I was reluctant to stay here having read most of the reviews. I was confident our holiday would be a disaster .. Days before departure I considered cancelling and getting a new hotel. We chose to just stick with what we had and hope for the best and it was just that .. Perfect for us! The staff were so friendly .. Especially the gentleman on reception, the cleaners were SO pleasant .. We took a standard room and were lucky to have a partial sea view. (I can see people's frustrations though to find your room facing inward or basement like area). Upon arrival the room was not ready, we arrived at 11am. This would be the same in any hotel. Check in is 2! We strolled to a cafe on the street for a glass of wine :) We opted for room only. We didn't eat at the hotel. The room itself was very clean, modern. The air conditioning unit was leaking the first day but miraculously stopped .. I think they fixed it for us without us needing to ask!! The location of this hotel was perfect for us. Although it doesn't have its own outdoor pool you can use the sister pool (we didn't) instead they're was a private quiet little beach directly in front of the hotel. We loved it. Our hotel was at the end of the promenade. The promenade was gorgeous, plenty of restaurants and bars, beautiful views. Try Haddock Ibiza restaurant, lovely day or night, really good menu! Ibiza town is beautiful and less than a 10 minute walk away. €7 for a taxi. Quaint streets lined with restaurants fabulous shops and a harbour filled with expensive beautiful yachts! While there,we recommend El Faro restaurant for that special night out, beautiful setting amongst trees, low lighting and amazing food. We couldn't recommend this hotel enough. Thank you, we will be back! Collapse

We stayed here for our first time, we arrived pretty early and we had to wait until the room become available and also there was a few was on waiting too ! The reception told us to wait but there is no acknowledge of how tiring we are after early flight but at least she could offer to us hot drink. We been told the housekeeping are busy cleaning the existing or occupied room but not doing the room for new guest ? I was bit anxious about the what is in the room ? Like basic fridge and kettle? So she said at 3 star hotel its normally don't provide the fridge or kettle? These little thing could put peoples off to stay ! After all we didn't complaint about the room it is well stationed and great Seaview. Breakfast was good i would suggest more but it is what it is ! Collapse

We've stayed at this hotel 3 times and enjoyed every visit. The hotel has recently under gone a refurbishment and looks great. The rooms have a trendy look and are spotlessly clean. Plus points great location, nice rooms helpful staff, good free wifi and bikes which are free to borrow. The gym next to small indoor pool has excellent machines and has been totally refurbished. Negative points As the outdoor area now has nice loungers you can no longer eat meals outside. Plus for some reason the food is never hot enough. Would I stay again yes. Collapse

Every year I am used to spend a summer period in Ibiza, that I like very much. This year I could only go in August, which is the busiest month. As I watched on Booking.com, hotel’s rates were crazily expensive. I chose Hotel Maritimo, which I knew to be a good one (only three stars, though), belonging to group Playasol, although the price was ridiculously expensive. It was although one of the cheapest accommodations that I found. I have payed roughly 3.000 Euros for one single room for two weeks, breakfast and all taxes included. From previous holidays, I remember the hotel to be a nice one, with sea view and a bar/patio directly on the beach of Figueretas. Before landing on Ibiza, I had an email conversation with the hotel staff, in which I was reassured that single rooms are on the first floor of the hotel and have some little balcony, even not facing the sea. I asked many times about this detail since I am a bit claustrophobic and my wish was to profit of my holiday as much as I could. When I landed on Ibiza it was terribly hot and humid and I was feverish. I took a cab from the airport to get straightforward to Hotel Maritimo. After long queuing at the reception, a girl from Eastern Europe told me that she had written the anonymous replies to my email and reassured me that the room had a balcony and lots of space. Here the nightmare begins. When I opened the door, the room looked newly refurbished. There was no light, though. As I opened the curtain, I was astonished to find out that I was in a basement-first floor and my room was in the most hidden corner of a narrow crack which was supposed to be the hotels second courtyard. Above me I could see four floors: rooms were packed altogether like in a refugee camp. The hotel’s building is placed on a sloping rock wall: therefore the ground floor is on the beach level and the reception is on the third floor, directly on the above street (Calle Ramon Muntaner). For this reason the first floor – where my room was located – is actually on a basement quote. As you can see from the pictures, I had a small balcony pressed against the front wall; the space in-between was filled up with two air conditioning external splits which were producing lots of heat day and night. Because of the room’s location I could not see if it was night or day and cannot refresh my room since the hot air produced by air conditioning was filling my room every time I left my window open (and I never did it because a thief could easily get into my room by jumping from the outside). Marijuana’s smoke (you know, it’s Ibiza…) from the neighborhood was always stagnant on my balcony and filthiness and beetles were not missing. Unfortunately the island was in the busiest period of the year and I could not find any other room available. Although I checked personally several hotels. I had to take tablets against claustrophobia for three days and sleeping pills: after this time, I found one room through a good friend of mine and I moved to another hotel. I had to pay 2 nights fine (300 Euros) for early departure. I saw on the internet that double rooms with sea view were rented for roughly 6.000 Euros for the two central weeks of August. I hope that my experience will allow you to consider many conditions before booking hotels like Maritimo, which I would never recommend to any friend of mine. The atmosphere is even very sad and dark…but money shines always like diamond. Collapse

After staying at another hotel in Ibiza, working there for a few days in mid-July, I had to hang back one extra day because of flight changes. I booked via the booking.com app and headed straight to the hotel. Upon request for a passport, I told the receptionist that I did not bring it ( (Both my passports were at different embassies for VISA approval). As I understand, you are by law required to bring it. So I was denied check-in. I immediately used my app to cancel the booking. All this happened within one hour. As it turns out they have a 100% cancellation fee policy. I called booking.com, they called the hotel to request the amount back. The hotel told booking.com that they needed it in writing. So they did, but two days later they denied that request. I did not make it past the reception, but they kept my some 150 euros. I understand that the hotel needs security for holding a room available for you, but taken in to account the fact that from booking to cancellation it took less than one hour, I think this is an absolute disgrace.
