for opening the apartment entrance door, instead of more convenient key cards 15. The TV and Set-top box remotes were very 'sleepy'and contained almost dead batteries- making it very challenging and frustrating to operate 16. The coffee powder in the apartment kitchen was an expired one. Over all, poor value of money. Collapse

I have spent 3 nights in the Marlin apartments empire square. The apartment is very well located and the furnishing is also fine. But there was no functional toilet in the room! the toilet flush was broken. They told us that there is no other room available but they would send somebody to fix it the next day. Nobody came and this continued for our whole stay! We were asking if somebody comes and they were answering that tomorrow somebody will come! In the evening of the 2nd day and only after I went again to the reception to say that nobody had come, they offered to change room but till then we had unpacked all our staff (as they had made it clear the previous day that there is no room available for changing!!) and to re-pack was not an option as my husband had health issues. When I asked for a reduction based on the fact 200 euro/night was way too expensive for a room without toilet and actually I would never choose to stay in a place under these conditions, I got a reply saying that they are sorry, they belive that they offered a change of room even at the end of our stay and they wish to have more luck next time we book one of their apartments!!!!! I would never dare to risk again booking one of their apartments! Collapse
