Stayed here for an unplanned London vacation recently and found it to be a great alternative to a hotel especially for an extended stay (we were here for 12 days). Our accommodation was a one bedroom apartment with a separate fully equipped kitchen which meant we could cook the occasional meal instead of having to eat out every night. There was also a washing machine and dryer which added to the convenience. East Aldgate is a suburb undergoing a transformation from the old and offers a plethora of restaurants and supermarkets. In addition it is very close to the tube and Brick lane markets. The apartment offered great value for money especially when compared to hotel options in the area. All in all a very viable alternative especially for an extended stay in London. Collapse

Nice and clean apartment in close proximity of insurance business district. Whilst the apartment is not luxury, it provides enough space, has wireless connection and old household appliances needed, such as fridge, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. For fresh air the windows can be opened as well. Also it is a quite location. Collapse

This place is a great alternative to a Hotel and on the Eastern Edge of what I would call Central London, right near the Aldgate East Tube Station. I was here for 2 weeks, the first for holiday and the 2nd for Work, as my Company's London office was about 2 blocks away, so was very convenient to me for work, but also for getting out and about anywhere due to proximity to Tube and a Santander Cycle rack nearby. Easy walk to Old Spitalfield Markets, Brick Lane, Shoreditch, Tower Bridge/Tower of london. Also on top of a reasonably well stocked convenience store. Much better than a London Hotel room, which are typically small and old...this place is probably under 10 years old, had a decent sized bedroom, bathroom, loungeroom and Kitchen with all facilities and washing machine. I always get my company's travel agent to book accomodation with a Kitchen and Washing Machine if I'm away 2 weeks or more. Was so much better than a hotel, that my work Colleague from Florida, who was booked in a nearby Travel lodge, came over to do a load of washing and then cancelled his Travel lodge and booked his last few nights in at this place. Warning that the apartments are in two blocks. The one on the western side is sort of nearby a Pub, so on a Friday and Saturday night when the pub is busy and people are outside, the noise travels and can be a bit intrusive in the quiet of the night. My colleague had a bit of noise for one night, but I was in the eastern tower and slept with open windows with minimal noise. The apartment may have had views of tower bridge when it was built, but there is a massive new residential development being built behind it, so you'll soon only have views of other apartment blocks. A couple of issues that I had, that may very well be isolated to my stay were: - Carpet in bedroom of my apartment had big black stains on it - The block has a no party policy, but we had one night where some kids staying in the apartment next door were out in the corridor arguing sporadically between 2:30 and 5:30am. I complained the next morning, but they were only there for one night and the reception staff sad I should have rung them in the night. It was hard to judge when you are exhausted through the door peephole what we were dealing with and whether they were high and could possibly be dangerous...there were lots of small nitrous oxide cartridges in the hallway and lift the next morning. - one of the lifts broke down a couple of times and on another occasion had no interior lights, and a third occasion, the lift call button on floors above the 9th stopped working, so I walked down from the 12th, not knowing that I only had to go to the 9th to call it. As I said, these all could have potentially been isolated incidents. Another issue that irked my travel agent and company was that whilst I understood that I had to pay my personal booking up front, the business component was debited from my corporate card two weeks before my business visit. This caused 2 issues, the first being that i had no receipt to put through on my corporate card claim,As it was well before I checked in and the second was that, as with most business trips, things change and I had to call off the last week, so I then had to contact Marlin Management to arrange a credit and accompanying credit statement for my corporate card...they may need to clean up their act on business bookings booked through agents a bit, but for my personal stay, I got a decent discounted rate by paying the full amount up front, which i was happy with. Would I stay here again?...definitely for work purposes, and based upon value for money and size of rooms where I've stayed previously in London, probably for personal holidays as well. Collapse
