So where do I start??. We found the apartment online a few month ago and booked it as it was a good location as a friend was running the London Marathon during our stay. Silly us didn't read reviews before booking... big mistake. We had 2 party's and 2 rooms, pretty simple. Check in was 15.00. We arrived at 14.50 to a very small, over crowded reception with no seating while waiting to be seen, so we had to stand and observe the receptionist mess up the family in fronts check in and nicely upgrading a 2 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom apartment (or clearly got the booking room), that was a good first impression. When it finally came to us checking in at 15.15 the receptionist seemed like she really didn't have a clue what she was doing. They wanted £1000 deposit for the 2 rooms we had booked which was absolutely ridiculous... finally managed to get it down to a £500 deposit for both rooms. 1 room being a 1 bedroom apartment and the other being a 2 bedroom apartment. We were then told our 2 bedroom apartment was not ready yet and was asked to wait in the 1 bedroom apartment until it had been finished cleaning... not ideal after traveling because we all just wanted to lay down for a little while. When we arrived to the 1 bedroom apartment which was in fact a 1 bedroom very small studio apartment there was 1 double bed and 2 uncomfortable chairs for us to wait on... there was 6 of us so resulted in 2 people having to sit on a very uncomfortable floor. We then had a little look around and after pulling the duvet back on the bed and finding loads of long hairs we were a bit wary of pulling the sheet of the mattress to then find loads or urine stains. We then checked the bathroom to find urine in toilet that had not been used by any of us. After waiting nearly 40 minutes in this very small room we phoned down to reception to see if our room was ready. The receptionist who had seen to us on arrival had finished shift and not passed on the message that we were waiting for our room still. So we had to explain to the new receptionist what was happening and he was also very un-helpful, said he would phone us back in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later still not phone call, so we phone back to be told "I said I would ring you back" so we hung up and waited for another 10 minutes, extremely fed up at this point we then phone up again to speak to yet another receptionists who had no idea what's going on and sends the supervisor to our room (which should of been done on the first place). He then took another 15 minutes to come up. Once he arrived he checked the bed and bathroom and said he is very sorry for what has happened and that we shouldn't be waiting this long over our check in time and shouldn't be waiting on the floor. He then left for a while and came back with 2 keys, upgraded the 1 bedroom studio to an actual apartment and finally gave us the key to our 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment itself was not to bad but needed some work. No point having 2 showers in your apartment as you can only use 1 at a time otherwise no hot water, the sinks don't drain water properly and mould in the shower. The supervisor had assured us he had personally checked the room himself so everything should be ok. After finally getting to dinner (having to miss our dinner reservations due to our room being late and having to opt for dinner at a pub instead) we were very tired and decided to get an early night. Yeah, don't count on it. 11pm-1.30am and there was so much noise everywhere, people running and playing music in the hallways, opening and slamming doors, banging etc... The beds are very uncomfortable and you might as well not have any pillows with what they provide for you. Oh, and always check the bedside drawers because even though the supervisor assured us he had checked everything himself we were delighted to find used Condom wrapped in the bed side drawer. Once we was up and ready in the morning, leaving our apartment we were greeted with a disgusting smell in the hallways and LOADS of rubbish spread everywhere, like someone had emptied a bin all over the floor, It was disgusting. Dirty laundry left in the corner which was their when we arrived. The whole situation was so unprofessional, no communication between staff and what seemed to be no one really knowing what they were doing. The only apology we got was from the supervisor, the receptionist we spoke to really could not of cared less. We got offered nothing for our terrible stay and they weren't exactly happy about giving us the email to send our complaints to. The only good thing about the apartment was the location, it wasn't great but it's the nicest thing I can say. Hopefully they stick to their word and reply and have a solution to the complaint email that will be getting sent out. I really would not recommended this place for anybody. Collapse

I hired the Penthouse Apartment this weekend (ask for apartment 42 if your looking for a penthouse apartment) and I am extremely pleased with my stay. The breakdown.... Staff: The staff at Merlin went over and beyond what I would say is their call of duty to accommodate us and would like to give them a big thank you for all their help during a very busy time (London Marathon). Value: Excellent value for money. Their are very few places you can hire a Penthouse with views and a good standard of property for under £500. Parking: I stayed on a Saturday and found spaces to park (For Free) Directly outside the apartments. The Apartment itself: I would say the apartment is a 4*, clean and gives you everything you would expect from a 4*. Our apartment had great views of London and a huge balcony. Location: In the heart of Canary Wharf and no more than 2 minutes walk away from the train station which I drove past. Local shops at the end of the road. Central Canary Wharf just a stones throw away so absolutely everything you need. We did look at a number of other apartments including a one bedroom and a one bedroom exec. Depending on your needs hiring a penthouse may not be required but the other rooms are of equal standard and thus I would recommend you stay here. Collapse

A really bad experience for my relatives who came to visit me in London. We made the booking 2 months before their arrival date. I came to check the area on the 7th of February I wasn't able to see the apartments. We went to Canary wharf Marlin apartment to check in on the 15 of April and we found out we've been relocate for no reasons in Marlin Limehouse. I called on Friday 14th of April to see if my relatives can have an early booking without any positive answer as it was apparently fully booked . The booking service is really bad. They charged you the full amount on the day of your booking and they relocate you without any notification on your check in day. It's a really poor customer service. They don't even offer any compensation or commercial gesture for the inconvenience if you don't argue with the staff and show your depreciation. They just follow the standard procedure regarding fees and deposit. My next time is to contact the head office and the management in charge of Marlin apartment Canary Wharf for their mistake. I didn't appreciate the fact they can fool customers with their overbooking system and maintenance problems. The management only replies to the good feedbacks Collapse
